Good thing with these Dell workstations is that they use the standard size ATX PSU that you can purchase everywhere instead of the proprietary slim DELL PSUs that are hard to find and cost an arm and a leg.

6:50 - That is actually an RS-232 serial port. Usually in a business environment, there is still some legacy equipment that use that port for communication. It is basically used to interface between data terminal equipment and data communications equipment using serial binary data exchange.

I bought my T3620 for $190. Mine came with the i7 6700k and I put a NVIDIA T600 into. Thing works amazing.
I just received a 3620 that I got off Ebay for$20.50 + a small shipping fee. Look forward to building a homelab around this.

I have a dell precision m4700 workstation notebook it came with a intel core i7 extreme cpu 32gb of ram 15.6 1080p display i upgraded the gpu to a GeForce GTX 1050 4GB MXM3.0 Tybe-A gpu card bluray drive Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
I bought mine last year july about the same price, it has a e3 1245 v5 xeon and primary nvme, upgraded to 32gb of ram, 800w psu and a msi rx570 oc 8gb. Working well
you can actually remove that cover on the back hiding hdmi/ display ports if you dont have a gpu installed ( and if you cpu has integrated graphics ) graphics should default to auto at boot up
Have 4 waiting for pickup next week. Have been testing E3 1270,40, and 30 V5 cpus, all look very capable.

Hi to all the guys here. Would like to make an important question in my case concerning these dell computers that come with raid as an active drive controller (intel rst active) and not ahci. The problem is that whenever i try to boot into these machines in a winpe environment with the Strelec package if you know that, in order to reset the admin password if i cannot log into it or just backup the data of a user into an external hdd before reinstalling windows if the precedent os is damaged and cannot be repaired, the internal hdd-s or ssd-s of just the os directories into the drives are invisible. I click on “This PC” and there’s only my usb visible and nothing else. I made a search on the internet and it seems it has something to do with the intel rst driver that abstracts the hdd from the os. Please help me, what should i do in this case in order to be able managing the pc even when the pc is unbootable or just the admin password is not recognized.

I just brought a sata 256gb msata ssd for the windows 10pro and a 4tb 2.5 ssd for games and programs
i was able to get a very similar one for 100 off ebay, only differences is that it has a AMD Radeon R5 235 and a E3-1270 v6 @ 3.80GHz

That was a DB9 RS232 9 pin serial interface , not a VGA, the serial is a nice if you have any command line work with network applicances, new PCs dont have it , they force you to buy a USB-RS232-DB9 adapter. Im goint to pick one of these oxes up Dell 3620-3660 are great values !
I worked on that exact same PC yesterday (14mar) and it took 2 hours setting up win 10 plus all the updates. My one complaing is one time it went right to the desktop and other times it ask for password.

Is there enough room for a 120mm fan in front? It seems one could zip tie the 1010 cage at top and the bottom cage to keep it steady. It would be ghetto, but that’s why there’s no window. Thanks for the vid.

92mm may be the best fit for the front, either way you’ll have to do some metal work if you want it flush. If not you could use washers and longer screws or rubber grommets from a TV mounting kit to give you clearance. I used an 80mm for now with no modification needed. I did put a 140mm between the ends of cages that you’re talking about. It sits about midway in the chassis. If you want to use the brackets at the bottom of the 5.25” bay to mount SSDs this will not work (zip ties will interfere).
I have a Optiplex 3020, and a 120mm will zip tie to the side panel vent.
In my opinion the 3020 is the case to go for if you want to do a motherboard swap.

I got the T3620 with an E3-1245 V5, and I put a 1660 in it. Works great!

@@realwelder3529 what PSU do you have in it to handle the 3050? How did you get it to fit the MoBo, did you use an adapter?
@@nonumfrancis3109 I put a 600w Thermaltake PSU in it, and my 3050 is an Asus Dual 8gb. The only issue I have, is that the 3050 is kind of wide, so the little tab for the pci slot door hits the gpu, but it isn't hurting anything but the little plastic tab itself.

That's not a VGA port, that's a serial port. Workstations like this are often used in office, colleges, labs, where there is old scientific equipment, sports score boards, etc., etc., that is controlled via serial port.

Yes, but you can also add a GTX 1660 Ti and that will be a tiny bit better
Comes with a Windows digital license so you don't need to buy a hokey key.

You ask why channels aren't using the Dell precision line. I discovered that they do not support Bluetooth no matter what. Good thing I thought of it before I bought one.

@@zeroturn7091 well apparently the motherboard just doesn't support it no matter what you attach to it if I remember correctly. Correct me if I'm wrong.
@@JustSomeDude848 I don't know about the 3620, but the 3630 does allow you to add bluetooth. It has a place to plug in a connector on the motherboard from a PCIe card.
