  • Anthony Albanese will become the first prime minister to travel to China in seven years, as his upcoming visit marks a warming in Australia-China relations. During their wide-ranging meeting, Albanese will seek to convince Xi Jinping to end the remaining tariffs on Australian imports and release imprisoned Australians.
    Many hope that the visit, coinciding with the 50-year anniversary of Gough Whitlam establishing diplomatic ties with China, will stabilise relations going forward.
