Who would have thought the people in China were so helpful! That’s good to hear because we’ll be there in two months!
This day was an incredible experience we will never forget. True kindness was bestowed upon us. Thanks for watching!
@@Peregrination Western media describe China as evil.In fact, China is a prosperous, friendly, peaceful and very secure country.

yeah, the chinese are also hated by the rest of the world too. @bj2690

What an awesome couple on quite an adventure! Love your videos!
I like watching your videos. You guys are always cheerful and positive. When someone gets out of their way to help you, just cheerfully accept it. It's also polite to do that. Just remember to pay it forward. It makes for good karma.
very genuine video, i mean not from those famous big cities, this is exactly what small-medium cities look like in china.
kunming is a famous big city.
Zengjie Zhang medium size to be exact
Kunming is a famous tourist destination. It’s far from a nobody city
Although local people couldn't speak in English, but main transport, streets name are also written in English as well, that's why if you travelling in most Far East counties without worrying get lost in directions. if you travelling in USA and Europe countries, then you will get difficulty and if you can't understand their language, because everythings are written in their own language or single language.
it reminds me of another experience. I was in Yichang ( to board the cruise), I took the bus but was short 20 cents RMB, the bus driver simply accepted what I put into the cash box, I was very appreciative of that. Just before I got off the bus, I thank him for his kindness.
老 頑 童 there r so many times, I forgot my card, before everything goes digital, either the bus driver will winkle at me and wave his head, or someone else on the bus will hand me two coins...sometimes these kind of kindness will bring a whole day good mood
that area is one of least developed chinese provinces because those provinces are located in the middle never ending mountains. using the word "poorest" is not exaggeration, i meant GDP per capita.
I certainly don't deny that Yunnan is still quite poor compared to the coastal provinces, as Yunnan's GDP per capita is only around 5,600 USD in 2018, compared to Beijing and Shanghai which are nearly 20,000 USD. But you should also admit that China has made a lot of progress over the past several decades. In the 1980's China's average GDP per capita is only about one or two hundred USD, and now we're at 9,800.
There's a professor that's interviewed about poor people in China; she said it's easy to measure poor people from GDP but sometimes we have to take into account that even though their GDP is smaller but they're happy with what they have, a roof over their head, clothes to wear and food 3 times a day; they're satisfied with that. When we (Government official and professors) went there and told them 'Do you know that you're poor?' They're kind of baffled.
Love your videos!
So lovely couple,welcome to china.
I love your video!
what a lovely couple. hope you had a wonderful time visiting china
Aw thanks! We are having a great time in China! Thanks for watching our video!
you two are such a pair of lovely couples, anybody would love to have you
Awesome!
Amazing experience!
Thank you so much for watching our video! This day was absolutely crazy, probably one of the most hectic but friendly travel days we've ever had!
Thanks for sharing! Such a great video. I did the same border cross last year but on the opposite direction from Kunming to Lao Cai. Anyway, it would've been easier and comfortable if you could take a train from Hekou to Kunming.
How exciting are land border crossings? I call the attraction 'frontieraphilia' - a love of borders. Great video guys.
Ha! Not very exciting to be honest.. a little scary, sketchy, and nerve-racking! But each time we've crossed a border on foot it has turned out to be just fine! A little invigorating even!
amazing journey
Great video
welcome to China,have good day!
Thank you!
love the video!
Just came across this video randomly. But loved it. Much better than a lot of tourist vlogs that only show the glamorous and Instagram basic places. And congrats on making it to Kunming lol. I’m Chinese and don’t even know if I would’ve made it.
This reminded me of my first day in china!!
The Yunnan-China-Vietnam border county has just opened a high-speed train to Kunming, which only takes three hours to reach Kunming. And it's cheaper than a car.
welcome to kunming, also i‘m a kunminger.Watching your guys had so much fun in yunnan,so glad to see that
Handsome guy and beautiful lady with incredible memory in life.
May the force be with you.

Hey, thanks! We have fun, and every day is an adventure (good and bad!) Thanks for watching our channel!
Nice video!
6:43 WOW. For me, the place in video is all too familiar. I used to live in that alley(豆腐厂巷) for three years. In fact, there are short-term rentals in that alley for only 450-600 RMB a month.
哈哈!祝你们旅行开心快乐!
Thank you for your video to let everyone know about China
Haha Great video! The front of that oreo box actually says oreo in Chinese(奥利奥)
LOL we must have been very tired!
There are good people in China too. I hope you guys enjoy China.
8:33 Those are simply just broccoli stems lol thats why they taste familiar to you guys
LOL they were delicious!
#peregrination We returned from China back in December after 4.5 months and spent some time in Vietnam during that time. Absolutely love both countries. Love your videos and subscribed. Would you mind letting me know which camera you use? Quality is amazing.
Thank you, that is very kind! We loved both countries too. To answer your question - we use a basic Cannon G7x Mark 2 camera. Its super small, and easy to handle!
nice vlog~
Thank you!
Aww I accidentally stumbled across your video and you guys are so funny. I lived in China couple years ago for work and the second day when I got there I wanted to go home. :( Now looking back at it, I should have enjoyed my time there) . Before I moved there, I did make sure my apartment has
a western style bathroom ( An actual shower) .
Hahah, that would be important for us too! There is nothing like a real shower and a western toilet.
All the subway trains and high speed rail stops as well as train announcements are in English, Mandarin and possibly the provincial language (eg, in places like Xinjiang - Arabic/Uyghur, Guangdong - Cantonese, Inner Mongolia - Mongolian, Tibet -tibetan...etc) They are aware foreign tourists do not know how to read them.
It's so sweet to have such a warm experience while traveling in foreign countries. China is one of the collective countries where people share tiles and responsibilities with each other. Maybe that's why they just feel natural to give a hand when others are in need.
We were overwhelmed by the kindness we received. It was truly amazing!
Welcome!
i suggest visitors if you do not have quite enough budgets to the city which you suppose to go, YUNNAN is a kind of place may suit you to take a look, but also north west of China like XIAN is another choice to backpackers, by the way, travel schedule is essential, it means certain research must be taken.
the weather is superb in yunnan. not a fan of the border area tho lol
Welcome to China!

China’s payment is the most convenient method around the world, hope you enjoy the trip in China 😍
Never knew you can walk into another country, I always imagine something like flying in or by sea.
You are really brave. I have a company in China and I go there every year for three weeks. I always have my assistants go with me when I travel out the big cities even I speak pretty decent Chinese.
chris wilson lol, why?
It’s not so necessary, but as a foreigner, you can enjoy a better journey with an assistant because of cultural barriers.
Love from South India Chennai.

Admire your courage! Such a wonderful couple! Is it true that walking into China does not require any visa?
You definitely need a visa. We got multiple entry visas in Hanoi! It was a long process, but worth it in the end!
Love you guys’s videos so much so fun 🤩
The packed plate bowl and glass is not always clean and I honestly don't know why they pack it, maybe it's easier to give it to customers
I usually use hot water to 'clean it'
I am amazing that u guys can ues the chopstickssp well
Hahaha thank you!!!! We have had lots of practice!
'Helping others makes happiness', which has always been believed by Chinese people. Welcome to China! As a Harbiner, I would recommend you come to Northeast China, especially come to Harbin, you can move to Russian on foot from here! Hope you everything good luck in China! Love your videos

I think it would be much better if you guys can have title at the below to tell viewers where are you, from where to where etc
So now you learned from those kind people to be kind to other people ;-)
Viet Nam Lao Cai border line gate across Nam Thi border line river match with China Hekou border line gate. I love culture of Asian man on the world.
Welcome to Kunming.
Welcome to China .... eat full eat happy . 😍😍

Glad you guys found Chinese people so friendly and helpful!
We are so grateful for the people we met this day. We would have been lost without their kindness 😌
i remember doing this 12 years ago. and it was wwwwaaaayyy more confusing -_-
crossed the border way early in the morning the goods are all lined up in the bridge. it was really hard because of the language barrier and the confusion that it will make you wanna go back to vietnam 😆😆😆
When you visit Yunnan, be sure to visit Xishuang Banna and Dali, and enjoy the beautiful scenery as well as ethnic minority cultures.
I think you ordered duck!! It is the best!!
Either Vietnam or China, a complete meal gotta have Fried Veggie, Soup, Slow-cooked dish, served with Rice.
4:22 Holy Shyt THOSE SOLAR PANELS! Never seen that before. Even I'm a Chinese. Been Canada for too long.
Are you using a Panasonic camera? There is pulsing in the background but, your faces are in focus in the night shots.
the dish you ate was cucumber i think, was already peeled.
those people trading across the border; is there some special permit they have to criss cross?
Hope you enjoy China! If there are any chance you guys can visit Beijing we can grab a dinner together and tells me more about this trip! And again enjoy your trip

Hello guys, just wanna let you know that google translate is available in china even though that is the only google app you can use without using VPN in china. I think Google Translate will give a lot of help!
I wish they told us how much each item cost, Bus ride, Dinner, Hotel and Breakfast? It would help as I was thinking of going to China. Thanks!
The Gray Fox try to download Chinese apps before u come, u will get the local prices. Actually I think wechat or Alipay is enough, u can basically do anything with it, booking train tickets and hotels, subways, order food, map, calling for taxi...
140:0 amazing
yes, there are lots of very friendly Chinese ( like our experience in Lijiang train station), but you should always be on alert for scammers !!!! I was scammed once myself. Have fun in China.
as a chinese, i have never been to kunming... maybe should go there next time...
I'm from Yunnan, I have been that border
Thank you for watching. 😀
When I went to Kunming, everyone was super kind and helpful too. Totally different to Beijing or Shanghai, where unfortunately most tourists to China get a bad impression of Chinese people and hospitality.
In Kunming, when I couldn’t get a Western Union at one bank, the staff called around and then walked me up the road to another bank where I could get it! There’s no way you’d get such service or kindness in the UK. At the time I couldn’t read or speak any Chinese, but many people tried to help me when I wanted to get a bus. Someone spotted that I needed help and asked around the others at the bus stop to see if anyone could speak English and help me. A young woman with her mum led me to the ticket office and explained everything for me, and then they invited me to tea! If the roles were reversed and a Chinese person came to the UK, needing help with the bus, not speaking any English, I’m afraid that most people would just ignore them or worse. I would love to visit Yunnan again. The culture and nature is great too.
9:42 I think I see "OREO" on the box lmao
Rorschach Got Nice Mask 哈哈哈哈哈
LOL, you do! Hahaha
Rainbow flag on KUNMING metro ticket??!!! I want that!!! 🌈
There are trains from hekou to Kunming. It is much faster.
have fun in China!

Thank you, you are so kind!
帅哥美女你们好!中国欢迎你们来旅行。祝旅途愉快!
It would be good just to use apple map, it works everywhere, apple works with local navigating service companies who provide accurate information to apple, so apple maps its the one you want to use in China for Forgriners who doesn't speak Chinese. If you do read and speak Chinese, you can use Gaode or Baidu apps, they work even better.
