One week before my birthday this year, I was talking to someone at work about the time I took a shit ton of mushrooms in Amsterdam during New Year's and had a life-changing experience that has since made me a better person and far more focused in life. No less than 24 hours later, I was in a cab en route to perform stand up comedy with a head full of acid and a stomach full of puppies shitting themselves in horror.
I wasn't coerced, talked into, or persuaded to do something as nerve-racking as telling jokes to a room of strangers-paying customers, no less-for the first time ever while simultaneously tripping on powerful psychedelic drugs. I didn't really think through how terrible it could go at the time. I was stupid, not brave. I took out most of my anger on Jamie Lee Curtis Taete, about whom I remember saying things like "you're such a twat" and "I fucking hate you, prick."
It would be great if I could say that doing stand-up on acid was profound and moving. But I would be lying. I just thought it would be funny. Maybe it was. But it's also a dumb, fucking terrifying thing to do. So, please do enjoy this video, but please don't ever try anything like this yourself. It nearly cost me my sanity.

I have my doubts Snoop Dog as he was filled with fear from the outset and shouldn't have even ventured out of the house.. When I did that I'd had 40 trips already and good control of my drug use. When I saw I'd mastered acid I gave it up, it had done it's work and I didn't need it anymore. I was never like that guy. Absolutely! Three years later, and that was my immediate thought… He should've been encouraging him to truly get into his element and vibe with the acid. Then he had the potential to actually shine, and not feel like he was walking into the cabbie of death. It's such a fucking shame. Bruh my first time was alone. I was on 2 tabs and long story short i spend an eternity trapped inside my personal hell thought loop, where i kept convincing myself that my whole life was just a dream and the thought loop was my actual existence. Forever trapped in loneliness and confusion. It felt like waking up from a dream only that the dream was my life up until that point. And as i slowly „realized“ what that meant, my life’s memories started to drift away just like a dream would slowly faint. Trying to remember harder(fighting it) only made me forget even faster. So at some point i just sat in my room, which looked completely foreign to me, and i came to terms that this was my life now and it always has been. It‘s all a blur from that point on, but i remember vividly what eternity and eternal anxiety felt like and it still sometimes just washes over me to this day. I‘m pretty sure that trip severely traumatized me.
Never ever will i trip alone again is what im trying to say. There are deep, dark, endless depths to the mind that will never unveil themselves to the sober. I would rather actually die than life through that kind of ego death again. I honestly was close to killing myself during that trip. Only reason i didn’t is because i was convinced i‘d just end up in the same spot again. Thats it! Not some fear of death or some part of consciousness left trying to keep me from harm. The only reason im still here, alive, is because the trip had me so severely convinced i was already dead, that i just didnt bother trying.

I was in an ice cream joint once, and a guy who was tripping balls came in and sat next to me. He was unable to utter a single word, but was giggling, and smiling. The guy behind the counter gave him a paper cup full of whipped cream, which made him ecstatic. When he finished the whipped cream, he got up, grinned purposefully at everyone, and walked out. I was glad we all made his trip so pleasant.

Once I was out in public and took two 130ug tabs with me best mate, took em 30mins after my mate cause idk whether I'd be car sick while they kicked in so we stopped and I took mine. Then 40 mins I felt waves and was like 'is this it? These tabs are shit' oh boy was I wrong. With my mates missus driving us back to my suburb they kicked off in the car. The trip was subtle like anxiety. Then when I jumped out of the car at a waterfront I had heaps of energy. Walked around a bit.....then the anxiety hit me so fuckin hard. I had the worst experience out in public. Then I made the decision to return home while on a major peak. Apparently I was sweating so much and my pupils were dinner plates just full black. Went home, had a shower (which was so trippy) jumped on PS3 played battlefield 3 and was able to calm down by the time I got into a match and for the next 9hrs I was so relaxed in my environment. So in conclusion, take drugs where you're comfortable

So far, my favorite in the series of
"... On Acid" series. Much like Jamie, I enjoy watching people on acid and how they react. I love how this shows how the drug really effects people and is not the propaganda we are used to seeing in media.
I have a pretty extensive history with hallucinogens and I feel like I've gotten the message and I can hang up the phone now. But it's great fun to see people enjoy their experience and get something out of it that betters them as a person, as good hallucinogens should do. Or at least have them enjoy the experience and understand what it's like while someone is around to trip-sit then and make sure they stay safe and calm.
Excellent series, great episode, well done Josh!! 😊
My weirdest environment to take acid was while waiting tables at an IHOP on third shift. I made great tips, kept everyone laughing and had a blast that shift. But I had about 10 years of experience as a waitress at that time, so it wasnt as big of challenge as it sounds.

Same thing with other individuals they may master social settings but have insecurities about other aspects in there life. My point is i think its all about the way we own it. So what we fucked up and couldn't get anything out, i think if we display the confidence about being comfortable about the reality of social anxiety actually demonstrates courage and believe it or not people will not see it as weakness but as respect because of the way you handled it.

Don't ever drop it if you have things you need to tend to while you're on it. He's paranoid because he knows he needs to do a skit, he knows the cameras are watching him, and he knows the host is analyzing him. To have a bad-trip free experience, you need to make sure your schedule is clear, that way you don't feel the need to suppress what you're feeling, and/or seeing to do whatever you need to do. If you have nowhere to be, no one to see, and nothing to do, for a day or two, then you'll be okay. And don't drop it with people who are constantly asking you questions about what you're seeing or feeling: you'll feel like they're watching everything you do or say, and that'll make you paranoid about saying the wrong thing.
