I usually dock 20% from the social/culturally impactful movies all these guilty media outlets feel the need to throw 10/10 ratings towards. RT is less trustworthy these days. It doesn’t even matter if the filmmaking/writing/cinematography/etc* is bogus or bland.. as long as you have *insert minority group* then all these people that don’t know a thing about movies start yelling, tweeting, ranting that they deserves Oscars. I think Black Panther was okay but Moonlight is way better. I never intend on watching Crazy Rich Asians but In The Mood For Love is one of the best films ever made. I’m all for representation and diversity in films, but great filmmaking is a must before throwing so much praise just for certain casting, it’s great but it doesn’t make up for the rest of the movie

The lighting made Aziz look sick, the jokes were funny but it ended in a very depressive note also there were momemts where Aziz would like whisper instead of talk normaly and it was weird, it's clear he was very affected by the events of last year, that special didn't feel as a comeback but more of a update. He still got it.

People need to realize that a high score for a movie at many film websites does not mean that the movie was excellent. A high score rating for a movie only means that a higher percent of the audience believes that the film was good or bad and the degree of enjoyment or displeasure is not measured. The score is based on a thumbs up or down, like on or off. Most films that score anywhere approaching 50% usually is a death knell warning that means there are points in a film that actually render audience viewers regretful that they watched the production.

God, Aziz hit the nail on the head. CRA only got popular because it had a mostly Asian cast, and for no other reason. The plot was boring, most of the characters were dull snobs, and the comedy was non-existent. I'm glad to see Asian representation on the big screen, but I wish that Asian representation came with a good movie.

Personally, I thought "Crazy Rich Asians" was overrated. Not because there were Asians in it, but because it was just too formulaic and cheesy. I'm not a fan of too many rom-coms. They typically get it wrong. There's only rare occasions in which they become classics which last the test of time. Crazy Rich Asians is not one of those. White people who try to earn "tolerance points" by falling in love with these films simply because they have minorities in the leads are pathetic.

I am of full Asian descent, and I think Crazy Rich Asians was one of the shittiest movies I've forced myself to watch. Outside of the so-called "representation" of Asians in the cast, the movie was basically a typical white people's movie about the rich family accepting the regular Joe into their family. Giving that movie credit and accolades just for PC sake is utter bullshit. There's nothing inherently relatable in it, unless you're a rich white person who can say "Oh, they do that in their culture too" when they actually don't.
