    Thank you for this comparison. I ended up going with the sorting tray and tubes because I save all my change in a piggy bank, and then roll/deposit the coins into my bank every quarter. Hand-sorting the coins was tedious, but I couldn’t justify the expense of the machine. Hopefully the tray system works out well for me. Great video 👍

      Hi. I'd like to know how you like the tray system, what negatives it might have? Thanks

    • @kirstyirwin7590
      @kirstyirwin7590 Před rokem +1

      @@501talon the tray system is very good. It sorts the coins without issues.
      Pros: it’s very cheap/cost effective
      Cons: the penny tube is off by 3 cents, so I have to remove 3 Pennys before rolling them (not a big deal).
      The trays do not hold a lot of coins so I sort a couple of handfuls at a time and put them in the tubes until the tubes fill up, then I roll them.
      For typical household use, I think the tray system works fine.

    Good and straightforward comparison, thanks.
    I looked at various machines and decided that I wasn't in any big hurry to justify the machine so I bought the 4 sorter trays and counting/wrapping tubes, spent a little over $20 for both. Separated over $950 in silver in a couple of hours in one evening and put each denomination in separate containers for wrapping later. I always separate the pennies from the silver before tossing each in a container, the pennies I give to my grandson.
    Using the counting tubes and wrapping is pretty easy once and quick once you get the hang of it, just another Saturday afternoon's work for all that silver. The local convenient store manager is happy to buy all the rolled coins I can give him so he doesn't have to go to the bank.

    Banks hate dealing with change. My bank had a machine that charged you to turn it into cash. Now I'm about to wrap a few coffee cans. Awesome video, I'm buying one of those now. Thanks for keeping me from doing it by hand!

    You learned after the fact but yes preformed tubes are a massive time saver. And the 16 roll Royal Sovereign System is a great affordable sorter for anyone just below professional coin sorting needs. If it took you years to fill a jar and that's all you need to sort then just get something simple. If you're rolling coins every week, go for Royal Sovereign 16 roll or even something on the verge of commercial size and speed. Sorting coins can slow your hobby down dramatically if you're hunting rolls daily.

      I agree the crank will be faster for that quantity I am guessing you will have $3K of coins. If you get the pre formed tubes it will go much faster then using flat tubes. For that quantity its worth the extra expense for the pre formed tubes in my opinion. =Cosmo

    While rolling, did you ever do a manual count of the coins in random rolls to check accuracy? I had bought one of those small coin trays to speed up rolling a few bank boxes of pennies. I found out after 6 completed rolls I was actually putting in 53 to 54 pennies in each roll. The trays markings were way off! I've wondered if those funnels have the same problem.

    Hey you know the hand crank machine counts it out for you and you put a roll in it so when it's filled you take the wrapper out the coins will fall the rest way down you roll the top and your all done simple as 1.2.3 I only know cause I had the same one but I have an electric one know that works great. For 13$

    "The bank acted like they were giving you gold with the wrappers." Boy, you hit that right on the head. Banks and bank people act like you work for them as their minions. That is why robbers shoot up banks. To help the bank workers clean out their bowels. Takes the pucker out of them.

    my bank no longer accepts rolled coins. You have to use their coin counter and pay the fee. I think its .08 per dollar. They also charge for cash deposits. I've checked all local banks and they all charge for cash, coins, or both. I guess the bank really doesn't need your money nowadays.

    • @toolshed0513
      @toolshed0513 Před 4 lety +2

      How do they not accept rolled coins? They're a bank... It's literally their job to handle money/deposits. I could understand if they weren't rolled and you just brought in like a jar of loose change, but that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I agree with the other reply to your comment... You need to change banks.
