Montaggio della scena "Le mot Phœbus"/ "La parola Febo"/"La palabra Febo" in cinque versioni del musical "Notre Dame de Paris": Francese Italiano Coreano Spagnolo Russo
Well, I'd say French version is the best. Bruno and Hélène both have amazing voices and I like all those subtle dynamics between them (like the way he quickly and shortly looked at her when she sang "He's the one for whom my heart beats" or her face when she said it). Also French language seems to flow with the music and is very pleasant to listen to here. Overall I think original French NDdP cast is unbeatable. All actors were perfect for their roles.
@@002720336302337 I think because Esmeralda's charachter it's childish girl and very ingenuous who immediately falls in love with Phoebus and sees him as his prince, in French version does not respect the character described in the novel at all, since she looks like a very provocative adult woman and not a girl who is discovering the world of lust

(I am not even sure the France french would have played the scene the same way) (now please note that in the following is culturally viewed from a french Canadian point of view and I mean no offense, we all see the world different ways, and that is what makes this interesting. Also, I do not know any of those languages so I might be missing stuff with the voice intonations and the words used. MedievalVixen she saved his life. He admits he's not a ladies man, but wants her as a muse for his poetry. Other theories suggest he is in love with Frollo.
This is five years later but I love what you wrote about this - it’s the same thing I thought actually; it’s so interesting to see different cultures portrayed in a singing/acting interpretation And being italian that has now seen the different versions and read your comment, I would say that the italian version is indeed actually more playful and ‘libertine’ in a way. Gringoire is well aware that Esmeralda has married him for the only purpose of saving his life, and also of the fact that she is so young and playful (the Italian Esmeralda is more prone to physical contact and ‘mocking’ him and being all smiley and stuff)... so he just wants to find an emotional connection with her in an artistic way (literally: ‘I don’t use to spend my time chasing ladies, but if you’d like, you could be my inspirational muse; what do you think about it?’) Moreover, in that last sentence (‘what do you think?’) he backs off smiling, creating more space between them, and that shows his not-so-deep interest in her, because he’s got his own freedom due to being a poet... What I mean by this is that I find this particular interpretation of Gringoire to mainly portray his artistic aspect, his devotion to poetry- the fact that he seems, more than the other versions in my opinion, so IN LOVE with poetry in the first place, that he is not even THAT interested in Esmeralda (if not on a spiritual level). Look at how lost he looks, explaining what Phoebus means gazing towards the sky as if he’s lost in his own words, smiling, talking about the etymology... i mean it’s just my interpretation but I hope someone can see what I’m trying to say :)
The French Esmeralda seems to have more character than the others, but comes off as seeming older than she is. The Italian one is very passionate, and comes across as being blinded by her love. The Korean and Spanish ones seem more 'innocent' shall we say. The audio of the Russian video was too poor for me to pass comment.
I should never be in a position to judge these performances because my huge crush on Bruno Pelletier makes it impossible to be fair. ...I liked the Korean version the best of those other than French :D
actually they forget the point that there are just people how now each other only has commoner people live in the same atea . it was the first who talk each other its logical to be more distant person.. the other version is not more acting its more .'' hey you arre my wife we live be together '' its strange i have saw twice the original show when i was 8 years old ., the second time it was damien sargue who replace grigoir it was better play .
Of course italian and french are the best versions but i still prefer the italian actors probably because ive become attached to them.. Lola is the best Esmeralda hands down tho
Secondo me la nostra è molto bella. Esmeralda, in quella Francese, è troppo anziana.

French will always be best for Bruno alone. He's easily the best actor of all adaptations, his face is so expressive! Italian is fine but they seem to just kind of gesture around instead of emoting facially, which is kinda weak. Their voices are nice, I think the Esmeraldas are about on par, but ain't no one beating Bruno
I love the Italian version but there is just something I can't stant. Originally it's "By Jove, who on earth dares to have such a name?" But the meaning in Italian is "Oh, what an hot [In terms of temperature, joking about the sun] name. Who has it? Who could he be?". I prefer the surprise of the french version, the verb DARE, as if having Phoebus as name means to challenge the god Apollo himself.
Splittersplatter Yeah. The English version (I watch all the time dubbed over the Italian cast) goes, "Who on Earth could dare to wear a name so fine; Who has such pride?" Which is way closer to the French one.
Of course French version is best, but Italian esmeralda is also soooo charming and emotional...

Grimmoire deserves all that is good.
THANKS THANKS
aga açık olalım bruno ve helene zaten zirvede başlattılar
yani diyorum ki LOVE FRENCH VERSION
@Erion75
Ehi, hai ragione.
E' vero!
I feel the same
Rien comme le français :)
The timing honestly only works for French. The others are all rushed.
Agreed
for italian is perfect too.
Agree
j'avoue!
French version is the best
@Ottowildrums
