canne de combat is stick fighting? but yeah I agree Ubisoft has some good fighting choreographics just waiting for a Silat, Muay Thai or Filipino style like kali or escrima in an assassins creed game
AC 3 had best combat animation but after playing Unity I have to say it had too easy combat.Enemies in Unity are very aggressive and does a lot more damage.
I see what you mean and I hope they'll do a mix of the Syndicate Fighting mechanics (which were also pretty good but way too easy) and the Mechanics of Unity. That could be so awesome. But they should also make the game 18+ so you can rip off body parts and add a bigger amount of blood to the game to make it a little more realistic but I'm afraid this won't happen for any reason when I was younger I somehow got the games I really wanted to play and as a matter of fact Ubisoft does also know this. Let's just hope Empire will be worth the two years of production process
Something I really like about Arno's fighting style is how deceptively brutal they are. I've seen many people complain that after Edward and Connor, Arno had such a tame fighting style, but they haven't been paying attention. Just the two finishers starting at 5:45 with the spear are beyond brutal, and there's more brutal in this video. He LOOKS elegant, but if the game had realistic physics (I mean, with chunks of bodies torn apart), it would be a gorefest.
@The guy From 2069 It's possible. Happened in hockey until they made new masks to prevent it. If you don't cut enough in the neck, it's not a quick death.
I really wish the blunt weapons would actually kill the enemies, rather than just incapacitate them. I mean, the majority of the blunt kills involve a fatal blow to the head, which should kill them.
+ThatAryanGuy In fact there are no fatal strikes. Not any hit on the head is fatal. It depens on the force for example. A hit on the jaw very rarely kills someone. Examples - 3:05 leg and kick in the head - 3:09 leg and jaw (Face)
I thought that blunt weapons were a cheap and uncreative way to allow pacifist runs in the game. "Cheap and uncreative" being that you wield them in the exact same way as the regular bladed weapons, and the only difference is the way the NPCs become either "dead" or "unconscious" ragdolls without really changing the outcome of the game.
I love love love Arno, he was such a badass, he has so much class in his fighting style, his fencing looked almost like he was dancing, he had cool moves in combination with really REALLY brutal finishers! and such variety of them! I think his elegance in certain areas makes people not notice how brutal his kills are! He just did it so smoothly. There were some aspects of combat that took getting used too but Unity probably has best finishing animations of all games!
Elegance and brutality mixed. If only ac origin had this combat system instead but improved in some way like having a double parry if 2 enemies strike at the same time.
0:03 Hidden Blades 0:51 Ledge Kills 1:00 Double Assassinations 1:40 One Handed Sword 3:04 One Handed Mace 3:47 Two Handed Mace 4:34 Spear 6:12 Bludgeon & Dao idk the actual names of the weapons so i just guessed but you're welcome ;)
I like to come back to these AC montages from time to time just for shits and giggles, but I like the way they did Arno's finishers. They are short and simple, and they flow with combat. They aren't too drawn out and it makes the combat much more fluid and realistic.
I know you probably didn't expect a comment after 6 years, but I just discovered Arno has unique sword finishers from the sequence before he becomes an assassin. There's about 2 or 3 of them and they're all nonlethal.
Ubisoft was removing stuff for a experimental combat system. People like it. But people also liked the old combat system. So close to perfection, but they wont listen.
Arno IMO had the best takedowns. They were brutal yet elegant. 5:03 was always my favorite. That's one of the takedowns I still remember after playing over a hundred games.
it's unity, morning stars are non-lethal, there are so many historical/physical errors in unity, I'd say it's by far the most unrealistic ac game, but I still like it
1:42 Love the flamboyance of this move. Exemplifies the fencing style. 2:04 The fact that he did it one handed and incorporated his knee makes it even more badass. 2:22 Also love this finishing manoeuvre. It's like an uppercut but with a sword. 🔥 🔥 🔥
I really miss the assassination animations and the combat animations. I get so board in assassins creed origins doing the same exact animation over and over and over and over again. It makes the game feel bland they need to add the animations back and we need more of them not less of them. I wonder how many years we will have to wait to get a good assassins creed game with more stealth take downs and more combat animations than any game they've ever made in the past. Assassins creed syndicate had a lot imagine a game that has even more. We all know the most fun thing to do in assassins creed origins combat is to do the finisher moves so why don't they add more of them instead of removing them and adding less of them it doesn't make sense they are intentionally making there game less fun by making the combat and stealth not as fun and not as entertaining. I'm sick of it and they desperately need to change it back.
Wth are you talking about. Syndicate had the least combat animations out of all games since AC2. In Syndicate you had only 3 weapon types. Each had 2-3 finishers plus one finisher for 2,3 or 4 people. That makes it a total of 18 moves. Origins has 7 weapon types with 4-5 finishers each. That‘s over 30.

Arno was one of the most skilled assassins ever. His combat included the balanced use of agility and strength. He was also the first one to use kicks effectively in the combat. But at the same time he was skilled with many different types of weapons. For the game, the stupid optimization made it a commercial failure.
Micheal Aranki what he meant by yeah right is this “Dude unity finishers are boring” and someone responds and says “Yeah right” and would show him the more brutal ones
There's also an assassination from behind cover. You have to hold down the sprint button when in cover and press the kill button as the enemy approaches. The enemy can be killed when he's a bit further away from passing your position.
STILL Nice video!!! One tipp: try to hold sprint behind cover and attack when someone is in range. :) (I‘ve never seen those kills or used this weapon) 3:48
This game's story was very confusing because there's only two factions. The guards and the aggressors. When in the real French Revolution, there were several factions vying for power. They attempt to show this using only two faction models. In one scene I recall, an aggressor shouted, "For the king!" And in another, two clearly French guards were cut down by a character who was in the French army. Apparently, they were Prussian (?). It was a nightmare trying to understand it.
