1972 C10 SHOP TRUCK - Treating Rust in the Cowl, Preparing for Paint, Replacing Ball Joints.

  • In this episode, we are getting the engine bay one step closer to paint. While the rust 'repair' isn't as thorough as I'd normally do, I feel like this is closer to the repair that anyone can do in their driveway or back yard. The main point is to keep water from coming into the cab, and I'm confident that this repair will meet that goal. After all, this is a Rat Rod Patina style build, so let's get to work!

      Oh, it will all come apart one of these days. But I need the truck to be functional right now more than I need it to be pretty.

      I just pulled a customer’s 68 all apart, the rust is under the lap welded on panels, look at my video of my discoveries re the same truck and same problem.

      @@tinygaragefab understood. I was war-gaming doing what you’re doing or pulling it all apart, it would still leak and be a ticking time bomb - I would not do that to my customer.
