    Dr. Jamie Kaufman, the otolaryngologist who coined the term LPR, now says the more proper term is RR, respiratory reflux. She says the reason you eat low acid foods during a flare is because pepsin (present in the gastric juices when reflux occurs) resides in tissues of the throat and upper airway for several days. It is stimulated by anything you swallow that has a pH greater than 5. (actually 6 but there'd be little to eat). She also suggests drinking alkaline water which denatures pepsin. She has many good videos on youtube as well.

      Betaine hcl with pepsin can be helpful for a lot of people, but I would be cautious introducing it! If you have inflammation in your throat or stomach, I would address that first, because adding more acid could aggravate it. I’d also introduce it slowly and monitor your response closely. :) I’ll be doing a video about this soon, because I’ve been getting a lot of questions about it!

    Is too little stomach acid scientifically sound?

    • @margaretntp
      @margaretntp  Před rokem +2

      Most people who have reflux and go on acid-reducing medications have never had their stomach acid levels tested. If you consider the complex workings of the digestive system and how hormones, enzymes, hydration, acid, and other things all work together to create the right environment for digesting foods, it makes sense that any interruption or dysfunction could lead to low acid or insufficient enzymes or hormones. If you’re asking about studies, there’s not a lot of research done on natural remedies or topics that aren’t related to money-making, so it might be hard to find studies about this.

    For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
    16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
    20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:14-21
