This was around 1am - it woke us up, so i decided to video even though i was literally half asleep, so excuse the poor camera work and lack lustre commentary! I really wasn't expecting a storm!

I think i remember this storm as stayed up to watch it coming as i was tracking it. I knew it was getting closer when the lightning became more frequent and the wind picked up. It threw it down after that.
Happened at the same time as Peterborough, England.
EDIT: Also at 1am.
Oo thanks, I can see what I missed! It woke me up and I just thought “it’s a bit windy!”.
Please excuse the lack of witty commentary and dodgy camera work...one was half asleep!
Richard and Paul well you were more awake than I was!
I was waiting for this 😄
I'm afraid it's not the best I've done....I was literally half asleep...but I really wanted to watch it and share it with you. Thanks Harvey.
I KNEW you'd be filming it 🌩😊x
⚡️🌩⚡️ Fantastic footage, Richard. A real cloud busting night, for sure.
Many thanks for capturing it on camera. East Anglia enjoyed the same conditions.
There's something very special about storm chasing ! Salute . 👌🏼
Well you're very kind....I was half asleep and actually struggling to see what I was doing!
You did it beautifully ! Hope you catch up on some sleep, well, at least when the hot nights are over . ❤️
Totally awesome. 👍😍 We had the yellow weather warning for ⛈but nothing, absolutely nothing happened here in SE London or I slept through it. However I don't think so. Love Thunderstorms. ❤
We had this also thunder not slept tired 😴 rain ☔️ great footage ok ❤️🙃☕️🇬🇧👍🏼🚗🌻🍓☔️😎💋😴🍦🌶🥕🍠🍆🥒🥜🌰🌽🍅🍒🍑🍍🥝
Thankyou! I feel tired too. Off to work now!
I was woken up about 3.45 this morning in Norfolk and the lights kept flickering and going off and our older dog was shaking as he hates loud noises. We did not get much rain though.
Awww poor dog! We didn't have much rain either, and not much thunder.
SW Wales completely missed it☹️
I really wasn't expecting it over London because the forecast seemed to say it would miss us ..glad I captured some of it!
ive just finished q&a pt 2 with vivi, this next comment has nothing do do with that or this but is just an observation of you guys, I cant get out of my head that paul looks like a very contented gene wilder and you Richard with you hair down are a deadringer for jesus Christ, hey you could both get look alike jobs,,,, well made me chuckle, all the best dave in a very very hot france
Good footage
This was around a year ago and I could not sleep through out the whole thing ;-;
I remember this. I was the only one in my family who woke up. Basically woken up, thought it was the appocalypse, went back to sleep, woke up in the morin, no one in my family saw it so i thought it was a dream until i saw a meme on instagram
It feels weird to watch this because I witnessed it for myself. I sat there calling with my friend who lives up north and it was honestly spectacular and beautiful.
It was spectacular wasn't it. Thankyou for watching!
back to where it all began! Im Unequalednebula/cybernebula1918 btw, im re-branding my channel
Beautiful!!! I Love stormy skies. 😉I just watched Vivi's recently uploaded video and she mentions you Richard as the person behind the camera of those Amazingly taken photos of our heavens that I have seen on your facebook page.
I just recently became a subscriber so I'm new to your and Paul's channel, from there I then went to see how long your channel had been around and of course from there to facebook. I was really taken back by your sky photos they are really Beautiful!!
I'm no poet so of course words fail me to properly do them justice in praising them, your work and talent. So I will not even attempt it, but know I Love it and will go over to facebook and admire it. 😉
Thank you both for sharing your talents and knowledge in the garden much appreciated!
You're very kind and thanks so much for the lovely comments!
I was watching this storm here in Bournemouth.
STRANGE But AMAZING.
HAVE NEVER EVER SEEN THIS TYPE OF STORM IN MY 50 YRS.
IT GAVE A GOOD SHOW.
NO LIGHTENING STRIKES SEEN JUST CONSTANT UNRELENTING SILENT FLASHES.
Epic video as always Richard & Paul 👍🏻😀
I am so envious of that awesome perch that you have! The views, no matter what time of the day, are beautiful! Mother natures light storm no tickets necessary! 👍👍👍👍
We are very grateful for the views!
Fabulous footage Richard. That was some storm!
Thanks Kelly! I was actually partially asleep....a good two minutes was completely out of focus as I just couldn't see and only noticed during the edit!!! So I was pleased to get something that was useable!
Very cool. Thanks.
Also in Poland are flooding
Oh no! That's not good!
There are whirlwinds in poland
There are terrible storms in Poland
It was overall quite quiet in Kent
GREAT GOOD Work Thank YOU no fear LOVE Always John shared facebooks twitters pinterests linkedins
Purple Skies IS PLASMA Happening Worldwide YOUTube mike morales IS a very good channel WEATHER WARS
What did I say the other day lol, another good video buddy 👍
I know! Thanks Damien!
Do a lightning live stream!!!!!
I'd love to as long as the storm isn't in the middle of the night!!!
@@RichardandPaul yay hopefully tmrw then!
Strange things happening in the air... Who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!!!!
His dark satanic majesty Boris has enter No 10. The Brexit beast goes slouching onwards towards Jerusalem.
11pm. I look out the window. Clear skies. 'Ah well...see what happens.'
12am. Woke up, far too hot and sticky to stay asleep. Look outside, and see near constant lightning off in the distance. 'Oh yes...'
Even more impressive than the near constant rumbling of thunder and the lightning, was the downpour that came with the storm. Haven't experienced rain that heavy in a very long time. That was monsoon level rain. Thanks for uploading this video, certainly was a lively couple of hours. 👍
For once it was all quiet over here last night Richard.but usually when the thunder is overhead, you almost think the house is going to come off the foundation..hope you got back to sleep okay with all that energy about...
I was still asleep-
Wonderful! I love the fuss & bluster but always appreciate the rain too (no hail thanks very much!). Thanks for staying up Richard. We had a similar storm here in Alberta at 3 this morning & every time there was a bright flash I could see dozens of Canada Geese on the pond LOL
I guess they love a good storm too!
I was still awake because of the heat when it started.......ooooh, it was wonderful.......and to hear the rain.....I wanted to run outside. Great footage of the lightening. :-)
Paul sort of woke me up...and the autopilot, CZcams whore in me, propelled my half asleep ass out of bed. The camera literally flew into my hands. I had to cut several minutes out in the edit as they were completely out of focus...I was rambling along to blurred footage. Oh the joys of being a storm junkie!
@@RichardandPaul Hahahaha - well I'm certainly glad you did capture it. :-)
I love storms, what a whopper!
We had rain this morning. After a couple of days of low 30s C, it was finally cool enough to put on the dishwasher. Mine is a full sized portable, so the water goes in the sink.
Great storm coverage! If I had to film it, I'd set the camera by the window, go pee, and crawl back in bed. With the abundance of freight trains going by, I can sleep through most things.

Impressive!
hi Richard/Paul that was some electrical storm mother nature awesome
This happened to me in London I got do scared because a day ago I watched The God sent me a warning from 3 years ago . AND everybody happens to be watching it in this week or July. APP it's God fighting the devil according to people and that it's a warning that people should change now and pray and seek out to God
I'm an atheist so I don't believe in anything like that. This is simply a weather event.
Tried filming it from Swansea, we couldn't hear anything just great big flashes in the sky. Unfortunately there's a street lamp right outside our house so I didn't have much success. Nicely done even if you were half asleep
Thanks so much!
I'm fascinated by storms. The sounds and smells of a storm at night are amazing. Loved the video
Thanks Karen!
In Cheshire uk it was pretty wild too we normally don't get storms like that but the weather's getting warmer so its to be expected
We've had loads of warm weather in London but very few storms like this.
@@RichardandPaul it must be unbearable in London so many people and vehicles God knows what it is like on the tube
@@dawnfinch8232 fortunately our old house stays cool and neither of us need to use public transport for our work. Where we live is quite green too which helps.
@@RichardandPaul I've visited London a lot I always think of it as one big city but it does have lovely green spaces too
I kept expecting the lightening to light up and suddenly there is a face in the window LOL! My imagination running wild.
Im the same watched to many horror movies
@@dawnfinch8232 LOL I'm glad I'm not the only one!
@@WelcometoChickenlandia Your not I'm sure ha ha
Whoa! We very rarely get anything like that here. But we got some crazy ones back in Texas!
We woke to a deafening thunder clap, then a torrential down pour. Then came the lightning all around us, we were running from the front to the back of the house, the boys were saying ohh wow, it was very strange as it was coming from everywhere. You sounded just like me last night. I loved it. Thanks Richard xx
It was spectacular.
Love this..thanks Richard! Wow 😮 good one..makes one feel in awe and kinda insignificant . Thank you for posting this.
So Majestic we call it heat lightening in 🇺🇸..great job being so sleepy hope you had a few good hours of sleep. Thanks Richard you just give give give to us😍
I was tired this morning but recovered now!
That was beautiful! Thank you for capturing. Even more enjoyable when replayed 4:52 and 8:52 at slowest speed. So much power!
Thanks Sherry!

I heard that last night but was just too darn tired to care. Thanks for giving me a peek. 🌱😊🌱
Yes, so was i! I forced myself to get up!
Was at Jude's last night near Notting Hill Gate area and didn't see or hear anything. Nice vid matey. Glad you got up an filmed otherwise might of missed it.
I might have missed it if I hadn't kept the blinds and windows open...the first couple of cracks woke me....I jumped out of bed, grabbed the camera! Half asleep!
This hit us at around 2am - must have been moving North - we loved it!!
I think there were several clusters moving up the country last night.
Manchester had our thunderstorm at 2 in the morning and it was soooo loud!
So beautiful what nature gives us 🥰 thanks for sharing Richard 😊
You're very welcome!
There was so much and when i woke up to see it i said to myself i bet there both watching!😂
Paul stayed in bed!!!
Should of heard it here last night it was loud, house was shaking too. When I finally got to sleep my son woke me when he got in from work he had a pipistrelle bat in his bed room and we had to try get him out.
Oh goodness me! I would have found that stressful!
@@RichardandPaul it was a bit lol
@Whatswiththat the lightning is the best bit. Fantastic display wasn't it.
Great video guys. It was a bit of a weird night here in Yorkshire too! Never seen so many lightening flashes with no thunder and every few minutes proper fork lightening with thunder. I wont be watering the allotment today lol!
good ole Mother nature, good for the soul, thanks for being up Richard and sharing :)
I was awoken by this last night also but I just couldn't get back to sleep whilst the storm went on which must of been almost 2 hours in my area! It was very warm too last night which didn't help. My eyes are hurting :(
