Lingard is a cockroach. Said it for years. A coward who was an average player at best. Punched above his weight and only survived at Utd because of manager changes. This latest move is a perfect example of the player and his career
So true. And several others benefitted from the same incompetence. Glazers et al have a lot to answer for.
Doubt it was the managers. A lot of executives saw it fit to renew Phil Jones, Martial and Lingard’s contracts.
@finfog4590 Phil Jones made 2 appearances in 5 years on his last contract. That was after being injured almost constantly for 2 years and they still gave him the new 5 year deal for £16M.
Can we stop fantasising about Lingards time at West Ham, he had a few good games, Hollywood showpieces but also did nothing in some matches. If he still had it, he would have shone at Forest, he didn't and says it all.
Stayed at United instead of moving to West Ham because he wasn't prepared to take a wage cut. This is why Manchester United will have an impossible task of moving on this Summer. All these players on ridiculous contracts with years left to roll will just look to 'go out on loan' and keep stealing wages from the Club or just look to loiter around the club and sit on the bench and not play football. There's this greedy money over football culture at United started by players like Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones were they do everything to keep their contracts at United and not play when they could go and play regular football elsewhere but have to take a wage cut. United need to start getting tough this summer, get a manager that makes them want to leave by making their lives hell and if they won't leave just terminate their employment with zero severance.
Should have done more with his career but probably earns more in a month than I do in 2 years.
