i think he did extremely well for a live preference. most singers these days are always off key when they sing live. He doesn't go off key. he earned my respect.
+Rachel Dumas You're correct. He is on key. He's a good singer. However, today's sound technology includes the little thingy in his ear, so he is able to hear himself, just as he would in the studio. This makes singing live waaaaay easier than back in the day when we used to have to wonder if we were off because we could barely hear! Beautiful song by Lenard Cohen done beautifully by Rufus.
That's because most of them aren't singers; they're dancers, rappers, models and media personalities. This guy is a musician, in the truest sense of the term.

Спасибо Вам за прекрасное исполнение песни. Вы пели душой и сердцем. Я много слышала вариантов этой песни, но для меня Ваше исполнение песни самое лучшее.
"Hallelujah" Well, I heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? Well it goes like this: The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah... Well your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya She tied you to her kitchen chair She broke your throne and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah... Baby, I've been here before I've seen this room and I've walked this floor (you know) I used to live alone before I knew ya And I've seen your flag on the marble arch And love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah... There was a time when you let me know What's really going on below But now you never show that to me, do ya? But remember when I moved in you And the holy dove was moving too And every breath we drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah... Maybe there's a God above But all I've ever learned from love Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya And it's not a cry that you hear at night It's not somebody who's seen the light It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah... Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah... Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah
Simplesmente divina esta interpretação do Rufus... Leonard Cohen deve estar feliz que alguém finalmente fez uma versão extraordinária de sua canção. 🐻 With the pronunciation of [Hallelujah], in words, and in this song, I felt a nostalgic sound somewhere. The pure, innocent, sacred and beautiful feelings of the singer are very well conveyed. I'm convinced that it's basically a song that can only be sung by people who feel like this. There is a hint of close friend and dearness. That's a very good place. And again, like me who has listening ears, I feel that there are many souls and feelings that sympathize with this [Hallelujah] song. The world is the earth, and the earth made me think that the song of [Hallelujah] has a certain essence and core. And I felt a profound expanse in [Hallelujah] psychology. 🌸 Grace, based on my "Japanese", it's highly probable that Google Translate isn't always correctly converted to "English". Not sure exactly where this song first was written, but I know that of all the versions, and all the covers of each version, I like this one best because of how the tones work together between the vocals and instrumental part on the piano, and how stripped back it is. It really is meant to be played like this (acoustic instruments like piano or guitar+maybe bass, combined with the vocals) for best effect. I see covers that people make with too many things like drums, electric instruments and full bands all the time, and in my opinion that just starts to drown out the whole intended feel of the song. At least, it's harder to get the intended feel when there is more going on.
Original version is from Leonard Cohen 1984! Really nice song and has a huge amount of covers that are awesome! Personally this is one of my favourites!
The voice, the emotion, the tenderness that comes out of his version of this masterpiece by Leonard Cohen, performed by Rufus, brings torrents of tears from me every time I listen to it.

What makes you think that?
My man loved Cohen. He cried when he left this earth. He joined him 5 months ago singing Rufus version.
❤
Rufus version will always be THE definitive version. Breaks my soul every time.
You 're absolutely wright
Breaking soul, isn't that kinda missing the point of the song?
Go urgently listen to Jeff Buckley version
Not this version though. Those inhales just irritate me.
It's easy to see that you don't anything bout music or sing
I'm thankful Cohen wrote this song, and I'm glad Buckley popularized it, but I believe Rufus sang it best.
Agreed. Rufus' version is just so stellar!
Listen to k. d. Lang
I've heard about 30+ versions. This is my favorite easily but depending on my mood I call upon other versions to do the trick as well.
I heard Rufus play this at The Wiltern Theater in 2005 and it's still my favorite rendition.
Yeah I kind of agree with you, and I say kind of because I think the one that popularized it more was Shrek xD
His voice gives me goosebumps. It's just beautiful by itself. So magical...
I have listened to many versions of Leonard Cohen's beautiful song, and this my absolute favourite. Rufus Wainwright's voice is sublime.
Rufus played and it pleased the lord.
Hi!
Absolutely
I get chills every time I hear Rufus sing this song. 💖💖💖
So do I. It's been ruined by his nasal whine.
shut the fuck up..
+Kim Hatton i love this version, but this made me laugh so hard
lamusicjunkie41 Me too.
Kim Hatton Pure envy mate!! 😂😂
This is the greatest version of this song I have ever heard hands down. Rufus owns this song. Straight from the heart
I completely agree that this is the best version and it’s not even close.
I like the choir choir choir version better. It seems like his voice has grown richer and more pure. I feel he owns the song too.
K D Lang IMHO does the greatest version.
John Cale

It's certainly not awful but RW has got this nasal, whinging thing in his singing that is an acquired taste...

This version gives me eargasms😅 His voice is out of this world 💖
I love Rufus's amazing voice 😘
MY TOO
Just found Rufus and have totally fallen in love with his voice. Amazing! !
Chris Gardner, give it a while and you’ll fall in love with his everything else.
Same. only five long years after you :D lol
Found him in 2018 and I fell in the same way. That feeling never ends. And with age he's getting better and better, as a singer and songwriter!
By far the best version of this song I’ve ever heard. His voice was meant for this song. Absolutely breathtaking.
By far??? Jeff Buckley (?
Rufus’ voice is a little too nasal for me, but strong cover regardless. But after the man himself, Jeff Buckley was perfection.
YES. Buckley gets a lot of credit- but Rufus’ voice just brings this song to another level.
Спасибо Вам за прекрасное исполнение песни. Вы пели душой и сердцем. Я много слышала вариантов этой песни, но для меня Ваше исполнение песни самое лучшее.

Love Rufus! This is, by far, the very purist rendition ❣️
By far the best version of this brilliant song ever performed. Cry every time
for being from a ridiculously talented family, Rufus has a legitimate authentic personal voice of his very own. that is a nice, nice voice

This is the best version of Hallelujah. I agree Rufus owns this song...lovely, heartful rendition. Bellisima, Rufus! Thank you.
YES!No matter how old he gets or who sings it or who says hes not.NO ONE can sing this song better than him :)
Lovely, moving. He felt it and so did I. Music moves through us sometimes, changes us afterwards. This, does that.
This is my favourite version too, his voice has such a cynical touch to it which adds so much to this song
That's the best description I think I have ever read. Absolutely brilliant comment you described what I couldn't put my finger on for years ❤
You’re SO RIGHT. Was a marvelously astute way to describe it.
This is the voice I'm looking for... Angelic voice!

I love the clarity of his voice. Gorgeous.
