I waited 2 1/2 months for an appt to a GI dr who told me that I had silent reflux and take pepcid. (Lump in throat, trouble swallowing etc) After taking pepcid is the only time I've actually had "real reflux" - and a lot of it. I told the dr and he said to switch to another antacid, which I wasn't willing to do. I took a probiotic a few weeks and it really helped. I also took vitamin D and Magnesium as well - so the combo helped me. Unfortunately I feel like youtube videos help me more than the dr does!

@@Naturally_Dangerous I just got the regular version - box said "align probiotic 24/7 digestive support" (didn't say extra strength etc) After 3 or 4 days of taking it the weird "lump feeling" in my throat, went to a bloated feeling in my stomach - then after 2 weeks or so of being on align my stomach started feeling normal again. Having the "lump feeling" in my throat was definitely unusual and concerning for me, so when the bloated feeling moved down to my stomach area, I felt relieved - ie not thyroid problems.

I have Gerd and struggled with gas problems with it for eternity; I discovered 16Hr fasting plus using a Cider Vinegar drink with Lime juice ginger Cinnimon and Himilayan salt. I have been using this drink before meals but at least 3 times a day. I have been doing this for a couple of weeks and have stopped my Nexium which I have been using for at least 18years. The success from doing this routine is amazing and I have next to no gas and reflux is non existent. Yes I agree with you reflux is caused by lack of stomach acid.

Finally realized the connection between SIBO and LPR because none of the suggestions for reflux worked, whereas anti-microbials did. Also symptoms would get way worse after eating something sugary like a cookie. It seemed like my digestion would just shut down and then LPR would follow. However, when I take oregano oil and olive leaf, things get back into balance. I also like horopito for an anti-fungal. Of course avoiding sugar would be ideal but you know... On a related note I also realized my body doesn't like any form of citric acid - it seems to amplify any internal irritation.

Thanks for the amazing story. About 2 weeks before I turned 21(late August of 2023) a believe to have had symptoms of LPR. But before that I had possibly had the system the day after thanksgiving 2022. The symptoms started as a lump in the left side of my throat and as a college student that was around the time of finals so wasn’t getting much sleep so the symptoms lasted a 2-3 weeks. For the next 5 months the symptoms reoccurred like every month just for a day or two. Back in April(2023) got real sick and throat symptoms lasted for about 3 weeks. After that the symptoms reoccurred every month for about a day or two. But in August the first week of the new semester decided to get checked and test positive for strep(didn’t feel like I had strep) the day after that i developed pain on the right side of my throat on top of the already irritated left side. It originally felt like I had scraped it real bad(like I had cut my throat) but it was probably from being inflamed. A couple of days later could barely swallow anything or talk. Over the next 4 months, had about 7 doctors visits, met with a ENT 4x, met a gastroenterologist, had a ultrasound, CT, swallow test, had a endoscopy, a EGD, was prescribed 3 antibiotics, fungal medication, pain medication, and 2 types of acid reflux medicine. All the test came back good and the only thing they found was an inflamed gut and was possibly LPR(what the ENT said the first visit but said it was reflux(which I’ve never had heart burn) but didn’t specify it was the LPR version. Looking back at it my symptoms were those of LPR and when things went haywire was when I took the antibiotics(which did not help with the pain) and during the time of taking antibiotics did realize excessive burping. I’m about to start taking probiotics and see what they can do. The pain did get better after about 4 weeks of taking PPIs in terms of my throat not feeling like it’s the size of a straw, but there is still pain on the sides of my throat that was originally irritated.

@@inmedical2708 still hurts a little. Since the start of 2024 I’ve tried to eat regularly and drink like 2 bottles of water while eating. I don’t believe I have LPR I think I have a muscle or nerve issue. I can eat and for like 1 week it’ll hurt on 1 side and the be next week I can eat and it hurt in a different location but not on the side where it hurtled a week ago. The pain bounces from side to side but never hurts at multiple spots at once and sometimes the pain if I chew my food and take a sip of water. I think what caused the pain to appear on the other side, when it felt like it scrapped my throat was due to what I was eating and my throat tensing up(like when you feel like get a pill stuck in your throat and it tenses up for a few minutes). Also I try to drink plenty of liquids during the day, even if it is soda. Originally I thought soda was a main irritant but now it barely irritates my throat here and there depending on how I drink it.

@@user-Godfirst thanks for your feedback. Roughly a year latter and I have noticed that the pain is not likely due to lpr. I think it due to nerves or muscle issue. I can eat and it’ll start irritating 1 side of my throat and if I change the way I eat it’ll irritate the other side but the the side previously. Additionally I can drink sodas but if I drink a soda slightly different it might irritate my throat for a quick second then go back to normal. And sometimes their may be weeks where one side of my throat my hurt but not the other and then all of a sudden switch like if their was never any pain their. It’s kind of hard to explain, I think the best way to explain it is like swallowing a pill and it getting stuck, and then trying to eat stuff to get it to go down but it not going down because it is kind a tight, but relaxing and then it going down. To conclude I can pretty much eat and drink anything now with no burning sensation(when eating/drinking or during the day) but the the little dull pain when eating can bounce from spot to spot, leaving the previous spot like if their was never no pain their. I’ve had LPR for about 60 days.
Experimented on myself and think I just found solution.
Thought it was Gerd/acid reflux it’s not.
I tried eliminating carbs, I tried keto, apple cider vinegar, fruit and meat only, Whole Foods diet and still had the lump throat, hard to swallow.
Here’s the 4 things that were the biggest breakthroughs.
#1 1/4 cup of alkaline water with 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. Gargle it in the back of your throat. INSTANT RELIEF.
You have excess pepsin in your throat. That is where the pain comes from. Likely from excess stress, eating late, big meals, not chewing, bad posture eating.
2nd. Diet change, only eating foods with an ph level above 5. Generally more alakaline as apposed to acidic.
1 day of this and I was much much better. About 6 days in doing best I have so far.
This includes things, like cantaloupe, watermelon, bananas, black beans, potatoes, sweet potatoes, brown rice, asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts, butter, almond milk, turkey, chicken, beef. I have a list I can direct you too. Also you eat small, chew thoroughly and only one meat source a day. 0 preservatives. That is stage 1.
Stage 2 adds foods and 2 meat sources daily. Eventually you get better.
    Wildcards 2 more things.
Been drinking oregano tea. Found someone with LPR who did it for 2 weeks and healed. Taking it in addition to these.
4th. A nature Chinese medicine throat massage of sorts. 2 minutes long has given some relief.
    Doing all 4, HEALING!
Never taken medicine, I’ve heard some people eventually get normal back. But be encouraged, health system is a lie.

When I ate regular I’d get lots of burps now not really.
I eat watermelon, canteloupe, and bananas consistently. Pears are also supposed to be ok.
If you have any throat swallowing issues - the alakaline diet does help a ton, gargling alkaline water and baking soda also instant throat relief.
And other thing I’m doing 2x daily is on a CZcams channel called natural method CZcams. Chinese guy sharing a few simple throat massages.
What I’ve been eating for about 70ish days to get here very simple.
Tuna, steak, chicken, Turkey, Turkey burgers plain - no preservatives all good.
Asparagus, spinach, brussel sprouts, celery, carrots, romaine lettuce all good.
      Almonds, pistachios, walnuts good.
Almond milk, maple Syrup, 100% whole grain bread, eggs, avocado, 100% natural peanut butter all good, brown rice, white rice, olive oil, potatoes, seeet potatoes
I went extreme and only ate those things. Eggs sometimes don’t agree, think I’m figuring that out. Walnuts also sometimes - both on the stomach.

I would like to suggest a quick try of an alternative approach. Just drink a couple glasses of water and jump up and down for a couple minutes to jiggle the stomach back down to its normal position. No harm or cost in giving this approach a try. You should know quickly, in a couple days, if this approach helps.
Forty years ago, I did an activity which forced part of my stomach up through or past the diaphragm. It was a couple months later that I suddenly started having severe stomach pains. I was initially misdiagnosed by a doctor as having ulcers. It was a couple of years of misery before I realized that the doctor was wrong and I had gastric reflux disease, or GERD. Often, GERD happens naturally without a clear cause. More so with older people. Normally, the esophagus sphincter and the diaphragm sphincter muscles line up and reinforce each other. If part of the stomach is pushed or pulled up through the diaphragm, the sphincter muscles don’t line up and stomach acid can more easily leak into the esophagus, causing GERD.
Other people suggest drinking warm or hot water to relax the muscles, I would suggest cold water so that the heavy water will stay in the stomach longer. I would also suggest doing it first thing in the morning so the water won’t affect the digestion process on other food. It may take a repeat on a few successive days for the esophagus to adapt to the new longer length for the stomachs to stay in its new proper position. I would repeat the process anytime I got heartburn or acid taste in my mouth. I have been trouble free for over 35 years now, and can eat anything. I later learned of a gastroenterologist in Michigan who recommends this process also; maybe others now also.
The body needs strong hydrochloric acid in the stomach to trigger the esophageal sphincter to close, to break down bulk foods generally, and to specifically separate protein into the amino acid components to be effectively absorbed into our blood stream from the small intestines for use by our body to make new proteins. Most or all GERD medicines block the production of or neutralize the hydrochloric acid which then interferes with protein digestion and interferes with esophageal sphincter closing. Both of those actions are counterproductive.

I feel like a gas bubble in my upper rght side of my chest area. I have difficulty burping sometimes like I am choking I have to gasp for breath. I also have brain fog and sometimes feel light headed. I also have no gallbladder, it was taken out about 24 years ago. I am currently binge watching Dr Berg's videos here on YTube. I am already doing the keto diet. He is recommends ACV in warm water before breakfast. Also B1 nutritional yeast and for people without a gallbladder he said Tudca is good to try. Hi Margaret,
I have suffered similar symptoms , impacted sleep as it would wake me up choking , difficult breathing .
Warm water helped to flush down the acid. I think sleep apnea might also be a problem .
But after seeing consultants with no diagnosis, my doctor said I may have LPR.
she gave me PPI inhibitors which I knew was not a good idea. Research shows that acid reduces with age which affects the opening to the stomach and oesophagus to stay open. I also found out that acid problems occur between 10pm-2am as when stomach acid activity cis most active ,+ this used to be always when I would wake up.
Anyhow I decided to take 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar an hour before my breakfast and lunch meals and sometimes dinner if I ate something late. This increased my stomach acid and my symptoms started improving a lot and I am sleep more deeply without waking up . Still have the odd day, but I know it has been self inflicted . One other big thing that caused my issue was caffeine from tea. I noticed once I stopped drinking tea, my symptoms stopped too . Caffeine affects stomach acidity . So after sometime, I re-introduced one cup of weak tea only early morning , that’s it . The other thing I stopped eating late, dinner is done by 6pm, 3-4 hours before bed and my stomach acid and organs are no longer digesting my dinner . This made a big difference too.
I am 54 now , so I agree you are young, but it does not mean you could not have same issues. This is what doctors do, they put everyone in the same boat, but we are all different and one does not fit all.
Thank you for your video and I wish your good health .
And I agree deep, I in disturbed sleep is a big factor to good health and healing. I see the benefits if this so much now that I do suffer from LPR bouts

Cervical spine compression or nerve impingement can also seemingly spontaneously start these issues. The way you sleep over many years can wear down on ligaments, tendons, muscles in/around your spine which connects to nerves all over the body, especially the stomach. Its extremely difficult to diagnose these problems and find a fix.
Sometimes going to a Chiropractor or PT who can help do spinal, shoulder, and back mobility work to release tension, can alleviate some symptoms. It's unfortunate that some specialists don't accept all insurance, so many people are left to deal with these somewhat chronic ailments for all their lives. Always good to avoid pharmaceutical pills if possible, bc they usually start causing havoc elsewhere over time.
I've also read that an undiagnosed and missed tooth infection (cavity) can also spread to nerves in your mouth that can manifest symptoms of gerd and other pro-inflammatory changes as well. Good dental hygiene and regular cleanings are equally important.
Great video and a lot of good info.

I have been diagnosed with GERD, and was prescribed acid-reducing medication. I also didn't feel that was the answer. I found if I do a strict Keto or Carnivore diet, I had no acid-reflux. But since I still love some Carbs, or would like to enjoy Holiday Foods, so I'll go off-diet, but then I would take my acid-reflux medication (only about 4 or 5 times a year), but I get faster results with taking supplements or over-the-counter meds, like Apple Cider Vinegar; Milk Thistle or supplements that support the liver (I also have Fatty Liver), blood sugar reducing supplements like Berberine, Benfotamine, Chromium, especially after eating a high-carb meal, which 9 out of 10 times eventually gives me GERD (I am not diabetic, though these last supplements help with that too), and occasionally as a last resort, "Tums" like antacids (Calcium Carbonate), though those previously mentioned supplements and diets should be tried first.

It's not that I'm not sure what helped- it all worked together. A lot of people are looking for one magic pill or a simple quick fix that will get rid of their reflux, but that almost never works. Each system in our body works together- if you ignore that and focus only on one thing, you will miss the bigger picture. Something in your body (and probably more than one thing) is out of balance, and you can make small changes to get everything back into balance and working how it should. Good luck!

    • @mindyours752

@@margaretntpWhat helped was fixing your gut microbiome. Being it gives you good gut bacteria that helps direct gas in the right direction. Also the probiotics helps fix your digestive system and solidified the food in your gut a lot faster by breaking ut down with the new formed stomach acid you got from drinking a lot of lemon juice; which pineapple juice works the same. Forcing gas to go in a completely different direction and not upward and having the lemon juice tighten your esophagus helped to prevent it from going upward but more downward. Yet I suggest getting off the probiotics after 2 weeks and sticking to fatty salmon or tuna which will help in smoothing out your intestines. Plus since it's easier to break down. Also stay away from onion and garlic which will trigger the reflux. Yet continue with ginger, chamomile, and dandelion root. Eat a lot of pumpkin seeds since it works as a great antioxidant. Also dont sit down a lot and lay on your left side while sleeping. Dont lay on your stomach or back. But have your head levitated but also a pillow in between your legs. This helps straighten up your body but also create better air passage. Being when you lay on your back it basically locks the air/gas that is supposed to come out your but redirects it to your lungs. If you lay on your chest you are basically applying to much pressure on your chest which will trigger a reflux response. Just eat a lot of cauliflower, zucchini, broccoli, drink at chamomile, ginger, green tea, papaya, and dandelion root tea at least 2 to 3 times a day which organic lemon powder is a bit more gentler than standard lemon powder. Always incorporate ginger and turmeric into your meals. You can also include cardamom, grounded cloves, grounded papaya seeds, flax seeds, and/or powdered pumpkin seeds into your meal plan. A lot of the time acid reflux occurs is because the food you ate was either too spicy, greasy, or it was too hard to break down. If not you just drank a lot of acidic things or just once that caused a flare up. So switch to just pure vegetables, fish, berries, and nuts like walnuts and almonds. As well as seeds like pumpkin and sunflower seeds. It'll fix and change your digestive system. Get at least 6 bottles of water in a day on top of your tea plan. Being tea can dehydrate you., so incorporate water and coconut water 0 sugar into your routine. Keep away from sweets and junk food for at least a few weeks or find alternatives like dates that'll fix that right up for you.

No it is not. I did drink whole world of apple cider and it is not low acid or high acid. After 19 years living with horrific reflux, I have learned that you stop eating sugar, chocolate, tomato paste, kind of all cakes, coffee and cola. All you have todo is to stop eating them and you will live with reflux without affecting your life. There is no any other solution, no it is not low acid, no it is not high acid. It is all about what you eat. Do not believe taking PPI, vitamins, acids etc.. They are not going to solve your problem. You will be fine when you take PPI for 2 months and when you drop it, you will have worst reflux than ever. The reason of the f4king reflux is your intestines, it does not accept sugar, chocolate, tomato paste, coffee and cola. Therefore intestines do not digest them on time and your stomach pushes what you eat to up side due to too much gas in intestines. That is all what reflux is. Nothing else. This is also called IBS too where all people are wrong, there is no such reflux or ibs both are wrong. It is all about your intestines that does not accept everything you eat while normal people do not have this issue. Shortly it is coming from your genetics, you have a sick panic attacked intestines and it is your destiny.

Been on the AWD for the past few months. My main symptoms were congested nose and excess mucus and chronic throat clearing. The diet helped with the congestion but I still have the throat clearing. I’ve been allergy tested and I’m not allergic to anything. I really don’t know what to do next.

    • @margaretntp
      @margaretntp  Před rokem +2

It's definitely frustrating when those symptoms don't go away and all the tests come back normal! I think the throat clearing can stick around longer because that area is still inflamed and can take a while to heal (because it's so sensitive to acid, pepsin, etc). Adding in some healing foods might help... I mention a few of my favorites near the end of my video about diet (czcams.com/video/LLoDg2pA_iQ/video.html). I'd also try some things to improve your digestion and see if that makes more difference long-term. :)

I’m 39, active and healthy. I had this issue creep up on me and wasn’t sure how to approach it. ENT or GI Doc? Is this an allergic reaction to food/drink? Am I being exposed to something harmful at work?
Here’s what my symptoms look like:
Episodic. Could be daily or weekly.
Random feeling of pressure in stomach/abdomen. Always regular, never constipated. Usually symptoms begin in the late afternoon or evening. Never in the morning. Worst when sitting, better when standing, best when lying down. Sometimes symptoms begin on empty stomach, sometimes 1-3 hours after a meal. Sometimes consuming a meal would actually help subdue the symptoms if they already began….
Relief of pressure by burp or just involuntary relaxation of stomach/esophagus without trying or with positional change. Then, almost instantaneously, tightness in throat. Like instant dryness/tension/swelling with quick buildup of mucus. Always incessant throat clearing, sometimes globus. Coughing. Asthma-like reaction with variable degree of chest tightening. Sometimes tightness in my back between shoulder blades. Then the sinuses. Complete shutdown and closure. Sometimes burning/stinging. Never any heartburn or feeling of liquid acid in my throat or elsewhere. It is almost gaseous. Symptoms can last for hours or even days.
These symptoms started slowly many months ago and gradually progressed in intensity and regularity. In an instant, I will feel like I’ve gone from running on 8 pistons to 4. It can wreck my day. I am nearly certain that I’m experiencing a reaction to pepsin rising from the stomach to places that it shouldn’t be. If the onset of symtols can’t be prevented, It needs to be neutralized and washed out. Here are some suggestions if this applies to you:
Neti pot will save me if I can address the symptoms in time, as they’re starting. I also pay attention to internal stomach pressure and take OTC gas medication after meals. This, I believe, keeps pressure off of the LES so the pepsin doesn’t escape the stomach via LES.
The other game changer is just a baking soda and water solution to gargle. It will save you when the symptoms set in. I wish everyone luck with this. I don’t believe in PPIs as a magic wand. The journey to figure out whether or not this was allergy/exposure related was extremely difficult. As a funny aside, I am a cop. I was wondering if my pepper spray was leaking and stopped carrying it on my duty belt. Of course I drink a lot of coffee late at night to get me though my shifts. Compression from my ballistic vest isn’t helping, either. Meal management, positional changes (less sitting, pressure on stomach) spice/caffeine/acidic food & drink avoidance should help.

I did not know that I had LPR until I was sent to an ENT for a mysterious thickness in my throat found on an ultrasound. The Dr. told me it was a swollen irritated lingual tonsil, and did I know that I had LPR? Then a visit the next month to my dentist showed serious erosion on a rear tooth. She asked me if I knew that I had LPR. So accepting now that I did, I realized that I had been having symptoms for years, probably after a gut bug I picked up when I was traveling. I had a hoarse voice, cleared my throat a lot, sinus congestion, bloating, gas. I am drinking alkaline water to dilute the pepsin in my mouth and throat, trying to figure out foods that cause high fermentation in the gut. I'm getting an endoscopy to rule out any other issues. I don't have a plan beyond that.

There are usually multiple things working together that cause the reflux, so it's hard to say what to do in a quick reply. For myself and some others that I've worked with, the shortness of breath went away when the deeper issues and causes were addressed. I would focus on balancing the microbiome and improving the digestion. Hi, for the past almost 4 years I have had inflammation in my throat where actual food pieces (like bread crumbs) gets stuck and eventually will wash away. It has been a very trying time for me. This developed about a year after I had my son via c section and also developed an umbilical hernia from pregnancy. The Dr. said he did not want me to start medication until I stopped breastfeeding. Well I breastfed my son for 3 years. I finally stopped but am honestly very apprehensive about swallowing pills because it honestly scares me because if what happens when I eat, obviously I don't want medication to be floating around in my throat. My option is famotidine suspension, I want to try it, but I just want to do what works. Ive been praying to God for help and I trust that He is helping me but I know He helps those whom help themselves, so here Iam almost 4 years later searching for answers still. And wondering if anyone has experienced what I am experiencing with my throat and what helped? It literally feels like I have a little pocket in my throat.

Hello Margaret, I am commenting for some advice because I think you made me realize I might have both GERD and LPR. I've been on carnivore for 2 weeks, and my GERD symptoms have pretty much went down significantly. But ever since starting, all the symptoms relating to my throat have still remained. This involves a lot of what you've mentioned, ever since receiving "GERD", I haven't had heartburn but I have had: Bloating, inflammation, really bad stools, and in terms of throat issues I've also had: Feeling like something is stuck, not being able to talk for long periods of time, and overall dry throat and feeling the need to spit. The throat issues still remain, and are the only symptoms I have left. What would you suggest? I have looked into possibly trying lemon water, but is there anything specific you think could help me? I also do not wanna be on Carnivore forever, I really just intend to heal my gut. I feel that the issue has to be that there has been bacteria and stomach tissue that's been unable to heal due to the constant intake of carbs. What would you recommend for this?

Balancing the mircobiome and improving digestion by supporting all of the digestive organs is helpful. It's often not one simple thing causing the problem, but a combination of imbalances or dysfunction within the body that results in reflux. It's hard to answer in a quick reply, because the answer is usually a bit more involved. Working with someone who is familiar with LPR and GERD can be really helpful!

Yes, take natural prebiotic food, or u may try prebiotic pills too, avoid food which contains heavy protein, avoided fermented foods, specially made breads made with refined wheat flour, avoid citrusy food. Try to go with oats, rice or few milet dishes. Try supplement with lycopene & B 12. Avoid meat or chicken( it takes long time to digest as compare to vegetarian food. Over doges of PPI ( antacid pills) may cause for poor digestion. Keep your upperbody 4 to 6 inches upward( slanted) which will help to reduce night time acide reflux attacks due to gravity, do not try to sleep before two to three hours after having meal. That will cure you.
