I know that dodie has recently said that this song has kind of switched meanings for her; how it used to be this pure human curiosity and now it feels more like a dark obsession or a sad realization. I canât help but still feel that pure curiosity and the want to learn more about someone when I listen to this song, even the new version with dodieâs new meaning in mind. There is something so authentic and lovely about this song... itâs hard to put into words. I will forever love this song

Wowwww so Iâm only back here bc dodies releases this yesterday and it made me realised how much I miss the old times. When Jon and dodie were still friends. Musically, these two have the most beautiful combination. Their voices just blend together the way that two perfect paints do. Seamlessly. Alone they are beautiful, but together they are a perfect colour. They mix the way you would mix a pretty yellow with a pretty blue to make a stunning deep green that is a perfect balance of warm and cool and light and and dark. They just sound gorgeous together.

CJ Evans no thats not harmony. i listened to the part where they sing "human" and that is harmony but singing an octave lower isn't harmony. for example, C4 is an octave up from C3 but singing them together doesnt make harmony. just because there on different places on a piano doesnt mean they aren't practically the same note. harmonizing is singing two different notes that sound good together. Like if you were to sing C4 and G4 it would be harmony. but singing C3 and G4 would sound the same just slightly deeper. this is kind of hard to explain since I'm not exactly an expert but i have a lot of experience with music . hope this summed it up well enough
CJ Evans i texted one of my friends who's taken piano lessons for years and this is what they said: Harmonizing is when multiple notes are being sung. Just because one person is singing a low C vs. another singing it one octave higher does not make it a different note. If 3 people were singing a C, E, and a G as in a chord then that would be harmonizing.

To me this is like the definition of great songwriting. No fancy techno synths, hard-pumping drum loops or crazy vocal processing needed to make the song listenable. Just a ukelele and a couple of voices, and we have music! Brilliant.
