I’m thinking about doing it always wanted to be a bus driver since I was a little boy my love for buses never ceased and I love kiddos now that I’m a young adult myself ❤
You'll be hired in a heartbeat! School systems across the USA are BEGGING for new drivers! Louisville, KY will need one more Oct. 1st, when I finally get to RETIRE!
I'd do this. I always love ginormous vehicles and feel safe in them! I feel exposed in tiny cars or on small things/bikes. I read an article on this, and laughed for a half hour when they wrote about "make sure everyone can see you..." the thing is yellow and black and 40 feet long. My father is literally almost entirely blind and HE could see this thing! Lol
I got tears in my eyes when she was all excited to have driven it! Lol. I'd think you do it like a Ferrari at speed, come into the curve on right turns and get it from the inner edge. Reverse going left. Start turn on the RIGHT side to go left. Or swing out a bit opposite way before making the turn. Not sure how well that works in something this big, tho...
ha! while ive never driven for a school.. ive literally driven a bus before i drove a car... a family friend used to sell bluebird.. and I got to drive one. (a shiny brand new 1980 model at the age of 11..) i rememebr the first time I stabbed the brake pedal and it was just like her!! great memories... I own 3 classic busses of my own now..
Wow in 3 minutes I call BS ... It takes about 3 months there are a few pretty tough tests and lots of physicals and background checks and you have to practice lots if turns!!!!
Most states don't require it of its yours. Then it's no longer the C (commercial) in CDL. Some states have weight requirements. Illinois for example, is the lowest at 16k pounds. Hawaii is about the only one with strict rules. If you've been there, TRUST ME, you DO NOT want to drive the road to Hana. It's 8 hours of VERY challenging terrain. No guard rails if you were to go over. I wouldn't do it on a small motorcycle and I saw minibuses do it. It was crazy! They're all 2 lane, too! Nope, nope, nope!
@@user-tb7rn1il3q the "training" is mostly compliance training for safety stuff. The driving part shouldn't be difficult if you've driven a vehicle and are confident in your driving. A bus is higher and longer but that shouldn't matter. It's just like with any car, you get used to it
You don't need a CDL to own one in most states. Because it's no longer a C if it's yours. Depending on state. Illinois still wants one over 16k pounds. I think. Hawaii, rightfully so. Roads there are a nightmare in the mountains. Don't do the road to Hana on big island yourself. Trust me. It would SUCK.
"The bus drives like a car except you use the parking brake a lot." You're supposed to use it everytime you park in any vehicle. Don't they teach this in driver's ed?
It’s cause in the school bus you put it in neutral and pull the emergency brake cause there’s no parking feature on the gear shifter thing on a school bus.

Back when I was in school in the 90s 60% of our busses were manual stick except for the flat nosed bluebird buses now in 2022 there all automatic I think it's so they can get drivers who don't know how to stick shift plus today's buses are all electronics now and led flashing amber and red lights the doors are now electronic back in my day the buses all had handles to open and close the doors and now buses take def which is a special kinda fuel for eco reasons I think there trying to do away with diesel school buses to and go to regular gas for eco reasons
Why do something yourself if a very basic computer is a billion times better at it than we ever were? Very basic brain boxes have been there since, what, like 1981? And I've never had one fail or HEARD of anyone have one fail. I'm grateful for modern advances in safety and mechanics. I would have killed for automatic on a Gold Wing on the George Washington Bridge. I aged 25 years trying to do that effer on a 900 pound Gold Wing. It's one lane, very narrow, nowhere to stop, (but you'll spend the entire TIME on it stopped!) And it'll be just crammed. Plus, there's a nasty grade in there, too. Least fun driving anything anywhere in my...33 years driving. Runner-up, Tennessee Gap in a blinding rainstorm. Nowhere to pull over for what felt like a billion miles. Tho the road is very wide, it's very fast, lots of semi trucks going 85 and you could go right over the edge. Apparently, I wasn't ready to die yet, because I came damn close. Lol

I've been a bus driver it's not hard just gotta remember to take right turns wider
And USE YOUR MIRRORS!!!
I just became a school bus driver 2 months ago, just in time for the first day of school!
❤️
Best wishes!!
Was the tests and training hard?
How do you like it
I’m in training now. Will be done with training just in time for school
School should employ driver helper to ensure safety of children
We have those in clay county Florida it's called a bus monitor
Dealing with entitled kids and Karen and Darrens parebt would be the biggest worries of doing this job in my opinion
There's are certain percentage of that, but as a driver gains experience, he/she learns to deal with it.

Hahahaha so cute. Yay she did it! 😁
Good job
Ahhh they’re making her drive a fat nose, school bus which some people prefer but the flat noses are so much easier

Yeah I feel like they say 3 minutes just to get people for the job.
It’s no different than driving a car with a boat or a moving van. Seriously no training is required.

Good 😊
Now try it with a bunch of belligerent kids behind you that don't listen.
Which is exactly why I would never be a school bus driver or a teacher.

True. But to get HIRED and carry passengers, trust me, it's VERY regulated (rightfully so- people's KIDS)!

Some school districts like the one I live in offer a pension. That's why I applied. Wish me luck😊

Used to be manual until the 80s. On the bus model in the video (Thomas C2), you can get a manual as an option which is neat.
