I found it interesting that you left the sky blank; quite fitting for this. I’ve always been shown to put the sky washes in first.

I there, thank you for this tutorial...you made it look simple....at first i was thinking my sketches were not detailed enough....but now i think it is my painting ...the painting itself is just flat..i have the colors in..but i do one pass on each section at least three times as you suggest. It doesn't pop like this one does. Also i have been doing either pencil or ink but not both....i see i need to start with pencil, then trace over that with a water proof ink, then move onto water color ...light to dark..at least 3 layers.....tyvm. Wish me luck lol.....Tom

Beautiful sketch but I must ask, Why don’t you like to sketch skies? That’s often my favorite part of sketching because I get to experiment with wet in wet and see the colors mix all by themselves. Plus it keys the values for the rest of the sketch.

I’m having a hard time with the purpose of urban sketching being having a story to tell when it’s just drawings of places and if you just list the location, that’s not telling much of a ‘story’. Can you explain this part more to me a little bit more? I’m new to all this so trying to understand it better and how this really differs from plein air painting.

Tuschefüllers und der Patronen dazu erfahren? Habe bisher mit Tuschestiften gezeichnet. Das waren aber alles Tuschen, die nicht wasserfeste waren.
Möchte gern nach deiner Anleitung hier arbeiten und solchen Tuschefüller mit der wasserfesten Tusche dazu anschaffen.

Hallo H.Fischer, bin zwar nicht Danny, benutze aber auch den ✒️ Und zwar ist es der Platinum Schreibtisch-Füllfederhalter, super fein. Allerdings ist er bei Amazon momentan nicht verfügbar. 🙍♀️
Man kann aber auch andere Füller benutzen, Lamy Safari z.b., mit Konverter und Tinte , sketchInk von Rohrer & Klingner. Die ist wasserfest und trocknet sehr schnell.

Habe die drei Dinge (Lamy, Konv., Tinte) jetzt bestellt. Werde erst einmal die schwarze Tinte ausprobieren. Da waren viele Farben angeboten.

I have trouble with values or contrast.. I lay a light wash and feel its to light so I darken it then end up with things mono tone...... I'm new to watercolor and art for that matter
I understand. Have you tried to wait until your first layer is dry? Otherwise your watercolor will mix up and end up being one color. You know? Try putting one layer first, then let it dry. For the other layers: try to mix new color shades! Just like in the video for the bushes. This will give your painting more depth! :) Let us know if this helped. Good luck 👍
