- This is just an overview of all the schools in wizard101 as well as their strengths and weaknesses. I hope this helps you figure what school to choose as you begin your wizard101 journey :)

Honest Review of the Balance School: It's Better At Questing than You Think
I quested solo on a balance wizard through the entire first and second arc. As for fighting balance type monsters, that's when you use spells like spectral blast (critical spectral blast combined with a high enough damage bonus can nuke almost balance monster), hydra, chimera, gaze of fate, etc.... You add to this balance gets it's first aoe spell fairly early in the game. They also get spells like Judgement, Ra, and Sandworm that can wreak havoc on monsters. A balance wizard with decent gear and a fairly strategic mind can solo just about anything. They are probably second to the death school in soloing capacity, with a decent amount of health and a lot of useful attack spells as well as support spells that allow for a flexible play style.
Balance can just shield up and throw weaknesses around and still win usually just using judgement and seeing as shields and debuffs are free you aren't really easy to take down. Ice plays similar but can't get past resistances as well as balance, yet they have the most health so it balances out a bit. I think Balance is number one though for sure after playing every school aside from storm.
My first ever character was a death wizard and I HIGHLY recommend it. Now, I’m going to try out Myth because I’ve heard many good things about it.

When I started Wiz my first Wizard was from the death school so I think it’s the best in my opinion. You hit but also heal at the same time, and feint is amazing. The only bad thing about Death is that you don’t have many spells that hit all enemies which kinda sucks... But overall is great and I definitely suggest if you’re a beginning player that you choose Death, you won’t regret it.
It’s hard to want to play anything else coming from Death. I’m strictly solo and I’ve tried a lot of the other schools and I just end up missing my drains.
I honestly LOVE storm, im lvl 26 now. I am not a member so it is holding me back from leveling but im almost done with krok and have done all the side quests I can find. Questing with a storm is easy as long as you arent alone.

but its the worst school lol it does less damage than life for a while
do not pick myth, you'll regret it because you only get humongofrog for an aoe and it's unfair
If I am correct for the schools and what they specialize in is:
Fire: DOT(Damage over time)
Storm: Damage
Ice: Defense, Stun, and great health
Death: stealing health and dealing damage
Myth: minions
Life: Healing
Balance: balanced; has great health and spells help every one, even the enemies sometimes😰

Fire is not just DOTs, they have single hits and are basically the 2nd best hitters in the game, second to storm. Myth is not just minions either, they are heavily focused on 1. minions 2. often hit for a good amount of damage but a lot of times have their own side effects, also, balance doesn't help the enemies. Everything else is correct.

you realize fire doesn't "focus" on DOTs because they have multiple DOT spells, death has DOT spells, ice does, myth does. ice doesn't focus on stun either, myth has stuns too and that doesn't mean they focus on stuns, however; you can play schools however you like, you can be offensive with life, offensive with ice; etc.

I love my Fire and Thunder mix. Honestly, it may seem intimidating but really your health/fizzle rate isn’t too bad. Those schools seem kind of a bad mix but it works for me! And, their spell animations are super cool! 🔥 🐍

I did fine on storm as solo. But it was my second wizard after fire. I soloed until the malistare dungeon pretty much. It just takes strategy and luck and farming gear.
As a fire student, I depend on my life friend for healing (and she depends on me for damage lol) We’re around lvl 40 in dragonspyre :)
every school can solo easily once you get a good deck setup and know what u doing
Fire: Fire is really powerful, but I suggest having a Life mage with you.
Myth: Myth mage’s spawns minions that help you fight, over all they have good attack. Plus I LOVE the attacks lol.
Death: They can steal the opponents health which is really good, and they have very good attacks I suggest choosing the death school
Life: They have healing spells and they’re very good in a group. At first they have kinda bad attacks, but whenever you get up for higher lvl they have very good attacks (fun fact I’m a Life mage)
Ice: They have a lot of health but the attack is very very low, I suggest going in a group.
Balance: this is a really cool school, i don’t really like how high the attack is, but I suggest this school, i started out picking this school I think but I gave up being bored with it. But I suggest you don’t be me and try this school out XD
Storm (so sorry, I forgot this one ;-; lol). Storm is the most power-fullest wizard in the game, but, they have a VERY high fizzle rate and it can get really annoying, I suggest picking this school! But maybe not for your first wizard so you understand what you need to not fizzle.

I’m trying to figure out a school that I can go into. I haven’t always been in depth to the game (PvP, and the next levels) and I decided to join back and may learn more about Wizard101. Now, I’m trying to think of a school to join into. Like you said, Fire is a good starting school to start off as. Then, ice is a good starting school for PVP. I want to have one wizard that I can use my membership for since I don’t want to go overboard and now I must make my decision between Ice and Fire. I personally don’t want to choose Ice even tho I would like to start PvP. I would LOVE to join Myth. Yet, some of the things I’ve heard about it makes me iffy. Then, death. Doesn’t sound great for PvP, tho I’ve heard that Death can have some good pros to it for PvP and it is a good questing school. I’m a solo player myself and there are many schools I can choose from. Sorry for the long message, can I get some feedback for starting Wizard101 for the rest of the game? (If that made sense)

If you like visually stunning graphics, storm is my personal favorite school. But the look of spells comes to personal preference.
Fire was my first school and it's still my favorite.
I don't really have trouble with questing, as a Balance, I chose Life as my secondary school, for better healing, because of power pips, I hardly ever us Life attacks, unless I'm going against anoth Balance, in which case, I do use Life attacks quite frequently. Sometimes, I do team up with others, most of the time I'm helping lower level people.

I've gotta say. I've tried every school (I have two accounts), and my least favorite is Myth. Is just seems to be all over the place, like it has no focus. I'm much more of a Life and Fire (my favorite team) or Life and Balance (my support-my-friends team), though my Ice/Life and Storm team does well, too. Death and Myth, on the other hand, I just don't like. Still, I recommend trying different schools and seeing how you feel about them. Just because I don't like Myth, that doesn't mean someone else might not love it. You do you! :)

It's weird because I'm a life wizard and have storm as my secondary school in Wizard101 and I'm a swashbuckler in Pirate101 and have privateer as my secondary school. Lol it's weird right.

Ice dmg scales because of the 40% buff on dmg. Max lvl ice can deal a TON.
Balance>Myth>Ice>Fire>>Death>Life>Storm in PVP, questing wise it's pretty much the opposite although Balance can be very good if you build them the right way and make sure to get Tower Shield, Feint, and Satyr. If you make sure to get such spells you could actually be potentially the best school for everything overall. You have amazing shields, buffs, and debuffs to start with and when you combine Balance with other schools most useful spells you can get through anything guaranteed. A bladed and feinted judgement strategy with a ton of shields, weaknesses, and a few heals can basically defeat almost any boss and most of the spells in it cost zero pips. For attack all they suffer horribly with just sandstorm until level 52 with Ra and by then half the games story is over.
If your battling alone as balance you can manage, but in group battles with friends I'd suggest buffing or just weakening the boss a bit so it can get defeated by a fire dragon or something similar that get's spammed.
In fact I'd say the only weakness Balance really has is it's lack of multi-target spells and a prism spell. I've played all the school's until 50+ besides Storm so I know how to gauge their effectiveness I think but if I'm wrong feel free to point it out.

Which one seems cool to you is which you should choose, couldn't matter less unless you wanted to fill a specific role. Also doesn't matter because there is nothing to do in the game PvE wise once you hit level cap

I’d really appreciate if some high level could help me in dragonspyre for my life. I’m a level 46 and I struggle with it because mainly life is a supporting role, and it’s extremely hard to solo quest later on.
I also have a level 26 myth
A level 32 storm
And 2 level 10 fires
And I believe one level 15 ice
I’m most likely deleting my ice and one of the fires because I created them so long ago (I have been playing since 2011) but my og wizard is my life, and at times I really wish I didn’t pick the school.
But if you’d like to help me just reply and we can arrange stuff (I don’t have text chat because I entered the wrong birthday in when I started)

Early on, Balance Enemies dont have high resist, and later you get Hydra and Chimera so thats not that big of a deal
Since I only recently started playing again I have to solo most things I do, including Azteca.
Balance is advanced bro, sometimes if you balance blade and an enemy puts a tower shield, you can't remove the shield with a wand attack without removing your blade.
Balance wizards make storm wizards rage in pvp since they can adjust just about everything. Balance school provides all shields except for a balance shield, has higher health compared to balance, and has a fair amount of accuracy
overall i think best choice is fire

...life for tank pvp (? not much experience), be the healer
...death for presure pvp (best at 60 imo)
just make yourself a storm and ice...thats practicly all you need if you don't have that much time to play

I honestly think storm is the best school for high level, questing and pvp when first age pvp came I was 3002 in rank for storm and lvl 90 now the lvl 125 storm is just insane you can have pierce up to 50% and 160 damage with almost critical 99% of the time.

Nick Mozzicato they have the most resist and health even if it’s slow their ability to last is what makes them ultimately useful and tbh with enchantments even ice can get good damage heck one of my friends is ice and he can beat every boss and minion in one hit after about 4-6 turns he’s in khrysalis at the moment
Ice and balance dominate in pvp bro. A max lvl ice wizard can even reach 10000 health. Storm is a fast school but will struggle in longer battles which favours ice wizards.
The highest level I ever got on w101 was on a fire wizard. I think this school is completely pointless. It’s 75% accurate and the second strongest school, so naturally it’s the second least accurate next to storm. But storm wizards get a spell early on to improve accuracy to 80%. So fire fizzles 25% of the time and isn’t even the strongest school. Then, traps and blades and most buffs are redundant with most fire spells because all of those buffs will be wasted on the weak damage fire does at first before doing the rest of the damage over three rounds, which only serves to waste your buffs and give your enemies more time to kill you! I love the personality and lore and how the spells look but fire is pointless in practical terms.

Blades affect the DoT too, not just the first hit, and fizzling doesn’t come up once your gear gets better (which isn’t that long away). The low damage at the start of many DoT spells makes fire shields ineffective, so unlike other schools, you won’t be hindered by them. Their all attacks are great with Meteor and Fire Dragon (Which, might I add, has plenty of time to place a few traps or a feint at any point), and they are so close to Storm in damage. As for traps, you seem to just be flat-out ignoring Fuel. Not only that, but you can place a trap after you cast a DoT in the down time while you charge your next spell. You can also heal during your DoT and use tower (which you should train). Are you using Fireblade? Elemental Blade? These give 556-629 per enemy with meteor and 945-1069 to a boss (feint) with 695-786 to minions (squeezing in a trap for each). Fire shield and immolate does 1275 for 5 pips (w/fient and fire trap) and only does 50 self damage (and that’s not including resistance). Fire Dragon then does 1704 (feint & trap) with still 640 over 3 rounds and 802 with 640 over 3 rounds for the minions. What about Wyldfire? You could use an early Brimstone to boost your spells further. If you’re duo, there’s some potent combos there too. Honestly, this is just what I can remember, there’s probably way more things. Fire is potent to the max and we didn’t even speak about the other boosts from gear or pets or such.

I wasn't impressed with this video. For starters, yes fire and storm are strong schools but that doesn't change that the other schools are not totally support or rank schools. I'm not much for pop so no comment there, but I love playing the other schools and it's just an understanding of what the other classes can do and the class you're playing, like balance v balance you then play element/spirit v balance characters, otherwise it's a long fight. Again understand what type character you play and play to advantage and you'll have more fun.

It depends. Storm does more burst/up front damage, but Fire still has competitive damage and can keep up pressure with the DoTs.

If you can manage multiple dots at once than fire is best with damage but for storm you hit harder faster, but im 45 storm and struggling in dragonspyre bosses with only 1900 hp but 60% ppc, 57% storm damage boost, and 8% crit, i struggle with health but till i hit 48 for storm lord i trust on temp to help
