They should definitely put a periodic table somewhere in the passenger section. It'd be much more interesting than all the ads, infotainment screens and whatnot combined!
Agree. Missed opportunity.
A passenger could definitely add one on and it go unnoticed as an imposter, like those guys that put up a huge poster of themselves eating fries etc "ad style" in McDonald's and it hung for over 50 days before anyone noticed it wasn't official corporate POS display.
@@samspencer7765 Maybe if you disguise it as a brand logo or a message to customers or something lol
All the moquettes of the seats should have a periodic table pattern ;)
Fabulous idea!
Getting a tram named after you is something everyone should be striving for.
Congratulations dr!
All we need now is 70 million trams.
There are many trams that were named after I was... Do not see what the fuss is all about.
@@thomaslaparnestudenthbhs6439 I also know about a lot of trains that have been named after I was. Also boats.
It’s DR PROFESSOR PATRICK
Happy birthday, Professor!
PS: The molecule on the tram is 1,2,4,5-tetramethylcyclohexane.
I scrolled and scrolled just to find this
The professor is absolutely the most wholesome person to ever have existed, I hope his legacy outlives all of us! Happy birthday!!!!
"I'm getting so old people don't give me presents much anymore" I just wanna send him birthday gifts now
0:56 As a video editor, when a camera person makes sure that the person being interviewed says and spells out their name, it's wonderful. Because while there may be documents you're _supposed_ to get to be able to put their name on the video, they don't always arrive in time, or they may be wrong.
Hey Jim o/
True. That is immensely helpful.
That's an immense honor for that Tram.
Well done, Professor Sir.
That periodic table coat is fantastic. Makes me want more chemistry clothing myself!
@quietguy3099 correct
Eat your heart out, Neil Tyson.
I love how incredibly humble he is, too. He just thinks it's the greatest thing, and the first thing he has to say is that the others he works with are doing really great things. We could all learn a thing or four from Dr. Poliakoff.
I love how infectiously enthusiastic you are about everything. I never really clicked with chemistry, but I love learning from your videos because it’s abundantly clear you love teaching. I’m so glad to see you honored for your amazing achievements.
Happy belated birthday professor. I hope the tram will be in service for many years.
It's not belated! It's today.
I hope the professor will be in service for many more years :-)
Congratulations, on all your accomplishments! You really are a gift to this world
So wholesome and heartwarming. Never seen the professor so excited.
Yes he was in his element
And it’s now on his Wikipedia page!
Your comment does NOT match your name 🤭
@@niiii_niiii It's the least I can do to subvert expectations. Thanks for noticing 😁
@@shitbag. 😍🤭🤭🤭
Sir Poliakoff is the David Attenborough of chemistry!
Well said! I completely agree.
He is, and, unlike Attenborough, he doesn't have a supercilious and establishment worshipping demeanour about him. Nice guy.
It's fitting that a man who has carried so many students on his back would have a tram named after him.
Professor Poliakoff is a delightful person… It’s wonderful seeing him get recognized for his work having a tram named in his honor.
The molecule is 1,2,4,5-tetramethylcyclohexane.
The highest peak of this compound's mass spectrum is 69.
𝒩𝒪𝐼𝒞𝐸.
wow it actually is real
He is just such a sweet old man, happy birthday Sir professor Martyn Poliakoff!!!!!!
This warmed my heart, what an amazing birthday gift for an amazing person!
I hope he gets an element named after him. Truly a living legend
“The work WE do at the university”. This man and his department is a triumph in teaching chemistry and science to the masses, and he is so humble.
I think this means free rides for the professor if he can catch the exact tram to work or in day to day life.
A periodic table decal across the tram would be awesome too!
"I've got a street named after me" "Yeah? I have a tram that goes through a lot of streets named after me" ❤️ congrats for all you work, Professor, and for this deserved recognition!
You can hear his enthusiasm in every sentence. This is so awesome.
Professor Poliakoff is such a timeless fellow, so lively and pleasant.
Huge congratulations Professor Sir. You know you've made it in life when a tram is named after you!
A little recognition goes a long way, particularly when it's an eponymous tram! Congratulations, Professor!
I had the biggest smile on my face this whole video. So heartwarming. Congratulations Professor!
Bless the professor. Enjoy the videos thoroughly
I love how unabashedly delighted the Professor is!
“How often does this tram stop?”
“Periodically.”
It's so joyful to see the happiness of the professor, it made my day! Love your videos, and happy birthday!!
Legendary chemist and well deserved honour. Congratulations
What a beautiful human being, this man is a walking legend. Cheers, sir!
Aww, this is the nicest thing I've seen all day. Congratulations, Professor Poliakoff! You definitely deserve every bit of recognition you get :)
You've done very important work in helping get entire generations of people interested in chemistry. I myself am working on a chemical engineering degree right now, and I'm sure your videos had at least some influence on that. Thank you!
Hope they play Prof Poliakoff's whole back catalogue on repeat for all the passengers. Well done Sir.
Honestly, this makes me extraordinarily happy to see.
Congratulations to the professor!
I've been having such a bad day, but seeing this heartwarming video really reversed my mood. Glad to see the professor all giddy and excited.
And what an achievement, indeed. Congratulations!
It was a honour that in studied at the University of Nottingham, bar it being in engineering. I rode on these trams nearly everyday it great to see that he got his name on the tram! 😄 congratulations:)
Gosh, I almost cried out of pure joy seeing this.
Love it!
This man has done so much for education and the university. It's amazing, I am glad that he's getting honoured. Godspeed Sir.
Greetings Professor Poliakoff from the USA. I wanted to wish you a happy birthday and to let you know that I am a big fan of you and your CZcams videos on the different elements of the Periodic Table. I enjoy your sense of humor and detail in explaining the elements. Now, to time stamp 0:31, my guess to the molecule is 1,2,4,5-tetramethylcyclohexane. Congratulations on the naming of your Tram, that's pretty amazing!
Professor Poliakoff is just such a wonderful person. I love him so much
What an absolute legend. Such a nice guy and such an amazing educator. A national treasure.
This is so incredibly wholesome, I do love trains and trams, and to see my favorite professor on youtube- even though I have never met him in person. Just feels like a teacher right on my screen. Congrats to him! And a happy belated birthday!
Absolutely deserved!!! Met him once at a lecture at the RWTH University. Could listen to him talk for hours.
What a great gift! Love to see the Professor honored like that.
And as a train engineer I absolutely agree: The button to heat your feet is a great feature. =)
I'm so happy that we are getting so many videos of the Professor, congratulations on the tram naming!
This is very wholesome and cool. Public transport is so important
I like that he is breaking down the elements of the tram. He never does stops thinking about the little things that make up everything.
Well earned Dr. Poliakoff! I never went much beyond my 3rd chemistry class for my Aerospace Undergrad and opted to delve deep into Material Science/Engineering in my Masters Study. Your videos, and explanations have kept the material fresh in my mind which is just as important as learning the new material. Thank you for having such a positive impact on me!
Always a heart warming thing when we celebrate knowledge and the people who try to enlighten the world to that knowledge. Haven't heard of a Prometheus award, but we take what we can. Congratulations Professor, and the rest of the crew behind the channel.
It makes this poor kid from Tennessee it gives me great joy seeing the professor get what recognition he deserves. As someone who indulged on Albert Hormann's proclivity, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart
Brilliant to see this lovely little honour for one of the snappiest dressed chemists & a truly lovely man.
Congratulations professor. Highly deserved
Hi Professor. You got your ears lowered. What an honor getting that tram named after you. Congratulations.
Cracking out the exclusive Martyn emoji.
"When I got an honor from the Queen". That's a pretty humble way of saying you've been knighted.
God bless you, Sir Martyn. You are an international treasure!
Congratulations Professor Sir! The combination of those two titles also made me think if there's an official order in which to use those titles
The Professor is so excited to see the tram named for him. It's so wholesome.
Congrats, Professor!! You deserve it.
0:07 FYI, in Switzerland you can book rides in the driver cab of trains. It’s expensive, and you don’t get to actually take the controls, but you literally sit in the cab with two drivers, one at the controls, the other to explain everything to you. I know a few people who have done it and they absolutely enjoyed it.
So nice and gratifying for the Professor! Love it!
As a former Beeston resident, I couldn't think of a better person to be honoured in this way. Thank you Sir Martyn.
it's such a joy to see the professor being so touched and happy!
Happy Birthday Professor.
Bless you for the many hours of content you and your team have produced over the years.
You are a true treasure.
Dear professor congrats!!! I have my students watch your and your team's videos for chemistry class ath high school. They love them! Thank you for making chemistry more approachable for everybody! Greetings from Bolivia!
This is fantastic! I love that the Professor is recognised at such a level! Happy Birthday, Professor!!
To honor such a gentleman and scholar is such a great gesture!!! Congratulations Sir!!!
Congratulations quite an honor, if I ever get across the pond I would love to ride on your tram.
A highlight of my day is whenever there is a video with Professor Poliakoff. I always stop what I'm doing and watch it immediately. Congratulations Sir!
I wouldn't expect nothing less. Thank you for everything professor.
Marvelous! I barely understand chemistry but somehow discovered The Professor on YT a couple of years ago. I love seeing this recognition for such a wonderful educator.
That’s amazing. You’ve taught me so much professor, not only in terms of chemistry but in terms of spirit and passion. You absolutely deserve this honor ❤️

You, dear Sir, are a gift to mankind. Naming a tram after you is the least we can do to honor you.
