  • It’s not a surprise to most of us that water destroys RV’s, but how many of you know how to prevent it? You’ll see tons of RV tips from creators like myself talking about maintaining seals, but how often do we talk about preventing RV plumbing leaks? following this advice will help prevent those unexpected leaks, or worse, a flood.

A few years back, we were looking at used travel trailer at a dealership that I won’t name, beautiful unit, until I opened up the bathroom door, the floor was completely trashed from water damage, either someone left open the roof vent or damaged from taking showers. I couldn’t believe a dealership would try and sell that unit with a clear conscience

    In general very sound advice
While you are minimizing the chance for leaks if someone has sanitized lines and is getting drinking water through the line you must leave pressurized
Water line pressure has to be over 55 psi to prevent pathogen growth
Personally I don’t drink RV water and am grossed out by ice makers in them but some do. These people need to leave lines pressurized

I live on my friends lot, hooked up to their water system, which is connected to well water..does this concept still apply? Since I’m using their water, I don’t think I’d be able to turn it off as we all use it.

If you are connected via water hose connected to a spigot, just turn the spigot valve off. No need to turn off the main water feed to the house.
