      It’s the same reason Anna Gunn still gets hate for playing Skylar White on Breaking Bad. A man as a villain is “endearing” and “relatable”, a woman as an antagonist is a bitch. Society is pretty effed in that instance. Not to mention that she is the face you see, nobody ever blames the company for not buying more to stock their shelves, but they get mad at the shelf boys because that’s who they see.

    It’s wierd how the girl was getting hate even thought she was asked to act just like the men? They all consented to a ridiculous prank and they all never expected it to turn out the way it did. Yet the creators of the video, who directed them are not getting hate whatsoever. It’s ridiculous.

    • @arianagarcia732

      I bet the majority of the backlash was men feeling offended that men were "tricked" (and once it came out that the video was fake they decided to double down and take a serious issue and use this video as proof that women are liars because apparently that was the take away instead of producers that took advantage of an actual epidemic that effects both women and men) it's far easier to be angry at a woman as opposed to men because men in these situations who are painted in negative light can be easily seen as victims and sympathized with. Most could say she knew what she was doing and she was just setting up a bad reputation for men in general and especially the men in the videos (when let's be real there are already negative feelings towards males in general because we all watch the news or know a friend who's been in a similar situation or you yourself may have been at the recieving end of a males attempt at potentially harming you for 5 seconds of pleasure). I can see why women would be angry that a serious issue was used as a "prank" and just as a means of getting clout online and making it easier for men in real life to diminish a genuine problem by simply pointing to this video and accusing women of being a monolith that thrive off of lying on men. It's gross she got so much backlash when both the men and herself said the things they said outloud and never once thought "hmm this is kind of weird...where's the joke?" they should've been able to tell from the jump that the joke is "men take advantage of women whenever the opportunity presents itself" which isn't giggle worthy in the slightest. I also don't get how the men thought that saying weird shit and walking away with an "intoxicated" woman WOULDN'T get them backlash like dude that just makes y'all look gross why even participate?

    • @ioncekilledamanwithmyshoe
      @ioncekilledamanwithmyshoe Před 2 lety +176

      I think it was mainly because she was the face of the prank. She was the one that was the “host”. Because the directors never showed their faces, people just targeted the girl that did show herself. Many probably didn’t realize she didn’t have as much to do with it then they thought and may have thought she was involved in a lot of the production. The men were shown to be kind of clueless during the filming, not knowing the context it would be shown in because they weren’t a part of it at first while the girl was.
      That tends to happen with a lot of things that get backlash. People kind of tend to blame the face of a project when it gets backlash. Kind of like the whole Scarlett Johansson Ghost in the Shell thing. She was mainly the one with got backlash when there was also the casting directors and others behind the scene to blame as well.

The folks who focus on these type of things were writing articles like "See, this is what Women have to deal with". But then the bottom fell out when someone noticed that 95% of the Men pursuing her weren't white. Leading to them being called racist trying to make Men of color look bad. It was all pretty insane. In fact, the insane reaction surrounding that video is why I remember it.

    I did bit-acting in the past. It is a huge problem in the industry that the producers don't fully disclose the goal of the projects. They let the small actors play some roles but how it will be presented on the media is not fully known to the actors.
    Actors who work with bigger agencies are protected from such things because their agent gets every single detail about the project, so that they can take the decision whether they are OK with it or not, but with small actors, they don't respect them enough to explain them the project in detail, so they use their nativity and also despair to get into the industry.

    As men I don't think we realise how many other men will destroy the lives of women or how much we can prevent that when we're out at clubs

    • @stone4070
      @stone4070 Před 2 lety +18

      Yup. People don't realise just how common it is for men to prey on drunk women and to even drug them. It's so easy to slip a drug into a drink or to inject someone without them knowing. Not enough men actually give a fuck about it, and it makes me feel unsafe literally everywhere I go.

      The SAD thing is we shouldn’t have to always be looking for somewhere safe 🤷🏼‍♀️ Also I wouldn’t necessarily trust a cop- I support cops, but just like anyone else, not all are good- there was a male cop who was raping females he was supposed to be giving safety rides (from the bar) to 🤷🏼‍♀️ Men have no idea what it’s like to be a woman or walk a mile in our shoes... we have to worry about many things men never even think about 🤷🏼‍♀️ And it’s bc of men ... for F sake I even remember when I was at a train station after a red eye flight trying to get back home for work after an extended holiday weekend and I was there a few hours early to make sure I had everything in order and that I made it to the station (this was the first time I would have to depend on the train to make it to work)- and thank goodness cops patrol stations over in Europe bc after I had been there about 30 minutes- I got my ticket, freshened up, then sat down, a group of 3 men showed up and sat like 5 rows behind me on this seating area for waiting (no problem), then one of them came and sat right next to me and started creepily looking at me up and down- I got up immediately and did a safety trick of turning right for a few steps then left and he was following me- I went from speed walking to running and he followed me to within 5 feet of these heavily armed cops I ran to (many cops in Europe are heavily armed by American standards) 🤷🏼‍♀️He was so creepy creeping on me, he didn’t even notice the group of cops... those cops thank goodness took care of the situation and stood guard around me for a while until more ppl were showing up and shops were opening up in the station (the main cop I had spoken to even asked if I felt ok that they leave; but I mean it was a SCENE to have 5 cops surrounding me for MY SAFETY) 🤷🏼‍♀️ The thing is we shouldn’t have to deal with things like that and a man would never have something like that happen to them.🤷🏼‍♀️ Let alone think twice about someone sitting next to them or feel like someone is going to rap3 them in public 🤷🏼‍♀️ My friends and I have even prevented creepy men from kidnapping other women we don’t even know from bars 🤷🏼‍♀️ Do men ever worry about being kidnapped by creeps? I don’t think so... I would say society needs a stronger stance against those that commit sexual based offenses-some rapists even serve no time if they have money for good lawyers or are rich enough they hire other men to “take care of” any victims speaking up by threatening them 🤷🏼‍♀️

    The worst part about this whole thing to me is that it downplays the reality. I worked (Starbucks) on the Strip (Vegas) and have seen behavior like this. I myself was asked “how much” because I dared wear a skirt and button up shirt after work. They could have sincerely and seriously done this experiment at night without actors and likely would have gotten similar behavior. But instead they fabricated it and set up the precedent to doubt

    • @candicecart9786
      @candicecart9786 Před 2 lety +2

      Yep- these scenarios happen every day... usually at night near or in bars/clubs... And you commenting about someone asking you how much, I was followed by men in a subway station in paris once (I’ve used the subway there many times without issue before that), asking me how much as well... also when I lived overseas I was taking a very early morning train back to where I was living (to make it to work after an extended holiday weekend) and rather than getting a hotel (bc I would’ve been there like 2 hours, I just went from the airport to the train station to make sure I would get a ticket and get to the station as it can be hard to find a ride to the train station at like 3am 🤣). While waiting for the train on a section below the platform, some creeps sat behind me on some benches. Then one of them came and sat next to me, looking at me all creepy- so I got up and he followed, I turned right, he turned right right behind me so then I quickly went left instead... thank goodness police patrol the stations and I saw them- I ran to them and the guy was even running after me (and police in Europe are crazy- they carry automatic rifles)- I reached them and told them what was happening... they approached the guy who started going back to his buddies and his buddies and they got kicked out bc they didn’t have tickets (which between like 12am-5am is a requirement)- they asked me for my ticket as well and the police stayed there and guarded me like angels until it was almost time for my train and more ppl were showing up! Those policemen were great (albeit I was a little afraid as I was running toward them they would think I was a threat; but I was more afraid of the creep trying to rap3 me or steal from me- there were huge rap3 events in Europe bc there was a wave of Muslim men immigrating into Europe and they were forcing their “cultural beliefs” that they could rap3 any woman they wanted- merkel got huge backlash for it bc she basically invited them)

      @MsPoliteRants Před 2 lety

      @@candicecart9786 that’s so terrifying. Honestly that’s why I am all about women carrying weapons. I know Europe doesn’t like their citizens being armed but if women were literally issued guns and training for free by the government, they’d feel a lot safer, and may even BE safer cause men would expect them to be armed and be afraid to attack them like this. I’m glad the police were close enough so you were able to escape to them!
