Yeah but she’s doing this movie with her husband. He directed it. So she keeps choosing these projects. I think she has enough money that she could take a break from this crap and hold out for a good script. Adam Sandler does his Happy Madison films but then occasionally does a serious film like Uncut Gems.
As much as I love her, she is choosing /doing this to herself. Most of these press, play and repeat movies she does with her husband who directs them. Melissa McCarthy was so good in Can You Ever Forgive Me. I wish she did more dramas.
Same!
I posted the same sentiment but about St Vincent.
She only sucks in her husband movies. She is a quite good actress, but even she cant save his hubbis abysmal movies. All of Falcone movies suck big time and only his wife agrees to play the lead role.
The best part of this film was Jason Bateman shuffling sideways out of frame clicking his crab claws
Jeremy I gotta say, throughout this pandemic there has not been a lot of movies coming out and hence not a lot of movie reviews coming. I've genuinely missed your reviews a lot, you're a fantastic movie reviewer and your content has always been fantastic and I'd always agree with your opinions on film, I can't wait to be able to see more content from you hopefully soon.

Melissa’s best role for me will always be Sookie on Gilmore Girls.
Replace best with most tolerable.
She is the same character in every movie. The same annoying one
Never saw her in Gilmore Girls, thought she was great in bridesmaids but then everything else after that I saw from her felt like a variation on that character..
That spy movie she did was pretty funny too. But I agree, she plays the same character. I’m assuming since that spot movie was the last I saw of hers
For me it’s the “pass that mash” skit in SNL. Also when she plays Michael Che’s stepmom. Also an SNL sketch.
Spot on review went in with open mind came out brain dead such mind numbing film.
Also how did they get Octavia Spencer to do this you pure get the feeling she regrets signing up for this one through her performance
It would have been a wonderful movie if Spencer got the invincible serum and McCarthy was the invisible one. And maybe not have had her husband direct the movie. There's nothing wrong with a Black Woman leading a movie as an Super Powered Hero!!
Her and Jason Statham had such good chemistry in Spy. Been hoping for a sequel...someday.
I honestly enjoyed that movie
not every movie needs a sequel
Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone are just the comedy versions of Paul W.S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich
Nailed it
Except the latter bring in big bucks
Or rob zombie and sherri moon or len wiseman and kate beckinsale.
I think people forget that Melissa McCarthy is capable of more. Spy 2015 is solid, she won an award for Mike & Molly, and she was great in the drama Can You Ever Forgive Me?
Not really
She’s not funny
And all here movies are garbage
@@BurningRubber454 its your opinion that she isn't funny. When she has a great supporting cast she is decent. Like The Heat or Spy. I mean there is a reason why she is in a lot of movies
Jeremy bro! I been a longtime subscriber, if there was anything I would request you to ever review its Mr Robot. You won’t regret it man
I still argue the best Melissa McCarthy movie is Heat with Sandra Bullock and identity theft with Patrick Bateman. Those genuinely had me laughing
I like Heat and Spy. Personally didn’t like Identity Thief.
@@luckyDancer100 same here. Heat and Spy. Thought Identity Thief was a little overrated
Most of Heat was good.
Primarily because of Sandra Bullock.
Identity Thief and Spy both sucked.
Largely because of McCarthy and her brand of "humor". But Jason Bateman and Jason Statham were entertaining.
Fact is, all of her movies are mediocre at best. And melissa is never the good part of the movie.
@@luckyDancer100 yea, spy was pretty good
Patrick Bateman is a fictional serial killer.

. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - Disney+

Just wondering, has Jeremy watched the Netflix series "DARK"? If he does this series as an episodic review or season reviews, I would watch it again. Dang! Why would he miss this one though.
This movie seemed like it was supposed to be bad on purpose and thats what was kind of funny. Also Jason Batemans scene at the restaurant was great!

Anyone else remember Melissa McCarthy in "Can You Ever Forgive Me?" or "Spy"? Remember how she was actually great in those, especially the former? So stupid she keeps getting typecast as the "I'm fat, obnoxious, unfunny, and crass" character. What a waste.
Yeah but she’s doing this movie with her husband. He directed it. So she keeps choosing these projects. I think she has enough money that she could take a break from this crap and hold out for a good script. Adam Sandler does his Happy Madison films but then occasionally does a serious film like Uncut Gems.
@@bayonetababe9697 Great point. Fully agreed on taking a break to wait to either piece together, or have it given to her, a great script.
As much as I love her, she is choosing /doing this to herself. Most of these press, play and repeat movies she does with her husband who directs them. Hwr best movies and performances are movies that he is not involved in, I.E Spy, Can you forgive me... She's gonna do whatever movie her husband writes and directs. So unless she culls that working part of there relationship she will continue to get dragged for these types of movies
Great point concerning the difference between comedy onscreen versus offscreen.
Knew the movie wasn't going to be good from the poster, but it's cool to see metal musicians creating original pieces for movies again. Shame this had to be the first one in a while, but I'll take what I can get

I lasted until both got their uniforms and then I left. I appreciated Melissa Leo's snarky remarks as the head of security. Taylor Mosby as Tracy, Emily Stanton (Octavia Spencer's daughter), was engaging and likable. This movie just dragged so much that I even bailed before seeing Jason Bateman's scenes which probably were funny.
The only movie of Melissa Mcarthy that has made me laugh to tears was Spy. Good times.
Spy and heat
No way Bridesmaids was hilarious
Isn’t there a new Idris Elba western on Netflix that you could’ve reviewed
Melissa McCarthy reminds me of Kevin James: stuck in a Hollywood stereotype with a few successful films but does AMAZING on their own. She needs to do her own stuff. I bet she can be really funny
To the person who said she's the female Adam Sandler, that's freaking true haha. But yeah there are a lot of movies she's in that aren't good. This one included, but when she's directed right she's amazing. I freaking love Spy, can rewatch it for days.
I actually look up to Adam Sandler, yes he has A FEW bad movies, but the heart is in all of them! This is just sloppy copy crew.

Don't say nothing about Lobster Hand Larry. He's had a rough life. We don't question where he gets his money.
The little "blurb" for this movie is front and center on Canadian Netflix. They picked the scene where "Kiss From a Rose" was playing and Melissa was off-key. That right there earned a "nope" in my book.
I thought Thunder Force sounded like the name of a Genesis/Mega Drive shooter series.
