      My 7th grade baseball coach taught that exact motion AROD tries to teach. I can't tell you how many grounders I hit to short stop in high school because of that coach's advice.

      @RiedSalottolo-zc6xu Před 9 měsíci +3

      The reason A-Rod is teaching this way is because that was the hitting theory then. His motions are also over exaggerated while he is explaining. It was more about the feel of the swing.
      It is also "See it and Hit it."
      His swing looks different from what he is saying because his hands still feel to him and are still driving down but his body is naturally reacting to the ball with the arch of the swing creating an inside out swing on a lower pitched ball.
      Swing a bat and feel it instead of watching.

      A-Rod said it creates a long swing but what he meant is it keeps your bat barrel in the zone a long time. Long swing, bat in zone a long time are 2 different things but I get what he meant

    A perfect example of feel vs real. Arod really felt like he was hitting down but that feeling produced something completely different with his actual swing. The golf swing is similar in that regard.

    • @DrongM
      @DrongM Před 9 měsíci +2

      And now try to feel and do what you see by lying barrel flat from shoulder. You get barrel behind ball by quick lower half explosive movement and hands are short to the ball and much more natural than broken weird angles shown on barrel drop videos.

      I have always had the theory that all the best baseball players in the old days apart from Ted Williams had no idea what they where doing and their power came from pure coincidence. I think that’s why the quantity of good baseball players has gone up so much recently. Instead of saying “make ur body like a rubber band and swing down!” And hoping things work out they are actually breaking down the swing and how every single muscle has a role in the baseball swing. U had joe random hitting .220 with one homer in his career because Major League Baseball coaches told him to swing straight down at the ball.

      I think different types of approaches at the plate will affect the type swing a player has. Teaching all young players this new way of swinging, which is basically an upper cut swing, isnt ideal. I mean, the MLB will soon have a super minority of American talent. And this is just one reason why.

If you know what to look for when hitting against a pitcher, you can adjust your swing on the fly. You catch onto a sign or the way he’s throwing or positioning his arm. If I noticed an off speed pitch, I’m adjusting and seeing what that ball is gonna do, is it moving, breaking, then loading up and hitting a dinger lol
