This is the new Talaria Sting R, otherwise known as the Talaria Sting MX4. The Ebikezilla crew gave us the opportunity to test the new bike and we put together a quick first look at the newest edition of the Talaria Sting.
The MX4 received quite a few improvements. It’s now got 8kW of peak power, which is a jump of 2kW from its predecessor. The motor has also been updated to a more durable IPM motor. To fuel the new found power, the 60v battery now has a capacity of 45Ah, which is 7 Amp hours more than the MX3. The bike is sporting the updated Talaria Factory fork and shock.More acceleration requires more stopping power, so the bike is equipped with 220mm rotors and upgraded calipers and master cylinders. It comes stock with a peg brace, slightly taller bars, and a reinforced bracket for the gearbox. The Talaria Sting R MX4 weighs 145.5 pounds with the battery.

Great job on the video! Thanks for making it.
I ordered mine last night, it’ll be fun to do some side by side comparison of my own!
We definitely need to see a full review, range test, and comments on easy mods to improve the out of the box performance.
@LectricGo Copy that!
I see this as a upgraded quiet moped. The ultra bee is a super heavy full size dirt bike. Two completely different things
@@sayenko1 I saw that too but price point was my deciding factor
Glad I held off a year when I saw the original Sting. I thought that was awesome already. Any chance we're going to see a review soon on the talaria X3? That bike looks awesome too
Can’t wait to get my hands on the new bike!
def want more content on this bike! i bought the updated mx3 and freaking love it!
@Justin Winslow 🙌
A lot of people are about to sell their Talarias for this new one 💯
🫡
And their Sur rons too...
A lot of people are going to sell their SurRons too for this model.
GREAT VIDEO, PLEASE DO A VIDEO WITH THE NEW TALARIA RIDING
OFF ROAD OBSTACLES SIMILAR TO TRIALS.
Omg bro i wanted to try this new bike so bad
Certainly want to see more on the Talaria MX4. How did you fix the stinkbug problem?
Yessssss bro make some more vids ab it please
Thanks for the video. Anyone got info or a link on how to raise the front of this bike?
What would you guys recommend for taller riders? The mx3 or mx4?
Has your bike got a different rear sprocket? My big question is, is the fork on the Luna Sting R (available now) the same as the Factory Fork on your bike?
Ordered mine yesterday! I'm 6'2 and the Surron seems a little small in comparison. Add the increase in power, range, the new motor... No brainer for me
where did you find a place to buy yours. I cant find a seller
Are you referring to the Ultra Bee??
Luna, mate
Yeah Luna cycles is accepting orders!
@@pauldanrich3919 no the talaria sting r
Is the MX4/Sting R the new norm for the Talaria sting or a special edition? I am guessing this is the new normally available model and not a limited run?
Talaria Sting R in depth review/ comparison please!
Did you not put the foam pads on the battery? It stops the rattling a lot
Which brand would you suggest for someone 6ft6? I hear Talaria is a better fit than Surron?
With the limiter on what is the top speed?
would you say that it is worth 800$ more ? or should i just go for a surron ? the big thing about the Talaria is that the mx3 is way cheaper then the light bee x but the mx4 is the same price has the surron.
Finally!
@Bryson Johnson We were sitting on this one for a couple of months! Quite a lot of videos to make through the edit queue right now. 👍
When r they selling them only luna cycles in US as of now
Where is the rubber chain guard on the right side..?
How much actual ride time does one charge give you?
Can you test it with a 21” front wheel/ tire
These trails look like they could be right around the corner from me. Are you down in Florida?
Not sure if you can still see these comments, but sounded like you rated the factory fork above all others before it… did you mean stock or also aftermarket options like Fox, which isn’t even supposed to be for bikes like these? Thank you! Desperately need a fork upgrade on my SurRon!
Yeah I wanna hear more about this. You know we're looking for something as close to that ultra bee but cheaper.
@Jason Badman Copy that! We'll do some more. I wouldn't consider this bike to be much closer to the Ultra though. The MX4 has definitely got some impressive improvements over it's predecessor but the SurRon Ultra is just a different class of dirt bike. My $0.02!
@@ElectricCycleRider You should point out the ultra differences to really drive this home on the full review. A lot of the parts are swappable and same sized between the Talaria and Light Bee. The ultra has dirtbike components, totally different
@@ElectricCycleRider Do you think its a higher class? or more lateral different style of bike
As far as the battery rattling issues, did your test bike come with the the rubber blocks that are to be installed to solve this issue?
I bought this bike and yes they include such things but they also reinforced inside so May be extras
I recently got a talaria sting and now this comes out. what do i do lol
Please do a comparrison vid of the new bee
I own a surron XX model. Love it but this bike looks like it has a lot of new better upgrades. One of my main questions I’d love your thoughts on is do you think the added weight over the surron is worth compromising on. I’ve riden dirt bikes for almost thirty years, I love the surron because of the light weight. 145lbs sting - 110lbs surron?
Check out his earlier Talaria Sting videos. He goes over it and says it's basically a slightly bigger Sur Ron
@@Tazdeviloo7 once the light bee is upgraded to 21/18 wheels/dirtbike knobs, bigger battery, and all the other upgrades that bring it up to ultra bee standards, it’s a lot heavier than stock, probably just a few pounds lighter then the ultra bee, but smaller bike, still has bicycle suspension and brakes….
@Izak Awesome. In some ways, it feels like an "XX" upgrade to the Talaria Sting MX3. Definitely some nice improvements on this bike.
As for weight, I personally don't mind the added pounds. As I'm sure you know from 30 years of riding, weight is not always a bad thing, especially when you're in this sub-200 pound class. The extra weight is good for keeping the bike stable and planted in choppy and rough terrain. The dirt jump crowd may prefer the lightweight bikes because it more closely mimics a mountain bike but for most other applications, the added weight can be a good thing.
I personally like bikes in the 150-190 pound range because they feel very light but they are also heavy enough to be stable. I think it's the best of both worlds. Everyone is different, though. That's just what I like!
@%F0%9F%91%8D%F0%9F%91%8D/UChyyKdYhKRE0zNc0uQKTc1Q Thanks for referencing the older videos! A lot of questions are answered in those older posts👍
Ultra Bee all the way, for a bit extra $$, totally worth it!!!
why?
It’s twice the price 😂 like comparing a Camaro to a Porsche 911
alot more
2000$ more
@@XSneekystrikex twice the price? where did you learn math hahaha ultra bee isn’t $9000USD its 6500…. 2k more has a larger better frame, has real motorcycle brakes, real suspension, a much better seating position like a traditional moto, larger battery, wider swing arm.
I would like to know how to make the shock and forks work better. I have 300 hours on mine but I feel the suspension needs work.
Hey brother!!! I want to know if you had to choose between one, both fully modified.. which would you choose? Surron or mx4 sting r?
And second, when both fully modified it’s like A 15lb difference give or take between them with the surron being lighter. Does it really make that big of a difference? I come from mtb downhill riding and that is more so my riding style. Single track, tight trails with some jumps, rocks and roots with switch backs. That is what I would ride on one when I get and modify. Which would you chose with this above in mind?
Thanks and love the channel brother! Keep shredding!!🤙🏻
Really would like your opinion boss!!
Regarding the battery rattling, use a tow strap to tie it down; problem solved.
every time i watch you ride croom, im trying to figure out what area your at lol. i dont recognize any of these trails and tracks. are you at wiregrass?
@4rotorguy Haha, I'm not at Croom in every video! This video was shot mostly in a different riding area in FL. When I'm at Croom, I'm usually changing locations. We'll usually ride some fresh singletrack and it'll eventually get too blown out and we'll go ride a new spot. Croom is an ever-changing trail network! 👍
Would love to see more content. Unfortunately I have basically built the same bike for thousands more. That just seems like the way it goes.
@Tumalo Talaria What mods have you done to your Talaria?
@Electric Cycle Rider I upgraded to the new factory forks. I have 16/19 warp 9 wheels. 54t sprocket and volkan rear shock. KO pro Controller w/bypassed battery. Really wish I had a new battery just don't know which one to get yet. Only trying to hit 12k and extend range. Running a 9500 tune now.
Great review man, sweet and short. Two things that stand out to me 8 kW on 145 pound frame is pretty under powered in my opinion, that’s also going to hurt the range drastically. 60 V battery is not making any sense to me. The best buy would be if you could find someone with just a sur Ron frame and no motor battery or controller and build it up yourself because these all leave room for improvement and trashing the stock parts to upgrade is a money pit
the talaria sting r is way better then the surron.. so much quieter when riding as well which you never mentioned or never noticed 🕺🏻
My little brother and i were watching this cuz we love these, he’s 13 and one day wants one, he’s 5,3 feet and wondering if he rode this bike he’d be able to touch the ground??
What’s your opinion on the power vs the XX ?
@Justin Weatherly It's been a while since I've ridden the SurRon XX on stock wheels/tires/sprocket but the power increase definitely does resemble the jump from the X to the XX. Possibly even more of a power increase.
@@ElectricCycleRider good deal 👍
I sold my XX almost a month ago and missed it ever since, I’m definitely interested in seeing more videos with this bike compared to others…
Don’t know if you have a Rawrr Mantis yet but seems it could be a decent option !
What motorcycle stand is that and will it hold a Yamaha XT250 & MT-03?
It's the Matrix Concepts LS1 Stand. Here is the link:
parts.electriccyclerider.com/products/matrix-concepts-ls1-lift-stand
It has a weight capacity of 500lbs so should be no problem for the XT and MT.
💯‼️
I live in La and want to buy an ultra bee on ecr but how do I know it’s legit and not a scam?
@leon kedar ECR does not sell Ultra Bee's directly. The ECR Marketplace is showing you listings from the dealers that have the bikes in stock (or soon to be in stock). I would hope our history in this industry would make it obvious that we are legit!
❤
More sting r content brother
Please do a fair full review on something other than loose sand. While i have been a previous Sur ron owner, and was looking at the ultra bee, this bike costs 2k less with free shipping from Luna cycles! The ultra bee seems to be somewhere in the pacific ocean, but definitely not here. Kind of like the Stark Varg. The biggest drawback with ultra bee is it comes with the same wheels as the X. So people have to spend money on wheel upgrades and then power upgrades as you noticed in your 18/21 review. I get that youtube influencers, like yourself, get some form of “compensation” from manufacturers. My opinion is that your bread is buttered by sur ron a bit. Just personal opinion. Me, ill happily pay 2k less for something that is actually available and has an aftermarket eco system very similar to the X. I have mine coming soon!
@Patrick Cox Thanks for the note Patrick. I'll set the record straight and tell you we actually don't receive compensation from the manufacturers. As helpful as that would be, Surron and Talaria has never given us compensation for our reviews. This video, like all others, often cost us more money to produce than it will make in return. Every dollar this channel has made gets reinvested back into making more content.
We hope to give the Talaria Sting R a fair full review in our normal riding areas. When the bike was presented to us from Ebikezilla, we were testing a handful of other bikes at the time and we had about an hour to knock this out. I think it's clear to see this is just a quick look but we hope to do more as we only had this riding area to utilize at the given time. There are often a lot more variables behind the scenes that it may appear!
You bring up some fair points about the Ultra Bee needing upgrades straight away. These are two different bikes though. As for availability, one container has already arrived to Built eBikes (there may be some available) and Charged Cycle Works, among others, are receiving their containers in the coming weeks.
I’m not discounting the valuable content that you create as I do view your videos regularly. But I do believe that normal everyday people would consider multiple bikes in your garage, although they may be long-term loaners to be a form of compensation. I do directly compare these two bikes that we are discussing. My decision making made the Talaria a better buy. Where as the ultra bee, with shipping, was very close to 7k. The Talaria was $4570. With wheel and tire upgrades on the ultra bee your looking at 8k, whether that be 18/21 or 19/16. Now, for me, it competes with the Beta 300 xtrainer at $8200 or less depending upon negotiation skills. A far better trail bike stock than the upgraded ultra bee. Those that do enjoy personalization of their rides can do far more starting at $4500. Don’t get me wrong i love electric bikes, i also have a Zero FX, but i personally don’t consider the comparison of ultra bee, and ICE bikes to be apples to oranges. Keep up the work. Your review on the 18/21 setup for the ultra bee was why i decided against it. You might consider racing electric like the young guy with the channel Electric is Better. That might add some direct comparison to the blending of ebike/ICE markets.
How is the ultra bee like a stark? They are already for sale and multiple dealers have them for you to demo ride and sit on. Builte bikes out of Florida received their batch last week. Charged cycle works has one and so does KC powersports out of Arizona. Theres literallly one varg in the US.. Wheels aside, real motorcycle brakes, 72v and 55ah, real suspension, better seating ergonomics and no silly mtb components throughout the bike make it worth it for a more off-road worthy bike.
To northsandiegorc, stop being a troll. You listed just 2 dealerships that had 1 ultra bee on the floor, and one dealer that has just received their shipment. The others are still WAITING and taking orders. The analogy i was eliciting is one of scarcity. I also clearly indicated that the wheel upgrade review was what influenced my decision making, not that one was better than the other. My point was that if i was going to spend 8-9k (ultra bee with wheel/tire upgrades and power upgrades) i personally would choose an ICE bike over the ultra bee for my wants and needs. Go back down to your mothers basement and take some reading lessons.
@@patrickcox1960 how many dealers have talaria sr in stock??
Does the surron x have that battery rattle issue?
Nope
no issue
⚡⚡⚡
Is it worth selling my new Sur Ron X and buying the R instead?
Did it. Was worth it
Is it streak legal?
Talaria
over Surron any day!!!
👍
I was gonna buy one but the only option was pick up from canada🙃🙃
Какая же у вас там природа крутая
Could you do a KTM free ride vs the ultra bee ??? My local dealership has the free ride for sale are 8k is it worth it ???
@Jacob Williamson I definitely plan to do that. I still think the the KTM Freeride EXC is a great bike! $8K is a steal for that bike. My quick response would be the KTM is slightly bigger and comes with better suspension, 21/18 wheels and more power stock. The downside (depending on your priorities) are that the KTM is heavier by about 60 pounds and needs 220V to charge. The charging could be an upside, though, as it charges much quicker than the Ultra. The Ultra is lighter, smaller, with more features (like TC, throttle mapping, regen) and better displays. The Ultra will have a lot more options for upgrades but could get expensive like the Lightbee X if you want to upgrade wheels/suspension/power.
Most internet searches shows the KTM Freeride E-XC selling around $11,300. It doesn't sound right that a dealer would be selling one at 8k unless it was used and damaged?
Several dealers in my state have new KTM Freeride bikes for $7999. They are having some difficulty selling them because of the 220 charging. Im sure KTM is also providing some kickback to dealers.
I considered it, but have it would have required me to buy a separate generator , with 220 capability, to charge the thing.
@@patrickcox1960 Wow, that is quite a deal. I would snap one up in a second at that price. The 220vac charging wouldn't scare me at all, piece of cake at home, and you could probably get a 110vac to 220vac transformer for away from home. 220 charges quicker too. The only reason not to snap one up is if you are a inner city stealth rider which limits you to the smaller Sur Ron or Talaria sting. The Freeride is a full out dirt bike and performs much better. I'm going to see if I can find a KTM dealer here in NH to match that price and snap one up. Thanx.
How do these electric dirt bikes feel compared to gas powered dirt bikes?
Top speed and 0-30mph🙏
Who posts a test/review of an electric bike, and doesn't test the most obvious questions that we will have? What is the real world range?
Luna cycle posted a range test on this bike got 43 miles cruzing about 25/30 mph . 190 lb rider
Can't you guys find any normal trails? 😆
I feel bad that i have the ig now
@Shaidewithesting You shouldn't feel bad! It's a cool new update to the Sting but the original MX3 is a great bike too. I'd still mod the MX4 if it were my bike, haha.
These e bikes don’t attract bear as many Karen’s. They seem to be suited to gas motors as their electric devices cause them Much pleasure they seem to look the other way…blushing.
This doesn’t look like the Talaria R …
Because there’s no blue stickers?
@@Turbo_JAM no. The R has some different plastics on it like a new logo on the motor.
@@easyheimer fair enough. Hadn’t noticed. But will look closer.
Like where is the rubber chain guard on the right side?
Can you get me one
Surronster was first😂✌️
Jump it
Really surprised they wouldn't make sure the battery shaking issue was resolved for this mx4. Other than that it's a nice bike. Kinda feel cheated for having bought a mx3
Same here i've only put 300 miles on my mx3 wish i waited
