The Doors channel is the official CZcams home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.
With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.
The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger - a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.

The following year we would see Jimi Hendrix at work. We boomers were fortunate enough to see musical history in progress. My favorite concert was New Riders of the Purple Sage, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and the Grateful Dead. A very small crowd meant we were able to sit on the floor directly in front of the stage. I think all his told a story from his perspective and alot of people really didn't understand what he was really trying to say, I know he knew what he was trying to convey, but alot of people didn't really get it. @@cahillgreg What do you know about it? The impact of this particular performance resonates throughout rock n' roll history...and it's future. It's not just what a performance IS but also what it DOES to a culture! Guess who was at that show that night? Got any idea? Let me help: A kid named James Newell Osterberg. You should know who that is. Iggy Fucking Pop. He was severely influenced by this performance....Aaaand, because of that fact, rock n' roll was irreversibly changed. Again, I say: "This, my friends, is a true [rock n' roll] masterpiece. Yeah...

John Densmore is the most under appreciated drummer from the 60’s. Everyone thinks Bonham, Mitchell and Ginger Baker… but never saw them play such exact jazz beats like him. Mike Schrieve from Santana might be up there, but Densmore is definitely my personal favorite.
