I think we hardcore gamers take for granted how much more we know and understand our hobby than people who are alot more casual. It's mind blowing to me how off base some folks are, and then some people are acting like this is a brand new tech. But the one thing I will say is I think the PS Portal has finally, finally, gotten people to understand how valuable remote play is as a feature.

I find the handheld console comparisons very bizarre...
Would they compare a Standard Dualsense to a Switch or a Steam Deck etc?? No, because that would be ridiculous!! Comparing the Portal is ridiculous!! If anything, they should be comparing the PS5 combined with the Portal to those other handheld consoles!!

Thank you for your comment and review of the PS Portal video. One important point that you highlighted in the video is that users can connect their PS DualSense controller to their phone, tablet, or PC in order to play games using PS Remote Play.
Many people believe that the PS Portal provides the best remote play experience because it offers the same feeling as using the DualSense controller directly. However, it's important to note that you can already use the DualSense controller to play games through remote play on your phone, tablet, or PC.
To summarize, the PS Portal is highly regarded for its ability to recreate the DualSense controller experience. Nevertheless, it's worth knowing that you can also enjoy remote play with the DualSense controller on other devices.

If you don’t mind, can you give me a justified answer if you say have a MacBook Pro with the M2 chip and the PlayStation portal which would you recommend for the best of all experience and you already have both? Granted, I’m aware of all the hacks you can do to improve the resolution and connection.

    • @kongwilson88
      @kongwilson88 Před 6 měsíci

@@staygoldbang6785 While hardware specifications play a role, it's worth noting that remote play depends mainly on game streaming rather than just hardware. In this case, the M2 MacBook Pro has an advantage because it supports Wi-Fi 6, which provides faster and more reliable wireless connectivity. Compared to the PlayStation Portal, which doesn't support Wi-Fi 6, the M2 MacBook Pro is likely to offer a better remote play experience.

Judging by some of the comments I've seen on the Backbone Discord and Reddits and how clueless some of those folks are, I know absolutely people are buying this with a misunderstanding. People will get a Backbone and then make comments like "I thought I could play playstation on my phone with this". Yeah, If you already have a playstation lol. I think alot of people who are buying this are thinking that its actually a cloud streaming system that will let you play from the cloud like PS Plus, but it's way cheaper than buying a ps5. Which is the huge irony because if Sony would have made this thing a device you could use PS Plus cloud streaming on, that would have given it a ton more value and would have opened it up to an audience who might not be able to afford a ps5 outright but this would still give them a way to play some playstation games.

Apparently Not enough. Because I still keep getting emails and messages of people saying that the PS Portal is better than the Switch. That PS Portal will destroy the Steam Deck. You have no idea how my inbox has been looking since the Portal was announced.

Yeah, and it's a bad experience if you're playing for a long time. remote playing eats up your data faster than watching movies. I forgot to mention that on video.

I have a great Hotspot speed, but it will NEVER be better than playing at home wifi. TURN your hotspot OFF & what you got? A Brick! Thanks for sharing.

@@Marcthegeek bro... where do you mostly play games at?
I have gbc, gba, analogue pocket, steam deck etc....90% of the games I play them at home in different places. Sure , I like knowing I have a steam deck I could take "anywhere" and play spiderman at 30 fps with stutters or.... I could play it on the portal at 60fps with a much better screen and much better controllers.
No one is saying the portal is "better" than a steam dekc, switch etc. They are just saying it has its uses and for what it is designed to do, it does it very well . Whether that is worth your money is an individual decision based on their use case or their budget.
This idea that grandmas are buying portals for their grandchildren without reading the " THIS REQUIRES A PS5" int he box is kinda overblown, ridiculous .

    Dual Sense controller - 69.99
    8" Samsung Tablet - 129.99
I think its perfect remote play device accessory for the PS5. None of those other devices feel like this one does.

If you have a PS5, you don't need to spend $69.99 on a Dual Sense. If a person buys a Portal, where are they hooking it up to? Lol! Thanks for your input.
