Typical Japanese wedding and japan wedding culture. Japanese weddings consist of two parts - a ceremony where they exchange vows, and a reception followed afterwards. A typical Japanese wedding ceremony and a Japanese wedding reception can be quite different than western weddings. In Japanese wedding culture there is a dress code. Let me just say it’s typically a lot more strict in Japan as there are countless rules, especially for females. For example, women can’t show their shoulders, knees, toes, wear furs or animal prints. They must wear only nude stocking and not black ones and the list goes on. And when you attend as a family of the bride and groom, you must absolutely follow the rules so they don’t lose face. For friends though, there is some gray area. When you attend a Japanese wedding, you must absolutely bring a wedding gift, which typically, only cold hard cash, called Goshugi. No wedding registries really exist. Japanese don’t even know what that is. In addition, it’s critical to use a special envelop, specifically designed for the wedding gift where the ribbons are made to not be untied. And the amount itself is important. Friends and co-workers are expected to give at least 30,000 yen per person, about $225, while cousins and relatives gift at least 30,000 to 100,000 yen and immediate family members are expected to gift even more.

Amazing
Wolfy looked so handsome and you and your wifes hair all done up pretty =)
I don't think thr link works kababayan.

In cae of wedding,i'm happy to not be considered as a too much ancient friends of

merger.😉🙏🏾🙂.
Wolfy's hair looks amazing! 🥰
the moment when paolo realizes he is considered an immediate family member was pretty heart warming
Ikr ❤
I mean, she's his sister in law lmao. His wife is literally the sister of the bride, of course they're immediate family.
Weddings are exquisite, and the Japanese wedding ceremonies totally reach that type of standard. This is documented well. Keep up the good work.
the video was uploaded 26 minutes ago and you commented 23 minutes ago... So you how do you know it is well documented and good work ?
@@gagnarork damn it’s as if we don’t have an option to scroll through the video or give feedback without the need to finishing the whole video
@@gagnarork “well documented” doesn’t mean filming every minute of the video from beginning to end.
indian wedding better, japanese wedding looks soo corporate
@@Coachizz-rf1kw as beautiful as Japanese weddings can be, I agree that it seems very formal and corporate, there are so many rules that must be followed in japanese weddings and that can often take some of the fun out of the day, and no dancing? what? Who doesn't want to dance at a wedding? Apparently Japanese people. Also Image and reputation are so important in Japan, out of the many rules that need to be followed in a Japanese wedding I think the custom of everyone in attendance must give the bride and groom alot of money in cash is the one I'm most annoyed with. I don't think I can afford to attend a Japanese wedding if I have to give at least $225 and much more if I'm a family member? No way. I prefer weddings in other countries where there's much more freedom and the bride & groom basically can plan whatever wedding they want and do whatever they want & the guests don't have to give presents & everyone can just have a good time. Like I said Japanese weddings just seems so formal with so many strict rules.
Damn, with all these rules I guess we're lucky that the family allowed you to make this video. Appreciate it, lovely as always!
I was thinking the same thing.
right. I once attended a Japanese wedding and we couldn't even share videos and the photos in our social medias.
I’m always slightly amazed at the access they’re able to get - at weddings, theme parks, businesses, restaurants.
@@JimmyMidnite webb at 3.22 million subs, its not hard to get access to almost anything, its huge PR.. ;)
His sister in law's wedding though
I’ve been to many weddings in the states and one time I got invited to Japan for a wedding. I was so surprised how everyone dressed very formal. I feel like in the states, not everyone wears a suit or tuxedos, but most men at the wedding wore tuxedo and some in suits. On top of that, the meal was phenomenal! It was a French course meal with the finest quality ingredients and meat from different parts of Japan. Japan just do things at a different level, I was so impressed.
Really - what American wedding doesn't require at least a suit! hmm- never heard or seen that one. don't bother coming to my wedding if you can't wrangle up a decent suit
@@InviteTheLightReadings At least in Southern California not everyone wears suits, it has a lot to do with the weather here.
@@vamosnippon Yeah in many warmer parts of America it's not uncommon for the men to not wear a full suit. Also a lot of newlyweds nowadays are going away from the traditional over the top expensive formal weeding.
I don't understand the obsession with western culture. Shouldn't the Japanese wear their own costumes than imitating the west by wearing gowns and suits?
@@ashwinmiyer6159 2 words, Meiji Restoration. Wikipedia will explain their relationship with western culture.
Wolfy walked down the aisle in such a serious manner. So cute. Job well done.
He's not bending his knees! Hahaha so cute!
Nahhh looked like he shat himself😂😂😂
@@ArielLaboriante HAHA yes so cute!!
Ohh, he fumbled the ball(4:36)😲
With all of their superstitions, I hope they don't consider that bad luck.
Its so funny to see Wolfie looking more and more like Paolo with every video.
You 100% see who the father is in this little one :)
But why was he walking that way?
@@tessdurberville711 I think it was nervousness, after all for a child his age is a pretty big deal to be the ring bearer.
It’s so nice that your family was willing to share this with us! 🙏🏻 much thanks and wishes for their happiness!!
I love that the rules implemented are understood and respected by everyone in attendance. Also, the Families being introduced to one another before the ceremony, is such a lovely custom. What a fabulous glimpse into a Japanese Wedding.
My God! The bride is absolutely gorgeous. Her dresses are so beautiful. I can’t even imagine the hard work that went into planning this day. Wolfy’s walk down the isle is so adorable
Apparently a wedding rehearsal is not a tradition?
That’s a amazing video Paolo! Wolfy did a great job as a ring bearer and Eri looks very beautiful as a bride. May Eri and Junya’s life be fill with happiness in years to come!
Congratulations to Miko’s sister and her husband’s marriage union! The wedding looks elegant and sophisticated!
Maiko*
Yeah so classy 😻 I'm against weddings since they're so expensive but this one really made me wanna have it 😂
@@simonediliberto4314 Oh my god I thought her name was Michael this whole time.
Very stylish and classy wedding. The bride looked beautiful in all her dresses. I smiled all the way through, so uplifting. Many blessings and well wishes to the bride and groom 🌺
I loved the Japanese weddings i was fortunate enough to be invited too - I was a teacher and many of my former students were kind enough to invite me. It was always a beautiful event, especially for those who had traditional Japanese ceremonies ahead of more western ones. While the ceremony was private for family, seeing them in their kimono before they changes into a western style dress was amazing - I still have the hikidemono after nearly 30 years.
That warms my heart 🤍 what an experience to receive !
It looks lame
Congratulations Eri and Junya! May God bless your marriage with happiness and prosperity!
My son, a Black American married his longtime JAPANESE girlfriend years ago in a very, at the beginning traditional ceremony-at a historic registered temple in northeast Japan followed by 6 wardrobe changes by the bride, to a very modern ending reception celebration. It was quite a cultural learning experience. And, even though I do not speak Japanese I could easily figure out the activities including at the temple. Truly unforgettable wonderful experience. Oh, and yes, for couples with children, a small crib was available at the reception. And, because I jumped up and started dancing (though my son told me not to do this), everybody, especially the older guests also joined me 😂 when the music piped in began playing top tunes of the day. Thank you for this video!
I'm Japanese and have been working in the wedding business for about 10 years, but I was surprised to see so much unique Japanese culture! It was very interesting.
May I ask how much wedding usually cost in Japan ?
Very nice wedding. Poor Maiko's Dad looks like he is ready to sleep 🙂 Congrats to Eri and Junya! What a great couple!
Paolo is dressed up! Wow! I almost didn't recognize him! Ha Ha!! Great video Paolo and thank you for sharing this special event wth us!
Every day I get more and more grateful that I found this channel during pandemics. Your family is a joy and a blessing and Japan is so dear to me, hopefully someday I can finally visit there! Loved this video, Paolo, thank you and Maiko for such quality content! Best wishes
Nice video ❤❤❤

Very interesting! Thank you for showing us what a modern-day Japanese wedding can look like and for sharing such a joyous occasion with us. Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Well here we go again, 10 minutes staying up extra. Thanks again for the great content Paolo!
Congratulations to Erichan and Junya for getting married. I wish you both a lovely married life 💕. Also, thanks for the great video Paolo, Japanese wedding traditions are different in many aspects. Especially, not being able to dance 😂.
god I love the "no dancing" part, should be done in every wedding!
formal muslim weddings also have no dancing. Ig it depends on the formalility and class standing of the families
In the Philippines, the wedding video is edited quickly so guests and the couple can watch it during the wedding reception. Its an extra cost but so worth it!
Can I just say, Wolfy's walk down the aisle was something to behold. Absolutely precious.
This was so wholesome. Thank you for sharing your family's joyous occasion with us. Congratulations to the bride and groom!!!
Wolfy was SO perfect in his role as ring bearer! Thank you for sharing this, Paolo - such a lovely event. 🙏🫶
Well done, Wolfy! It's wonderful to see you growing up and becoming more and more amazing with each passing day.
Amazing video Paolo, congratulations to the married couple! 🎉
Thank you Paolo for documenting such a personal moment! It was so cool to see how different Japanese weddings are to those in the UK!
Lovely video! The location was wonderful as well. Maiko and her sister's parents looked so emotional when she was reading a tribute letter to them. It was so sweet. Congrats to the newlyweds
Hi paolo I’ve just watched your wedding video and I have to say I was moved emotionally , I always cry at weddings but I I cried at your one because of the beauty of the way everything was organised with traditions. I wish the newlyweds a very long marriage ❤❤❤❤❤
What a special video to share! 😍 Thank you so much! The Bride and Groom looked gorgeous ❤ everyone in attendance looked elegant!

That was a great video Paolo. Thanks for sharing this beautiful occasion with your viewers. The bride was stunning. Wolfy was so cute caring the rings. You all looked very nice in your formal outfits. Stay safe.
that good video!! Together with my wife we love watching your videos for more than 6 or 7 years now, this was one of the best, it's good to see that the family enjoyed this wedding, a hug from Chile!
Congratulations Eri-chan and Junya-kun ❤ may your lives be filled with happiness and joy for all of your years to come 🥂 Very great video to show Japanese tradition❣️I was wondering how many “oiro naoshi “ (dress changes) she was going to have to I loved that you documented every bit of it! 🫶🏼
I loved how nervous Wolfe was 😆 he did a great job! 👏🏼
My favourite video in the Paolo from Tokyo series. Very insightful about the Japanese society but also fun to watch and listen to.
beautiful wedding! congratulations to the happy couple. Maiko's sister was beautiful and the whole even looked lovely. The food was so well presented and Wolfy was adorable.
Also, loved the chance to see Paolo and Maiko dressed up 😀
Paolo, thanks for sharing this. I have never seen a Japanese wedding and you broke it up down perfectly. Congratulations to your family.
Congratulations to the bride and groom and GREAT JOB, WOLFY!! 💕💕
This was such an interesting video and I’m glad you were able to share it with us! 💕
Wolfy is impossibly cute as a ring bearer. Tha k you for letting us the viewers into this wonderful celebration. Congratulations and Best wishes to the bride and groom!
Wow, everyone and everything looked so beautiful!
Stunning clothes and venue, beautifully executed, just lovely to watch, thank you for sharing this!
Awesome video as always Paolo. It's so interesting to see how other cultures celebrate a joyous occasion.
I enjoyed watching this v much. Am contrasting it to a Chinese Malaysian wedding, where the parents sit in front, the guests are more and there is video of the bride and groom taken earlier in the day shown during dinner. I like the reading the letter to then parents part of this Japanese video and how everyone is dressed so well and looking incredibly smart. Thank you for sharing this video. Congratulations to the bridge and groom.
Congrats Erina on your wedding, and also Wolfy too for having the opportunity to be the ring bearer! Not only does it showcase how different a Japanese wedding is, it also shows how the family is growing
Wow, guest can choose gifts and get it sent to them. Next level thank you gift
Always love your videos Paolo! Fantastic work and insight as always.

Another quality content Paolo! Congrats to the newly wed 😊
Thank you for showing the wedding! So much fun! And very interesting to see a Japanese wedding! Wolfy was super cute!❤
What a amazing people and nation is Japan. The respect, and all the attention to the small detail is unique not were to find. Thank you for this video. God bless the new weds.
congrats to the bride and groom! This looks like such a beautiful wedding, I just adore her dress!
Wishing the newlyweds all the very best....and a view of Japan , we might have never seen, if not for Paolo.
Thanks for the lovely video.
He really did a sponsored segment while attending a wedding 😂😂.
Respect my man ❤
So nice! Thanks for sharing. Definitely more intimate than weddings in the Philippines. :D Best wishes to the couple!
Loved seeing that wedding highlights at the end of night. I’ve been doing wedding video on the side for 10 years and have done a few same day edits like those. It can be hectic but super rewarding. Filipinos wedding filmmakers are probably one of the best in the worlds when it comes to this too
Interesting review of Japanese weddings. I like how the fathers visit each table with cheers, the table with the couple's interests, and the edited videos. Thanks🍀
Erichan's reception dress is so beautiful ❤️. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. !
If I wasn't already married...I would have loved to incorporate some of these traditions. I love the letter reading. How sweet! Beautiful wedding! Congratulations!
This was a nice one. Everyone so well dressed. Her gowns were gorgeous. And to see weddings in another culture. Lovely.
very well documented, another gem, thank you Paolo.
So amazing and personal. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I love how Japan is so modern but still embraces ancient traditions. It is such a beautiful country, culture and people.
To me this doesn't seem like an ancient tradition at all. It looks massively influenced by western weddings. It's more of a mix between Japanese and foreign tradition, probably.
@@mateusssssss567 I am fairly certain the envelopes for money and the way the knots are tied and the kimonos of the mothers go back centuries. Perhaps a kind Japanese citizen will chime in and educate us.
@@207LW but still its way western styled then typical Japanese style weddings ...i was expecting something different
@@207LW I'm not even Japanese, but some couples do a Western style and a Japanese style wedding. But it does look like a typical Western one besides the gift money and dancing.
@@lainiwakura1776 I guess everyone missed the part where I said I love the mixing of the modern and ancient. Obviously this is a modern wedding that has a few ancient traditions woven in….that’s why I said what I said. 🤷♀️
Congratulations to your sister-in-law and her husband. That was a beautiful wedding. Thank you for sharing. It was really interesting to see the subtle differences in Western and Japanese weddings.
Thank you for giving us a view of a traditional(?) japanese wedding :)

You've been killing it with these videos Paolo!
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing, so very interesting to see other cultures celebrate such a wonderful event.
I'm japanese🥺
You are so cool👍️
I will always support you❤
I like that there's no dancing, I hate going to weddings where they turn the reception into a night club
Thank you for sharing the special occasion with us! The bride, your wife, and your mother-in-law are all very beautiful.
you did an awsome job to explain each detail on this video, thanks for all your travel tips and your videos about japan, my wife and i went to japan last fall and your videos helped us alot thank you
Wow, Japanese Weddings are unique! Thanks for sharing this with us, Mr. De Guzman!
I love it. I love the formality, the tradition, the rules. I'm from the West and I've been to many wedding in my life, and many were great, but I find nothing wrong with having to follow rules at an event such as this. If this is how the Japanese get married, then great! To each nation their own. Congratulations to the bride and groom!
Good job, Wolfy!! Congratulations to Eri and Junya!
Thanks for including us, Paolo~
It would be just great one video about the traditional Japanese wedding at the temple too etc thanks for the upload !
I’m going to a wedding this Saturday (for the first time) so perfect timing lol 😂
YES this is an awesome video!!
Great vlog! ❤ Congratulations to the newlyweds 🎉 Way to go Wolfy ❤
Beautiful video! I have to admit, I felt my heart die a little bit when I heard "no dancing." I guess I would probably go out after the wedding lol
Another interesting video. Thank you!!
Congrats to Eri-chan and Junya, looked like a lovely event!
Joy and Love back to you all!😊
I attended a friend's wedding a long time ago in Nikko. It was a traditional ceremony at one of the popular temples. Probably a once in a lifetime experience for me but it was very interesting.
This reminds me of some of the more formal/proper Filipino weddings I've attended, which is more Western, but with a distinctly Asian touch. They do have a videographer doing a live edit for an ending reel, and having things run on time with a wedding coordinator ensuring things are served on time and events happen on time. Similarly, the family greetings and placements, although the immediate families are sat together on a large table, signifying the union via the bride and groom. As for attire, practically everyone should be dressed in barongs or mestiza dresses, with exceptions being made for foreign friends who might not have spent money just for a cultural dress.
All that said, I have to appreciate the extreme efficiency of a Japanese wedding. It tends to go by much faster and the cash gifts make it much simpler for everyone involved.
Beautiful wedding beautiful bride, and an awesome video! The bride was glowing in the second gown.
I like the idea of the cash gifts as it makes it so much easier than trying to think of a wedding gift!
Honestly I started tearing up for Eri’s speech 😭 I could hear her emotion while she was talking. Congratulations to both!!
Interesting! In Chinese culture, the wedding gift money needs to be even/divisible by 2, to signify that it is a pair. and not 'single'. The avoidance of '4' is the same though.
So happy to see Erina so happy and doing well. Congratulations to your family❤❤❤
