It never fails to amaze me, just how many people are out there sending it, while having no idea the proper technique for the feature they are riding.
Was thinking the same. I'm far from a good mountain biker but know enough based on some over the bars episodes myself that i wouldn't attempt half of this stuff if i didn't have proper technique down first.
because they fall for "Just send it"😂
Be thankful to them, I am.
It's always fun to look at others' fails and then pounce on them when they're down. And, of course, those who criticize have NEVER made mistakes that others could bash. Never. Not once. Ever. Every single person who falls should have done everything perfectly, because to not do so is insulting to the interwebz perfectionists.
@@guest6423 what?? I don't think anyone was criticizing as much as saying we don't get it. I also mentioned i've gone over the bars several times because of bonehead mistakes on trails in my response but i'm certainly not going to go sailing off a 15ft jump with cameras on if i haven't adequately prepared....which, you can tell from both bike and body positioning of many of these folks, they haven't considered the same.
The guy that fell down the crevasse really scared me. It seems he's alright though
There is another video out there of him clearing it on a second attempt. So yeah, he's probably fine. 😊

@@alhypoAs unlikely as it is that I would try that gap once, it is orders of magnitude LESS likely that I would fail once and try it again!

But he was not trying to clear the gap in that video. That was supposed to be a run-up. His run-up was just a bit too aggressive so he didn't stop in time. 😰

A lot of reruns this week, but they're spectacular wrecks, so I don't mind.
1:42 made me laugh, watching the guy try and pop his wheel up after he is already over the lip of the ramp.
That crash was so violent, definitely not expected on a jump of that size 😂

Thats why I usually dont recommend learning this as your primary technique for drops. Timing it wrong carries far bigger penalty than your basic 'delayed center of gravity' drop. Whatever you call it. Or even just rolling off it with enough speed.

#3 nice bike check. #4 would have travelled less distance had he cleared the gap than max braked into the take off. More speed is almost always better than not enough speed!!

pie day fails, no.4 is a bit of a worst case scenario actually happened
For Friday fails I turn up the vid quality as high as it will go, turn down the playback speed to .25, and let it roll. Then, I watch the whole thing again at regular speed.
Tried it. Got bored. Set it to 2x. In tears rn 😅 Check it out. #2 the bike totally does a super Mario coin pick up. Just gotta add the sound. 😂

Amen dude. I do the odd jump now and then just to feel alive, but much prefer the horizontal to the vertical plane.

@@komoonkh I stopped racing over twenty years ago. Back then there were a few little downhills and maybe a hop or two where I did my one race. Unless you were on private trails none of my trails like along the river had any jumps
I try to keep both tires on the ground as much as possible, though I am getting braver and wiling to do small drops of a foot or less.
FATALITIES LEFT AND RIGHT!!!! OUCH!!! Somebody needs to teach these folks how to do drops.
#18 either has no idea how pull up on drops or has the worst timing
I’m pretty sure that running into trees is not due to them being hard to see. It’s part of the territory of mtn biking. But I guess, to some, blue paint on trees has some appeal.

What I've read, that was just a test run to get a feel for the run up to the jump, but he braked too late and went over the edge. Luckily, he wasn't injured. He did it again immediately after and cleared it like a pro.
