no kidding, what's that, 15% throttle at 10k rpms? wtf that's insane also, i thought they'd like a bit of wheelspin? i dont know anything about launches apparently but these look EXTRA slow compared to what im used to? am i dumb?
They are quite slow compared to a usual race start because they're from practice or testing when trams haven't dialled in the clutch settings yet fully. The RB one was particularly bad with loads of wheelspin @@yurilopes420
@@franciscoovarela I heard somewhere that like, the smallest bit of wheelspin isn't bad to get the car moving but then you want full traction might have been about older cars maybe
Will there be a video about 2021 and 2024 Bahrain Pole comparison? Even though the new gen cars are slower, the times are the closest we ever got since the new regs
I believe these are way slower than the real race start. I remembered some races show the 0-200kmh time of first runners during race start (full fuel) is around 4.8-4.9s
1. This is practice start (not max engine mode and we don't know the battery power either, Ricciardo didn't even seem to be putting his max effort either) 2. The tyres weren't in optimum condition they were used and this is after a simulation of race run so expect .2-.3 loss. Also the track is not rubbered in yet. 3. yes the weight slows the car down compared to some years ago and downforce/drag is what slows the accelaration down after 150 kmph.
RB and AM had really slow starts, Lec's was a superb one, even the upshifts are faster, can you see what tires there were on? That may explain why even their launch were at so big a different RPM.
I think Honda is more effective on average because it uses heavier ratios in low gears and closer ones in high gears. Because at low speeds the down force is not maximum yet. However, it is also possible the Honda's engine has over stroke compared to the Ferrari and Mercedes. But of course the technicians know more than me.
The 0-100 acceleration is surprisingly slow. It shouldn't depend too much on weight, it has more to do with tire grip, but in the old days (the 1990s and 2000s) the cars could do it in around 2 seconds.
Ferrari's first gear and sixt gear have higher revs at the same speed, so it looks like it's geared a bit shorter. It helps acceleration, but if both Honda and Ferrari have optimized their gearing with engine power and drag it looks like the honda has a small top speed advantage still.
It still annoys me that we get such poor telemetry and the excuse is ‘durrr it’s that way so the teams can’t watch each other’ the teams watch each other ANYWAY in much higher detail than what we get. Unfortunately most people are stupid and pay 50£ a month for basically nothing
different conditions, plus lot of spin (due to the different temperature, different start line and driver clutch management), so it's not based on the pure performances of PU. One launch could be great, another, crap for all of them
In 0-100 kmh they are unable to unleash all the power, around 2 seconds in 100-200 are impressive. The fastest are the 2004 with values of 3.5 seconds in 0-200
what i hate seeing is the stupid start 'reaction time'. as if that's the only thing that determines your start. what about throttle application? clutch release timing? second clutch release timing? gear shift timing? fuel load, tyre compound, track side? f1 broadcast has gone dumb for americans.
Very slow acceleration indeed. 0-100 in 3.5 seconds is unacceptable, let alone 0-200 km/h in 6 seconds. Is there any GP that allows for 0-300 km/h during the starting straight?
yea starting from zero.. but the n0 from 101 to 250 is very close. its a better a number to look at probably cause it is less influenced by things going wrong at launch. likely also the fuel weight plays a bigger part to overcome from a standstill as opposed to already moving
Wtf? No bro. Literally impossible. In 0-100 maybe but 0-250, NO WAY. Tesla can't get to 250km/h in less than 8 seconds, literally impossible, let out 100 to 250 in 5 seconds, you tripping
