I will make one observation. My wife is Ukrainian from Kherson, and despite my attempts to have her try the peelers, she insists on using a knife. I find the peelers much easier myself. 😊
I don't blame your mother, that garden is a lot of work, and very productive. She deserves recognition.
@john_in_phoenix My wife is for Kherson as well. In fact we were all trapped in Kherson at the start of the war. We hid out for over 70 days .... and then we were able to "sneak" out to Odessa and from there to Bucharest .... now we are in the United States .... it was quite the "escape" went through 7 Russian checkpoints ....
My Mom always used a knife, just like her Mom, and I do as well. I do not like peelers.
@@shamrock4500 Same here or if many lbs or kgs the peeler attachment for the Kenwood food mixer, they still need the eyes or blemishes removing with a knife though.

There's an old saying in the southern United States: "If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." You honored your mother well. 🙂 My parents and grandparents grew large gardens and preserved food, too; I can still remember being sent to fetch canned goods from my grandparents' root cellar. If mama ain't happy that's for her to deal with. Nobody is responsible for making any other person happy. I'll be damned if I go through life afraid to hurt someone's feelings - not my wife, not my friend, not my other family and damn sure not anyone else. We are responsible for our own happiness, but that's not the message that saying conveys at all.
We have just given Ukrain people staying here a long term residence visas, we are really happy to help.

On the last video I noticed her coming out of the house with a brown top or apron walked over to table and done something and then walked around the side. I was curious what she was doing. I’m an American city boy and never really thought much about where my food came from. Sure I knew there were farmers and cattlemen, but that’s the extent of it. For me it all started with “Clarksons Farm” ( Jeremy Clarkson Top Gear ) Now that I have retired and can watch videos of how it’s actually done I have a new appreciation for the people who feed the world. Much respect to your mom and dad and all farmers from big and small family farms.

When I was growing up in Devon UK, we had a large vegetable garden, but nothing on your mum's scale. We couldn't grow carrots as the soil was red clay, and in a dry spell it set like a brick. Potatoes, broard beans, peas, French beans, runner beans and what we called Opi's (grandad's) beans. Which were similar to Runner beans, but were yellow with white beans inside. There is nothing like the taste of home grown vegetables, 😋

Your mom is one of the best. She really cares about her garden and it really shows by how well it's growing. Lots of food there and that saves alot money instead of buying that food in the supermarket. I also like the key words that pop up and show the translation from Ukraine to English. Your parents are pretty self sufficient. The gardens and fruit varieties are always interesting to see. In Canada people who have a bit a property and attempt to be self sufficent are called Homesteaders.

Farming stopped in our country two generations ago. People here are busy in study and work. Now all the people have left their country and home and migrated abroad. Your hard work and farming have attracted everyone.

You Mom has the biggest garden I have ever seen! Until now, my Grandpa had the biggest garden in my life. He raised over 40 different crops out of his garden, and shared with all the neighbors, and sold raspberries and strawberries. He was an avid fisherman as well and shared fish with the neighbors. I don't know how they eat now that he has passed away! I think your Mom must be the same way, feeding everyone. So glad she convinced you to film. She is an impressive woman. You are blessed to have her for a mother.

Glad to see you again. A garden as large as your mom grows is a lot of work. I can remember how much time my grandmother put in working in her garden. All that hard work means they will have food all winter. I raised cucumbers 2 summers and sold them to a pickle making company. We had to pick those things every day. The small ones brought the most money but took a lot of them. I think I had about 2 acres or .8 hectare...

Your mom is awesome! I wish my mom was so good with growing vegetables and cooking. My mom is great for other things, but not gardening or cooking. I've had to learn that mostly on my own. My grandma taught me how to weed when I was little but she only grew flowers when I was growing up. Nobody in my family cooks like I do. My great grandmother was known for cooking skills that only involved opening a can of ham. LOL.
