- Y-strainers are so named due to their distinctive 'Y' shape. A Y-strainer allows for easy cleaning and maintenance due to its design. The 'Y' shape facilitates a low pressure drop, thus maintaining efficient flow rates in the system. Y-strainers can be customised with various types and sizes of mesh or perforated screens, in order to cater for specific industrial requirements. A cross section and even if just 2D would have been great. Also woulnt it be better to have a gusset plate in the top middle? I can imagine by higher flow rate that a gusset would assist the flowpressure.
