    Big difference for me is when you turned them both. The USA made was nice and crisp. Sounded nice and quality. The taiwanese made one sounded loose and sloppy. Big difference!

      I’m not sure if they still make this particular model even in China anymore . Last time I went to Lowe’s I didn’t see it on the shelf ?🤔

    Great video, I enjoyed the breakdown, Apex Tool Group does not own the Craftsman Brand, it went from Sears to Stanley Black and Decker in 2017. Some U.S.-made rachets are still available, but not many.

    I have a USA one but the bawl is stripped should I trade it in at lowes for a Chinese one ?

    • @snapringchronicles3020
      @snapringchronicles3020  Před 2 lety +1

      Hard to say. It all depends on your perspective. If you just need a working ratchet and are not concerned about where it was made then yes take it to Lowe’s.

    Interesting comparison, why ever did they go with plastic on a tool is beyond me though……

    That non USA is made in China. I appreciate your disregard to that detail, but attention to the REAL details.

    Whats with the rubber gloves don't want to get hands dirty

      I’m opening up and cleaning and handling ratchets from every era. So I’m handling oil and chemicals and possibly toxic metals( especially in more vintage ratchets). Wearing gloves just makes sense. Thanks for the question, people must be wondering 👍

    It seems like the Taiwanese Craftsman is junk I have sets of made in USA Craftsman ratchets and they're nice and tight

  • @feildcar4578
    @feildcar4578 Před 2 lety +1

    Both of them were and still are absolutely horrible I don't care how cheap they are or someone saying how tough they are/we're they were horrible to use the fit and finish is horrible and the ratcheting mechanism just as bad.

      Hey thanks for the input👍..Definitely these ratchets are not for everybody.

      These craftsman ratchets with the plastic selector are garbage. The older USA ones with the metal selector were decent.

      Agree. I had a set of Craftsmans when I was a kid (given them in 1981), and the ½ in. drive ratchet mechanism failed when I was moving the selector back and forth. Absolute garbage.

    Looks like you loose no matter what ratchet you buy.
