There were endless warnings to kids not to copy Captain Scarlet when I first watched this. I don't remember ever wanting to get blown up or fall from a tall building, but I did want to drive an SPV.
This episode is like a remake of *Big Ben Strike Again* ~ The Mysterons steal a truck with nuclear device to self-destruct it before hiding it for their latest plot.
Notice the reactor is very similar to the nuclear device in that episode. They even using the same truck, but with two seats in the front.
You'd imagine Captain Scarlet and Captain Blue would have PTSD from all the deaths, but they seem quite chipper at the start of every episode. Well done Dr Fawn?

There’s one thing about this episode that’s always puzzled me. If the Mysterons wanted the reactor, why didn’t they just kill the driver and hijacked the truck? That way, it would save them a lot of reconstructing and there would be no evidence at the bridge. Apart from that, another excellent reaction Alexa. 😊
Some fans at the time compared the Mysteron complex on Mars as similar to the Shore Leave planet in Star Trek.
The Mysterons are running through a set of entertaining plots, for the testing or edification of humans.
I'm not sure, but it seemed to make some sense at the time?
This was always one of my favourites. Love the 'dark and stormy night' vibes and mystery plot it shares with early episodes like Big Ben Strikes Again and Manhunt.
I think the nature of the show makes you wonder what the Mysterons are really like. When I watched it as a little boy my dad was sure they were supposed to be invisible robots, which I think he was getting from one of the comics from the same time as the original broadcast. It's funny that most fans seem to agree that the Mysterons are an artificial intelligence, but other than clues such as the Unitron and SID being artificial intelligence, I think that's just speculation turned fan-canon.
One of my favourite episodes ,remember I told you the part where they are loading the reactor onto the lorry was a bit like thunderbirds 😊,you may see 2068 my dear but I’ll be 101 mmm if I’m still here I’ll buy you a coffee 🙏

Now that's something I've never pictured before: the Mysterons as buddies. Good to play hide-and-seek with, I'd imagine. Cemetery Guy would always tell you exactly where he was and what time you'd find him there. You'd have to be careful about playing practical jokes on them, though. Easily offended, these incorporeal types, and they hold a grudge too.
Mysteron fashion - being indestructible - would probably involve purchasing an item on molecular subscription, updated every season whilst you're wearing it. Having no practical use for money, it'd be a purely symbolic exchange, with all proceeds going towards a crazy golf facility on Mars. I believe the Mysterons would greatly appreciate both the concept and the reality of crazy golf. Everyone's a winner, then.👍

The Shore Leave aliens, yes. Actually there was a classic horror film and its sequels wherein the unseen devilish powers at work reminded me of the Mysterons.
The Final Destination movies?

'CAPT Black' as always has it way too easy. But a great show and episode. As to 'Siri' being taken over/a duplicate being made as per the '3 rings', instead of hearing 'Siri' normally you might instead hear 'This is the voice of the Mysterions', but would it be in the low pitch male voice or the 'Siri' female voice? Mind you, for navigation purposes I wouldn't trust a 'Mysterion Siri'.
I usually have my navigation set to male Australian personally!
