True because in the old days you needed FM Radio to listen to it. Most young people in those days were listening to FM Radio, because there's where it was at. Those were the Deep Tracks stations of there day. Not only was the music Groovie...But everything was Far-Out !!!
Every time I hear a song by Jim Morrison it always takes me back, I was late teens in the early 70's. When I graduated from high school in 1971 I had three goals. First was to get a job of sorts just so I could fill up the gas tank of my 1966 Ford Falcon my parents had graciously given me. Second was to look around for what was my first Harley Davidson, an old ex-police Servicar. Third was to psych myself up as much as possible and face the draft. Told myself I wasn't going to volunteer, but if drafted I would go......
This is such a beautiful song and you can tell it is very sincere. I'm sure if I ever break up with someone, this song will be played on repeat until I feel better.
Jim Morrison is great wow what a voice his voice is like crystal clear and so mysterious and so great the lyrics of the song crystal ship is so emotional and heart touching and so much leaning into it
@Aleksandar Ciric Postovanje! :) Yeah, his sensibilities were more pro-our regime at that time. But, I don't know what he'd think of having one man to spread it and people needing to worship him. lol He'd insult us for not coming up with that on our own. haha
I'd hate to say I'm jealous, but it must have been a significant moment for sure. Blew my shot at the military unfortunately. Glad you made it back alive.
I'm a child of the 60's, great music. I must of been 10 yrs old, when I heard this song, feel in love with it. smooth and make you soul sway with the sound. The Doors had that feeling in their music. Jim he left us too soon. Can you image what they could of done. Their legend is amazing, it could be even greater. But for what they produce, we have to just accept and be greatful what they left us.
A song written more than forty years ago, still so fresh..., like it was written yesterday, but no..., noone could write songs like this in the present...
Written in '66, so that's 54 years ago? The Doors music is still enjoyed worldwide; I talked with a 20 something, jazz keyboard player this week about his fave Doors songs; "oh, Crystal Ship and...and Love Street!" We're both living in a small town in Mexico.
" too smart for his time "? What does that even mean? He was a mediocre writer who was lucky enough to meet ray manzarek who was a keyboard savant and robbie Krieger. Its jazz music with half assed drug induced lyrics .
Very poetical lyrics and beautiful words. Jim Morrison was always a true poet and seemed that words just flowed out of him. Ray Manzarek brought it to life with his organ and piano playing. In other channels here on Y-Tube Ray Manzarek does great piano renditions , of this song. But the Doors in general brought this song to life. That's why they're called the Doors of perception.
My favorite Doors song! And with good reason, I loved to sing this song (and still do) and also, "and tell me where your freedom lies, the streets are fields that never die". And such are our streets. It is in your existential being that you will find your streets of freedom!
My dad used to listen to the doors en I was young, I finally appreciate them at 43.. I ventured into the hip hop world although I always felt that poetry was at hip hops core.. now I have a great appreciation for classic that is poetic at its core.. sometimes you have to come back home after obtaining the insight or tools.
I was 14 when I discovered The Doors & The Crystal Ship was by far my favorite Doors song & still is. I knew most of the words but it wasn't until seeing this vid that I got the last few - "I'll drop a line..." Makes a huge difference to me, so thank you Fritz.
Victoria L. I was 14 when this came out. if I remember right, it was flip side of the 45 record light my fire. Both those songs were their best. Jim's voice was at its best then.
have someone sing it to you, with the same kind of passion and voice, all for you, and that is something else entirely. Thanks to his momma, who raised him right!
Ah, it's like you entirely missed the point of the song and the whole record in general. Maybe you should read some trusted articles and interviews that explain Morrison's relationship with his parents and then listen to "The End" to be sure. :)
in the book "life, death, legend" written for jim it was stated that his mother beat him with such rage to cleanse him, he fought her back. True facts in the book.
1983 Copenhagen had a record library, fantastic music available,l used to sit most days for an hour or so ,doors first album, headphones by the window, watching life in the square below…. This is the one song that will always remind me of a special time in life
On this day in 1967 {July 22nd} the Doors performed "The Crystal Ship" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV network Saturday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'... The song was track three of side one on the quartet's debut album, 'The Doors', the album peaked at #2 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart... And on the same 'Bandstand' show they also performed "Light My Fire", at the time it was at #3 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, the following week it would peak at #1 {for 3 weeks}... A personal note: Always had a great affection for "Light My Fire", for it was the #1 record on the day I was discharged from the U.S. Navy {July 31st, 1967}...
rest in paridise Robert van fansler, he passed away this morning last thing I heard him singing was crystal ship something so I searched this to pay homage to another man gone before his time ,forever rest in peace ,thanks for being there love you man
This is the best and most beautiful song ever made. But that's just my opinion.
And a great damn opinion i may add
It's right up there.
same opinion I have
Pretty good 💖 🎶🎶 🎶🎵 💙 😎
YEAH YOU'RE RIGTH!;P
God, such lyrics, such soul. We miss you Jim Morrison.
jim is god
well said Kara.
I miss Jim Morrison too
Those who have never listened to the Doors have been deprived their entire lives.
True Detective Season 1 agree the best stuff was never played on the radio.
True because in the old days you needed FM Radio to listen to it. Most young people in those days were listening to FM Radio, because there's where it was at. Those were the Deep Tracks stations of there day. Not only was the music Groovie...But everything was Far-Out !!!
I was in Fremont in '68. The air promised a new adventure every day.😊
Exactly!
One of the greatest songs ever written.
Simply the best
who wrote this? robby?
This was ALWAYS my Favorite Doors song. Just hauntingly beautiful.

+Lovely Fortune lol pretty sure its about math dude but what ever floats your bout lol
+Shannon q it's actually a song he wrote for one of his girlfriends after she broke up with him so...yeah
It's about math? That explains why I have the urge to solve differential equations every time I listen to it.
this song helped me every semester, thank you Jim!
@@shannonq2427
Math? No, not math. It's about a break-up, you condescending dolt. Now go float YOUR boat, imbecile lol.
Jim Morrison is great wow what a voice his voice is like crystal clear and so mysterious and so great the lyrics of the song crystal ship is so emotional and heart touching and so much leaning into it
Jim Morrison a man before his time.
this song I like cause it reminds me of good memories of august 2011 to august 2012
nan franklin I agree. And his songs will always live... Frosso from Greece
AMEN.
@Aleksandar Ciric Postovanje! :) Yeah, his sensibilities were more pro-our regime at that time. But, I don't know what he'd think of having one man to spread it and people needing to worship him. lol He'd insult us for not coming up with that on our own. haha
I listened to this tune out of a helicopter door in 1968 Vietnam. great group!
ChipMarine wow! What kinda chopper was that? Was the music piped through the chopper?
Thank you Vietnam Vet.
That's wild! I can picture the scene in my head
that must have been surreal.
I'd hate to say I'm jealous, but it must have been a significant moment for sure. Blew my shot at the military unfortunately. Glad you made it back alive.
Man..I love this track..Morrison could croon when he had to..it's like a lullaby..for grown ups..
It does sound like lullaby
His voice is angelic and soothing at the same time.
I'm a child of the 60's, great music. I must of been 10 yrs old, when I heard this song, feel in love with it. smooth and make you soul sway with the sound. The Doors had that feeling in their music. This poetic song has always haunted me. Morrison's voice sounds very soft and clear. He seems to sum up this song...
A song written more than forty years ago, still so fresh..., like it was written yesterday, but no..., noone could write songs like this in the present...

We're both living in a small town in Mexico.
Now it’s over 50 years ago! Crazy!
The doors are fucking underrated and so beautiful
one of my favourites songs for all time.
Jim had a beautiful voice and this song showcases it.
Jim Morrison was just too smart for his time and he died way too young.
Some go soonr then othrs
Isaac Newton was too young for his time
Debra Franklin Alcoholism and drug addiction know no boundaries.
" too smart for his time "? What does that even mean? He was a mediocre writer who was lucky enough to meet ray manzarek who was a keyboard savant and robbie Krieger. Its jazz music with half assed drug induced lyrics .

@@danigovers2389 yes indeed, their music is interdimentional.
the sheer beauty of this song wretches my heart every time I listen it's never easy
My favorite Doors song! And with good reason, I loved to sing this song (and still do) and also, "and tell me where your freedom lies, the streets are fields that never die". And such are our streets. It is in your existential being that you will find your streets of freedom!
Manzerak dominates this song.
i so agree with you
I was thinking the same thing until I came upon your comment.
Any song lol 😜🥇🔥🔥🔥☄
Jim's really high up in his vocal range, but has nice control; he had no singing training at all apparently.
Yep, he's definitely there in the best possible way.
Sheer brilliant poetry and I'm sure a musical arrangement that is almost entirely crafted outside the lines and the voice, another dimension.
so grateful my parents raised me on The Greats, The Doors, Beatles, Janis,Dylan, CCR
One of my favorites, it makes sense.
I don't know why but this song brings tears.
awesome song--I just discovered it--the lyrics are so poetic and moving--best Morrison song, his voice is incredible

One of my fave Doors tracks. A simple kiss made very meaningful.
have someone sing it to you, with the same kind of passion and voice, all for you, and that is something else entirely. Thanks to his momma, who raised him right!
I'm not even joking, I can sing a lot of his songs just like him, both voice and actions

My favorite doors song. And that's saying a lot considering their catalogue.
The meeting of a poet with a very good band equal immortality.
Saying goodbye shouldn't always be sad....when "WE'LL MEET AGAIN WE'LL MEET AGAIN "❤
Beautiful song.
