Red Kite, the undertaker hawk.✅ There’s an awful lot of hard work gone into your compost making. Well worth it.👍The beer traps make sense if you brew your own. Hmmmm🧐Bumper lettuce! How lovely.

Please waffle away,i love listening to you. I live in Henley and we have kites everywhere….they are magnificent but folk are causing issues by feeding them. Thanks for the chat and i always learn something. I read gardening books but watching you really seems to make the knowledge ‘take’into my menopausal foggy brain. So thank you

It has been a very challenging gardening year here in North Georgia, USA. Seedlings did horrible this year. I had to buy veggie starts this year. I have been having some luck with direct sown stuff. Cucumbers have been a no go this year. It is also unusually hot here and no rain. I have been having to do a lot of water. He ho, right. That is a gardeners life.

I think your plot looks wonderful Paul. We’ve just moved and have only got one raised bed filled so far. Dwarf French beans and salad 🤞🤞🤞. What a year!!!! We’ve gone from two full sized allotments to a small fully landscaped garden. Fitting in veggies everywhere that I can. I love your plot even though it might be tricky this year. I’ve got one - bought - tomato in the conservatory lol 😂 love your channel sending love. X

It's been a weird year of challenging weather and getting discouraged here in Iowa too. I was doing great with all the prep in March/April and now that stuff is starting to fail I'm really having to try to remember why I love gardening.

Every time you say "slugs and snails" I feel like yelling out "and puppy dogs' tails!"

I don’t know what I’d do without my plot, even though this year has been ‘challenging’! Us gardeners are certainly a determined lot’! 4 lots of beans! But if I go home with some spinach, some pot and a bunch of sweet peas, to fill the kitchen with fragrance I’m happy and feel good
( I buy very ‘cheap beer’ at £1.00 a bottle, slugs don’t seem to care!) it’s not the best!

Definitely a challenging year, although my brassicas and onions are loving this wet weather. I have been diligent in strimming and weeding, when I can, but also have resorted to organic slug pellets, for the first time in five years. I also actively hunt and kill any slugs or snails I find lurking (although not vegan friendly). So far I have harvested tender stem broccoli, beetroot, carrots and spring onions from my plot. I make yeast traps - dry yeast, sugar & warm water......the smell of the yeast is very attractive for slugs...

I use full sugar cheap cola in my slug traps & they love it & it does the same job as beer xx

Watched this after Sunday chat and thought you were pointing at the chem trail not the bird lol .. in Texas here and the asshoppers (grasshopper) are out in full force.. they come in yearly cycles here have had small ones last couple years where using nets retired little ones till plants get big then can remove but this year we have the huge ass ones and they eat everything so giving up on garden for this year… and focus on next year… they seem to be leaving tomatoes alone so 🤞

I've been watching your channel for several years, now, and I wonder if this year is a return to what most would consider "typical" English weather? I know you've had a good few really hot summers, and last year (?) was a drought year, and you were watering like crazy. I guess in the end, it doesn't matter, if it's hampering what you would like to achieve in your growing space. You are lucky with your lettuce. It's another crop I can't seem to grow well. Right up there with radish.

Definitely a channelling growing year, the lack of sun also puts me off wanting to play with plants and do stuff in the garden as well. I make a yeasty ‘mock beer brew’, few tbsp of flour, tbsp of sugar, sachet of yeast and lukewarm water in a measuring jug filled to top, give it a good stir and place into containers around the garden, especially in slug and snail hot spots, it works!.

Hiya Paul, always a pleasure to visit with you at allotment. Budlia ? Soo pretty nice that people want win win. Alliums also a lovely flower and why not keep for the pollinators? If able. I found a box of seeds in a metal tin they are approximately 4-5years old lm wondering if any good? Hmm. How are the frogs? Thankyou and see you soon. Southern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
