Christian art has always been a force for the Lord. Paintings, hymns, poetry, sculpture, drama… all the forms of art you can think of have been touched by God to call people to Him. And yet even today, some people don’t understand just how powerful the connection between art and faith really is.
Terry Glaspey is not one of those people.

The discipline! ....that is so true and yet it's so hard to buckle down and do - especially when the creative was something you were made to push to the back burner all your life.
Alot of us have been through that... until we understood that art is how the Kingdom is designed to be released through our lives as artists. It's our design, assignment and calling. Boy I've been there too and still struggle with it. Hard to change a lifetime pattern. But on the positive side " with God all things are possible".

Hey Matt and Terry. This interview is real gold. I was thinking of L'Abri and Francis Schaeffer just recently and thought of revisiting some of his books I read when first saved. I think that was the beginning of the Holy Spirit getting my attention in relation to God in the arts although it was years before it truly sunk in that I carried a unique gift in the context of what Terry spoke about. I noted the Holy Spirit laser beamed your points and challenged me to go deeper into the creativity of God through my creative expressions. It was like a shot in the arm to a new high in the God journey. You may excuse the old hippy Jesus People pun. Terrie's passion reminded me of another pillar in the faith and I thank you for spotting such gold to bring to our attention. Both of you are priceless good soil for the purposes of God. Thank you again. :-)

Yes..I agree with you Terry.. I feel you.. I somehow felt it when I was bashed/ bullied/ suppressed by the religious leaders in our church..they don't know the depth of God's love in art..more than the word's that I felt like a clanging cymbals..i can't feel the love in the sermon.. instead of supporting me.. they don't understand me.. saying how can art can speak or evangelize. Artist are weird they say..but I know God will prove our arts can speak as expression of God's love to the one who looked into it. God bless and thank you Matt for the podcast.. I enjoy it
Matt, Every church I grew up in thought art was worthless and looked down on artists as 'bums' or 'hippies', etc... Dad fought tooth and nail against me being an artist. Even had preachers tell me it was a "sin". I'm 63 and every church I've attended the past few years has frowned on it. But art permeates every aspect of my being. It's been my only constant. So, in order to do my art without getting my head bit off, I finally just stopped attending church entirely.
@Grey Wolf Grafix, dont forsake community of believers. Its the old guard that dont engage with art and see its worth. Look for newer churches (that are still biblically based) Prayers up

Yes as a Christian and an artist people think I should spend all of my time painting only biblical stories. Not that I don’t love them and sometimes I do paint one that’s been on my heart, but that’s not what I’m always led to do

I carve and weld Prophetic Sculptures out of silver and other metals which are based on dreams that I have. I've completed 4 Sculptures at this point and can't seem to find others who are doing this type of one of a kind Prophetic art. I have pictures of my art if you are interested..... Thanks Dr c

What a great interview guys! Terry- I’ve always appreciated your eye and discernment on projects I pitched to you through the years. So excited you have written these books to inspire and mentor Christian artists!
Was told by family & friends that I'm wasting my artistic gifts, it's true and confidence and know how have been blocks as my health physical and mental blocks financial also was a problem, inspiring as always 🙏✝️🛐💜
So many already commented on valid points, but I am also being reminded of my theology, art, and CS Lewis classes at university. (And now my classes for my Masters in Art Therapy). Many times the church pulled away from art, because after coming away from Catholicism (and even some Orthodoxy), it was felt it would become idolatrous. That doesn't even include how those churches also believed in the "mystery" of what cant be explained. (Goodness just think of how many churches Still don't believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit still exist, or that only some are acceptable--where others are evil, eh?) They had good intentions, and simply didnt know what we know now. Sigh. I feel they forgot that God, our Heavenly Father, is also THE Creator. Art and science both come from Him--and they both can be inspired and inspirational. Unfortunately, people in the past and present have suffered for that. We as humans make God too small, so that by keeping God's parameters to fit OUR boxes, keeps it "safe." It's wonderful how now in this time, we are seeing a revival of sorts in this area--more of a fullness of what God Is...and how the arts can Bless others, and ourselves. Mind blowing is right, agree we are bringing something through our art into this world with Holy spirit that's not been before. That's diffinitly my path, yet starting from beginning and so much to learn to get it on canvas, I play , I watch other artists, Much more to learn. Slow step by step process.
