I think I like the 1, 2 punch of you doing a deep dive into the region followed by a tier ranking of the region. It seems neat & clean. Love your energy & here for it
Well thank you so much for the kind words! 😊 I try to keep positive energy, and I'm glad you noticed lol 😊
Would make a great mini-series I think!
Hahaha, I never thought about how you have to walk through someone's home to leave Cerulean City 😂
This fact annoyed young me to no end that it makes me argue with friends 😂. Later, I just accept it's just a game and doesn't really have to be realistic
There was also a CUT tree that you can go through. But yeah.... Cerulean City is like Hotel California... you can never ever leave.
Pallet Town is the best town in all of the Pokémon universe. Exclusive neighborhood, and waterfront property. There’s also a scientific laboratory and a secret patch of grass you have to swim to. S Tier.
In today's video, Saffron City Gym Leader Sabrina deflects Rocket Allegations while simultaneously casting aspersions upon either every other Gym Leader, their City, or both.
Haha I love it. 😊
Pewter deserves to not go any lower on the chart solely for the Jigglypuff in the Pokémon center that sings it’s iconic song whenever you speak to it ❤
Oooohhhh! That is such a good point! Dang, Pewter definitely deserved better from me. 😅
If I remember correctly, the construction site in Vermillion City was supposed to be for a radio tower. When the tower in Lavender Town was converted into one, the construction site was left as an empty lot.
That's interesting! I had no idea. Ya learn something new every day. 😊
Okay, my ideal GSC/HGSS Hack now puts the Kanto Radio Tower In Vermillion so it can Retcon Pokemon Tower back into existence.
My only issue with cinnabar is that there is 0 residencies. The only buildings are the mansion (vacant & destroyed), the gym, the lab, a pokemon center, and a pokemart. Where does anyone on the island town live lol.
Something i really like about saffron is that the dojo USED to be the official saffron gym, before sabrina showed up - destroyed them, and the league decided to make her the gym leader of saffron instead. Not only does it teach new players about type advantage, but it also makes sabrina feel even more intimidating - all while giving the city a bit of recent history in the process.
I can't wait for you to do the other towns and regions 😊
Your review video was amazing
Aww why thank you 😊 I appreciate all the kindness!
This channel is criminally undersubscribed
I still think it was a good idea to focus on the geography of the pokemon world. Haven't really seen any other pokemon youtuber do this
Absolutely! I'll be working on Johto between smaller projects 😊 I'm very excited about it, too.
Im new to the channel and i loved the kanto review!
Technically with Cerulean City, You dont have to go through someones home, You could use Cut on the bottom of the town or use another method to get rid of that tree.
That's a pretty good point. I always forget about that cut tree 🤔
Yeah, I was pretty confused by the insistence that the only way out of Cerulean was through someone's house, bc I was like....it's been a hot minute since I played a Kanto game, but I don't remember anything like that. And I'm pretty sure I would've remembered being more annoyed by Cerulean if that was the case. XD Personally, Cerulean City is my ✨aesthetic✨ entirely, and if I had the choice of living in Kanto, it'd definitely be there (*especially* in Let's Go, chef's kiss), so I would've ranked it at least an A, if not outright putting it in S. (Tho I do agree that Lavender Town is the GOAT of town design in Kanto, and aesthetically it would be my 2nd fav, but I'm an utter wimp when it comes to spooky things, so realistically I could probably never actually muster up the nerve to live there XP)
In a way, it's even worse, though. You can only use cut with the Cascade Badge, so basically, Misty controls who can leave the town.
I am shook that Saffron was not an instant S tier! Seriously though, as someone who never grew up playing any of the Kanto based games my connections to the region isn't that deep but even I can respect how iconic most of the towns are, even if the infrastructure makes no sense. Like how is Cinnabar even considered a town, it's five buildings and one of them is abandoned, where do the people live!?
Love the tier list idea, I am looking forward to future regions where I am guessing that the tiers will not be as forgiving to them!
Haha, I don't blame you for voting Saffron City as S Tier. 😊 it's definitely iconic. I'm glad you're enjoying my new content 😎
It's funny how much my opinions changed as I grew up. As a child, I haaaaated Lavender Town and would even turn down my GB's volume all the way so I wouldn't have to hear the music. It creeped me out! Of course now, it's one of my favorites.
Also it looks like the algorithm is starting to grab your videos a bit which is super cool. I was recommended the Kanto review last night and had your channel pulled up before I went to bed because I wanted to check out more from you later.... since then I'm pretty sure you've shot up like 200 subscribers. :D
I totally agree, I used to hate Rock Tunnel as a kid, and now it doesn't bother me as much, though it is still a bit of a slog. 😅 Anyway, Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm not gonna lie, I was really surprised to see this video do so well - and my subscriber count as well! Hopefully it's all upward momentum from here! 😊
Your videos are a really interesting midpoint between let's play and retrospective content, and you've got a super relaxed, having fun with it vibe.
Really entertaining and original, and I'm glad to see you've blown past that 1k subscriber mark!
Well thank you so much for the kindness! I really appreciate that! I'm super excited that I made it to 1k subs, and I never thought it would happen this quickly! Guess the hard work is paying off! 😊
Best ranking I’ve seen yet. Great stuff
Why thank you! 😊
Saffron City had more going for it in Gen 2 & 4. Could get a leg up by making Silph Co. more than just a guantlet of team Rocket. Like if it had drawings and stuff like the Goldenrod Radio Tower.
Youre Right!
I Like Celadon Because Of Its Music And Its Large!
I enjoyed this video, Sabrina. Usually, I don't watch tier list videos. But I decided to watch this, and I'm glad I did 😊
Well good! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a nice light-hearted video to follow a large project. It was a nice breather. 😊
Fuchsia always seemed so cramped to me. Between the fences/tree lines, the ledge keeping the Poke Center and gym from the rest of the city, and the raised cliff above those buildings… I never liked it haha the safari zone is sick though
I think that's one of the few things I also don't like about Fuchsia; the gym and Pokemon Center are in such a wonky place. But I, too, love the Safari Zone. 😊
Wow I never expressed it to anyone else, but I've always felt this way too. The design of the town is quite strange.
I watched your review and now I watched this video. I like your content. You got a new subscriber !
Oh good! I'm super glad to have you! 😊 Welcome to the club 🤪
Overall some solid choices, though I do disagree on Saffron City. It's the first time, as a player, that you realize that something is seriously wrong, Team Rocket is walking around unabashed, they are keeping several homes ?held hostage? and when you enter Silph it is a serious situation, rogue Scientists and researchers seemed to work with Team Rocket and have taken the entirety of the company hostage, unquestionably. It's a somewhat dark situation for Pokemon and fighting the way through Team Rocket's hold stands out as the defining moment of Gen 1 for me.
You had me at “Bullhonky”. You just gained a subscriber 🤣🤣🤣
Haha it's one of my favorite words 🤣 glad to have ya!
A while back on a forum I post on a lot someone asked "Where would you live if you were in the Pokemon world?" For Kanto I said either Pewter City of Fuchsia City. Pewter because I'm a history buff and the museum is right there and enjoying nature I'd want to be close to Viridian Forest. Fuchsia because again as a nature lover I'd want to bee close to the Zoo and Safari Zone.
I think both of those places would be great for you! Being so close to the museum, the forest, or a giant environmental preserve would be a great option for you. Fuchsia or Celadon would be one of my choices.
Great video. Loved seeing your opinions on all the different towns. Maybe you could do a video about what things you think would improve the towns that you think need more work done to them to make them better?? That would be pretty awesome!! I feel sorry for Pewter City, being forgotten so much, but it was pretty funny, when you put Cinnabar Island down for Pewter, I was so confused, because I remembered Pewter for the lovley floor it has.
Pewter definitely didn't deserve the disrespect 🤣 well I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and I think "fixing" the towns and cities to make them better would be a great video idea!
Solid assessment of city rankings. I enjoy watching your videos. For me, personally, it would be Vermillion City Ranked at S Tier. In the Pokémon games, you're introduced to a new seaside city and that catchy tune and meeting Mr. Pokémon and his story about Rapidash 😂 . However, if we are talking about the anime and continiuouty, in the anime, this is the biggest choice Ash has to choose. He is given a thunder stone to evolve Pikachu. He actually wants to evolve Pikachu but Pikachu tail slaps the stone away refusing to evolve. Having that in mind while playing the game, makes me want to fight Lt. Surge with Pikachu everytime to replicate the show. Not successful though in numerous attempts😅😅😅 It's just the thought that counts. But hey! Sabrina! Love your content as always - keep these videos coming I will support you! Have you considered Patreon or anything? Will gladly contribute. You deserve some recognition for these vids.
Thanks for the kind words about the video! I'm glad you liked it. 😊 I can definitely see Vermilion being a favorite for some folks. And it's definitely memorable in the anime, too! Anyway, I'm thinking about creating a membership program through CZcams, so those who are really dedicated can get some behind the scenes content, and have a way to support me in that way if they want to. 😊
@@saffroncitytv Awesome to hear. You deserve all the credit for the videos you make. I wish you best of luck and looking forward to your next video as always! Keep it going!
Haha! I always did the same thing fighting Lt. Surge. But darn its a tough battle using Pikachu
Celadon city is great. I just wish that there was a port in Celadon. It's so close to the water.
Sabrina, i love how you ranked the towns and cities of Kanto. You're an amazing content creator and i cant wait to see more. Please keep the cities and towns of kanto in their respective ranks when or if you do Johto
Well thank you! 😊 I think I'm gonna do a video like this after every Region Review. 😊
I hope you do a review and tier list for every video :)
I think I will! Amongst other videos to further elaborate on my subjective feelings about the regions. I think I'll be expanding more when I cover Johto. 😊
In a way it would make sense if Team Rocket blew through that home to save everyone held captive there
🤣🤣🤣 Like, we're all trapped in Cerulean and Team Rocket is like, "This ain't right." Lol I like that.
I would have rated Viridian city lower, the only thing notable about it is a locked gym and a drunk that wont let you pass until he shows how to catch pokemon. I forget its even a town. I feel Pallet is a bit over rated as well. Once you get your Pokedex you never really have a need to go back. Agree that Celedon is the best city, there is so much to do there and reasons to return.
I agree, Pallet... and all of the starting towns really are pretty forgettable. After delivering Oak's parcel, about the only reason to return before the game dumps you back there after beating the Champion is to Reach Cinnabar without going through the Seafoam Islands.
oh honey. Giovanni lives in Viridian bc he has a chokehold on the Pokemon League. Forget the smuggling opportunities, he has lackeys for that. Silph was absolutely cooperating until you walked in on that businessman meeting… how’d Porygon get invented if not for Giovanni’s hush money? He’s got this region all figured out, and if he weren’t so polite he’d have murdered our 10yo crimebusting self long ago
The tree in front of the gym in Vermilion City makes sure that you have defeated Misty first. You cannot use the HM Cut outside of battles without the Cascade Badge. I don't know who said this, but the construction site can't continue because of the Diglett's Cave (Kanto's environmental theme). And obviously you didn't choose Charmander. Anyone who took Charmander could never forget Pewter City :-)
Saffron city for scale and silph co + 2gyms.
Lavender Town for ghost tower.
Nothing else is noteworthy or memorable...
We just remember it all because its the OG..not down to it's quality the towns are generally garbage but understandably so given the limitations.
I Enjoy your content so subscribed, goodluck with your goal.
You're so fun to listen to 😊
Well thank ya kindly! 😊
I guessed wrong, I thought you'll instantly rate Saffron obvious S! But listening to your reasoning, it makes sense. For me, the S Tier are Celadon and Fuchsia
Haha well, I try to give my honest opinions. I still love Saffron City, it's still a cool place, it's just that everything Saffron does, Celadon does better 🤣. Still love the city though, it'll always be special to me. 😊
lavender town love
It's the GOAT for sure 😊
I'm very forgiving of Kanto in general for being designed in the GB and then when remade, people not wanting it to change much but for me there's like, this capital sin about cinnabar I cannot justify no matter how hard I try, that is like... Man, for a volcano, it certainly does have a huge lack of... A volcano.
My dudes. I get that yeah, hardware limitations on the GB went pretty hard, but... Just make the city a donout and put some black tiles in the middle or something. Or some stones in the corner, anything, really, to make me imagine there's a volcano there. In the Johto-based games at least that's fixed, but in the Kanto-based ones? I really don't think I'd need burn heal all that much, Blaine.
Yeah, they could've lied to me about it being an island with a volcano on it, and I would've believed it. Honestly, Cinnabar deserves a little more love.
Honestly, I kind of question how much Kanto's simplicity can really be excused with technical limitations. Granted, Red and Blue are among the largest Gameboy games, there's only so much you can do with, depending on the system the games are being played on, 4 shades of puke green(GB), 4 shades of gray(GBP), 4 shades of the games colors(GBC), or swapping 4 color palettes(SGB, and as an aside, its a shame GBC couldn't do Super Game Boy Palettes, as RB definitely look their best on SGB) and clearly a significant amount of data goes towards the mons themselves, but I feel like other GB games with the top-down viewpoint made better use of the limited visual fidelity(Compare RB to Link's Awakening, Yellow to Link's Awakening DX, or GSC to Oracle of Seasons/Ages to compare Pokemon to other system sellers). 151 is a heck of a lot of monsters to sprite compared to most 8- and 16-bit RPGs, especially with needing to do back sprites for all of them since they aren't justthe random encounters, but your potential party, but it makes one wonder if, instead of just being due to limits in what the hardware can display, variety in the overworld was sacrificed for a larger roster.
Dr Fuji had a dark past tho . It’s cool he’s working it off, but like never 4get man made Mewtwo as a weapon for Giovanni and just let the mansion go to ruin
I'm not understanding the hate for Pewter. Sure it doesn't belong in S tier. Maybe not even A tier. But it's got a really unique atmosphere that distinguishes it from the low lying cities.
E tier: can we just leave. lavender town
🤣🤣🤣
I completely disagree, vermilion city has a beautiful coast, a port. Saffron is Iconic because you get the master ball there, in Gold you get a hitmolee or hitmochan and the high buildings. On the otherhand , Laveder town is iconic but I would put it in A.
I wonder which City you will put at the top of S Tier!! 😅
Saffron below celedon is an L for sure.
Lol fair enough.
Lol 2 weeks later and already double the goal
I know right? 🥳 Very exciting stuff!
You're really beautiful. No matter how popular you get, never change.
Thank you for the kind words! 😊 I appreciate that!
@@saffroncitytv you're most welcome. You seem a lovely person and I wish you luck with the channel. I can see you passing 1k by the end of this year easily.
Well thank you for the support and encouragement. I really hope I meet my goals, but I'm glad that people seem to be enjoying the new content. 😊
