In this video, I'll show you how to draw circles using just a pen and a sheet of regular print paper. Drawing perfect circles freehand isn't easy, but with these 3 tips you will see an instant improvement in your circle drawings. In the end, it all comes down to practice. Love That you’re making this a weekly thing. I admire your work and I find your videos very helpful as I’m learning more about industrial design. What I would like to learn better is shading techniques on very angular products and to get better at drawing separation lines with shadows and highlights digitally or analog. Could you maybe make some sort of video where you look at other car-/designers sketches and explain different drawing styles?
When i look at drawings from different studios its always interesting to see that each designer has his own style of drawing and how different they can be.
Maybe how to develop your own style? Or explain how your personal style has changed over time and what influenced it the most.
Im just a noob in sketching, but i feel like the medium has the biggest influence on the style. For example, pencil, pen, water color or digital.
It would also be nice to see a video where you compare the final design sketches of a car with the actual final design when its built. Even though this not might be your area of expertise and more an engineers thing.

@@4strokebloke528, in my opinion the Vapid FMJ is also a car that needs to be redesigned.
@@lawnmower620 The Vapid FMJ looks weird because Rockstar Games tried to combine a Ford GT and an Aston Martin Vulcan. It might be a poor mix of cars but the end result is not poorly designed. I'd say they made the best of the situation.
Where as the Deveste Eight is just based on one car but has all of its proportions screwed up.
However, this is just my opinion of course.

How much pressure should you first put on the pen? (and this video did help, thanks :D)
I'm new to all of this. When you say to look down your pen, do you mean as though the pen is literally directly under you? Like, if you slowly raised the pen higher, it'll have the potential of poking out your eye. Or do you mean to have it off a few degrees? Just trying to understand what all to keep track of at the same time. Thanks.

The thing I'm struggling with the most right now is the how to apply a consistent amount of pressure when shading. When I shade in I usually have inconsistent levels of shading in just one area.

I do sketch cars for a really long time, but i've have 2 main problems that I always had issues with, the perspective (always had issues with 3/4 view ) and how to define wheel arches and space between....
It is funny how as I'm a graphic designer who spend 4 good years at School of Applied Arts and Crafts, learnt to do superrealistic sketches of any object over the years (and be a really good at it), but the cars always had the problem...
Not that I'm a designer by any means or even done art education for that matter! However I find cars such a complex object to draw in a 3/4 perspective especially the roof line section where the windscreen meets roof.

You should modernize the Hummer H3T, I know they stopped making Hummers in 2010. The last ever Hummer was an H3T, so that would be cool to redesign almost a decade later

BTW, does having a weird way to hold the pen (or an "Obama hand" as my mom calls it) affect the quality of the sketch? And is it a common case in the design industry cuz it is in the art world
So the fundamental lesson of this video is to “draw with your arm”. He goes out of his way to show that drawing with the wrist produces inferior line quality, introduces inaccuracies, etc.
And then he finishes the video, drawing with his wrist the entire time. 😄
