There was drama at the Monaco Historique where veteran driver Jean Alesi was taken out by Marco Werner. Alesi was leading the 1973-76 F1 era car race and holding off a determined second placed Werner. But with just three laps remaining Werner's Lotus 77 ran into the back Alesi's Ferrari 312B3, ending Alesi's race and putting Werner into the lead.

It's sad to see those cars crash but better they are used for racing instead of let to rot!

It's awesome to see these cars still out on track being used for their purpose. Same thing as with vintage instruments, if they're just gonna sit lifelessly in some exhibit to be looked at from afar they may as well not exist anymore.

Even in historic races, Ferrari can't catch a break.

Jean Alesi is my f1 childhood hero and this race is another example of why. Passion, incredible talent, style, heart on sleeve courage and endless bad luck. All the elements of the romantic hero. Really at 56 that he's still able to stir these emotions is a pure joy.
