  • Today we do a full unboxing and review of the Royal Sovereign Electronic 4 Row Coin Counter (Model: RCS-417-ADBK from Sam's Club). My last bank with a free of charge coin counter is closing so I will be hand wrapping/re-wrapping a ton of change as part of my CZcams channel. Looking for a device to make this faster and more cost efficient than paying a Coinstar or completely rerolling by hand. There are some positives and negatives about this unit and I cover both.
    I do recommend buying from SamsClub locally if possible. The first one I bought had issues and Sam's Club let me swap it out with no hassle (other than driving back to Sam's).
    Enjoy the Video!

    Thanks for the detailed review. I’m not a coin roll hunter per say, once in a while I do a box of halves. But just with pocket change I don’t see me as a consumer of the item. However if you’re a hunter I think this could be something to consider.

      It’s actually not bad. The dimes were the worst culprit of being off. My unit at 1 years old and counting probably $25k in change went in for service. Took 2-3 weeks but they replaced most of the innards and it seems to be working great. If you need perfect I would say move on. I actually weigh all my rolls after I stuff them so I know they are accurate and this machine works great for my needs.

    Impressive, every bank should have one of these or a bigger version of this that takes a larger quantity of coins so they can change their policy of not accepting loose change since it isn't rolled. Legal tender is legal tender regardless of the denomination

    • @GASilverHunter
      @GASilverHunter  Před 4 měsíci +1

      30 years ago all banks had industrial versions of these. Now it’s a handful of banks and credit unions that have them.

    I love mine for wrapping coins. I have found that even the one end wrapped already don’t work great as well so I always use the empty tubes and pour into wrappers. It takes me about 1/2 hour to wrap any denomination box for return to the bank. Really saves time and when your going thru 10 or so boxes a week it really is a time saver. No big mess either.

    • @GASilverHunter

      Awesome. I thought getting through 33 roles (of dimes no less) in around 20 minutes was pretty good for my first time trying to keep up with the machine. Halves aren't too bad to re-roll because they are so big, but wish there was a way to make that faster.

      @@transitdave4784 Although... I went this weekend and dropped off coins and between the 20 minute round trip and the 20-30 minutes in the bank (because the machine jammed twice and they had to change the bag once)... it almost would have been faster to just wrap them and drop them at a bank 5 minutes away.

      @@GASilverHunter I hear you. I went the other day and the machine was having an issue I didn’t know about so as I was dumping my 1/2’s they were not counting and dropping out the bottom of the machine. Lost about ten dollars I wasn’t able to retrieve. 😣

    Love the review. Now I know I have no use for this machine. I can push coins into the counting tubes and wrap them much faster.🤷‍♂️

    • @GASilverHunter
      @GASilverHunter  Před 8 měsíci +1

      It’s actually great for quarters and nickels. Dimes are rough. As I hunt I drop them in the bin and they are counted and in tubes and all I have to do is wrap them. Downside is this $90 machine is like $250 everywhere.

      @@syberphish my main banks got rid of all their machines. I have found a few credit unions that have them but they didn’t take halves. I was at an Ameris bank this weekend and they had a machine that takes halves so I may look into setting up an account there.

    The regular wraps if you just put your finger in it when you flip it your good or does it not fit?

    • @GASilverHunter
      @GASilverHunter  Před 2 lety +1

      Hard to describe. The flat wraps won't stay open enough to use directly with the machine... at least not from my experience. When you dump from the tubes to a flat wrap its kinda the same thing. Once you get it over the first coin or two, it works really well. It just takes a little practice.

    I e noticed when I use paper sleeve rolls in the plastic tubes I commonly have issues with accuracy. When I use it without paper rolls I rarely have problems with accuracy. It makes transferring the coins to rolls a little tedious but not horrible.

    • @GASilverHunter
      @GASilverHunter  Před rokem

      Funny you comment on this. After almost exactly a year I sent mine in for repair because the dime counting was so out of control. I do let it count into the tubes and then I transfer to paper wraps. Mine was just abused for a year so I’m not surprised it needs repair. Royal sovereign we’re really helpful on the phone.

      So because yours doesn’t jam… it’s impossible for any other unit to jam? You know the first unit I picked up failed to count any nickels. It literally spit them out through the chute into the tubes and didn’t count them. I am not claiming all units will jam. I am saying in my review and my experience it can jam. I have seen other reviews of this unit and it is a common complaint.
