    Cadillac sure knew how to build 'em. I lived in Detroit at the time and i remember driving on I-75 by the Cadillac Plant almost every day and thinking that the people building them were lucky.

    This example has the Fleetwood Brougham's standard Magi Matelasse Cloth and Leather upholstery. Optional were the all leather and Medici crushed velour interiors. The 1973 year is my favorite of the 1971-1976 era.

    It's taken me more than thirty years to appreciate the front and rear end of the seventy three Caddys, I thought was a little understated and subdued for what Cadillacs were in this era.

    I wish I hadn't watched this video. Had one. Bought it from my Dad. Burnt orange, lite tan top, funny puke green interior. Had everything this car has AND chrome window shades. I'm crying. 472 ci. Got it up to 106mph. Scared the heck out of me, but was still smooth riding. I ended up putting air shocks on the back. I used to let the air out so it'd sit low. Put 15" spoke rims on it and smaller white walls. It was so clean and classy.

    • @randyfitz8310
      @randyfitz8310 Před 5 lety

      Mark Stengel The sticker identifier is 502 which confuses people because it’s too close to the number 500 as was used in Eldorado in ‘70 to ‘76 and the other full-size ‘75 & ‘76. Cadillac didn’t make a 502.

      Sir at the time this Cadillac was fresh from the assembly line it was a Fleetwood only. They did use the Brougham in 1980, no sooner than that. Only trying to be informed not trying to insult any one.

    • @kevineich5029
      @kevineich5029 Před 4 lety +1

      Frank Lee, The Brougham was a trim level on the Fleetwood - right from the 1973 Brochure. In 1980 or so, all Fleetwoods were Fleetwood Broughams and the upscale trim package was the d'Elegance (Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance). When Cadillac brought out the front wheel drive Coupe and Sedan Devilles in 1985, they still had the Fleetwood Brougham and Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance. There was some confusion so in 1987, the rear wheel drive cars were just Brougham and Brougham d'elegance. In 1993, the RWD car was totally redesigned and the names were again Fleetwood and Fleetwood Brougham. Cadillac brochures page: www.lov2xlr8.no/cadillac.html

    I absolutely love the 1973 Cadillac de Ville and Fleetwod cars. Not so much the Eldorado because of the rear end.
    Drove a Coupe de Ville for 9 years and truly enjoyed every mile.
    What surprises me here is that this Fleetwood Brougham does not have a right hand side mirror.

  • @bluesharp59
    @bluesharp59 Před 5 lety +3

    I love the 1973s because they had the most horsepower in all of the 1970s era Cadillac's. The 472 Engine was rated at 375 HP that year in 1973 for some odd reason being the model year before and after were around 205 and 210 give or take but still had massive toque ratings. After the 472 engine was discontinued by the late 70s then the 425 came out and even that was low horsepower but high toque. Thanks for your upload and gave a thumbs up for you.

    • @bluesharp59
      @bluesharp59 Před 5 lety +1

      Keep the fluids clean and change the oil at 2000 - 3000 miles. I would run a gas additive if the valve seats are original. Old cars used leaded gas and the valve seats were soft until 1974. Auto shops will tell you what to do. Otherwise you got a Nice Car. Auto parts stores sell owners manuals also so its good to have one to learn more about your cool ride. You take care and Happy Holidays.

    • @bluesharp59
      @bluesharp59 Před 5 lety +1

      @@jackgentry5603 It sounds like it is running nice from the way it sounds on the video. I wouldn't change or rebuild unless it starts getting leaks or flooding issues. Old carbs don't like ethanol so try to avoid gas with high concentrations that are over the ten percent added by gas some fuel company's out there.

    I had the same year same color with midnight blue leather interior. Those are the real - the best bumpers front and back that protect the car. I hit a tree going 5 mph and it bounced back.
    I loved that car. Other Caddilacs I've owned are the 77, 78 Fleetwood Brougham, 78 Eldorado, 85 TownCar Cartier, 95 MB S320, 03 Buick Park Avenue Ultra.
    Favorite:
    1. MB S320 - pure luxury, handling, steering lighter than a feather, mpg., reliabe, great ride. Nothing compares to a W140 S Class. NOTHING!
    2. 73 Fleetwood - solid, steering, handling, limousine big, leather in abundance. Room like no other, but slow. Chrome chrome chrome.
    3. Buick PA Ultra. Fast, good mpg, great ride, handles good. Sporty and luxury.
    Today I drive a 2003 Buick Park Avenue Ultra.
