    These bulbs are one of the easiest and so stunning and they make so many babies! I have them coming out of my ears! I’ve never ever had them inside though. You’ve definitely inspired me to try potting them up for displays inside. Thanks for sharing.

    I think this variety is called “minerva “. It is a commonly seen and popular variety.

    Hi Tracy! Thanks for posting this update.. I tried reblooming amaryllis that I got last xmas (2020) and all I have is leaves.. now they are long beautiful leaves but with 3 in a terracotta planter its huge.. So now I will justtreat as a house plant and put outside once we get some warmer weather here in Toronto..

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Petra,
      I treat amaryllis as houseplants. If I want them to bloom by mid Dec, I usually move the pots into a cool dark place in my basement around labour day. After a few weeks the leaves will wilt and I cut everything back about 1” above the soil. By November the leaves should start to come back up and I either put them under grow lights or closer to a bright window…and they usually start to bloom around Christmas - New Years. All the best.

    I have the exact same bulbs, got them at Costco last year. Did everything you said, they never bloomed. I am a avid gardener and belong to a group, they stated they will not rebloom. And i can concur.

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  Před 2 lety

      Thank you Dorothy for letting us know.
      Makes me wonder if the bulbs were treated with some root inhibitors to prevent the roots from forming in order to direct all the energy on bloom development.
      It’s my first ever experience with waxed amaryllis bulbs.
      I have them in soil right now and I will treat them the same as my other amaryllis and If they don’t bloom then we’ll know reason why.

    • @dorothyleeuw8774
      @dorothyleeuw8774 Před 2 lety +1

      They will get leaves but no flowers…they did get roots.

      Thanks 🙏 again Dorothy. It will be interesting to find out why the bulbs get roots & leaves but cannot be forced to form blooms. I’m most definitely piqued by this phenomenon. 🧐

    Hello tracy, I have been watching your videos ,and following you since last year, you have a beautiful house,I love your indoor plants too, please tell me ,how are you taking care of your orchids, what kind of fertilizer your using, and how you put two of them in the small container, and they look so stunning and lots of blooms ,because I have 12 of them, I do use fertilizer and taking care of them for long time,but three of them only bloom every year once, i wonder how do you get that many spikes and lots of blooms,if you do the video I really appreciate you, waiting for your spring videos too, thank you again,. 😊

    Hi Tracy how are you ,it’s nice to see you back.I sent you a text I think in 2021,Maxine from Canada..I hope you will not be disappointed but I have a different question,I think these flowers are the most beautiful flowers ever but I would never know what to do... but you can make anything look easy...My question is about hydrangeas we have had quite a lot of snow this year but now it’s been gone for a couple weeks..and was wondering if I could cut some shoots they seem to have quite a few buds.if I did want to propagate them would I put them outside..please advise on how to do it ..I don’t really know the difference between soft wood and hard wood..all the best looking forward to seeing you

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  Před 2 lety

      Hi Maxine,
      You can just wait until the leaf buds are a little more developed…near middle-end of March or in early April to propagate the stem cuttings.
      Arborescent hydrangeas like Annabelle and Incrediballe hydrangeas root the easiest - cut the stems off and put them into potting soil. Place the pots in a shady spot and make sure the soil stays moist and not dry out.
      The method above also works for Macrophylla and panicle hydrangeas but the success rate is not 100%.
      To make sure they root, I dip Panicle hydrangeas cuttings in a little rooting hormone then plant them into potting soil. Hope that makes some sense. Perhaps I can share some tips about this when I prune them later in the spring? I have some that were done this way last spring to show you too. All the best.

    Tracy, I haven't seen an indoor potting soil that is designed to be less prone to fungus gnats*, until now. Does the * mean that this mix contains BT? I'm just curious as to what the wording on the bag says. I will definitely have to watch for it this spring. I hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy! ~Margie

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Margie,
      “Miracle-Gro® Indoor Potting Mix 0.25-0.13-0.19 not only lets you grow amazing indoor houseplants, it’s free from compost or bark so it’s less prone to gnats*. Plus, it contains coconut coir so it holds onto and releases water when plants need it. Includes perlite, too, to help with drainage and improve air space. Ideal for a wide variety of container plants, this mix feeds for up to 6 months. Simply choose your container, add this mix, plant, then water. Use when potting or repotting indoor container plants”
      The info was pasted from Miracle Grow website. No BT.
      Take care Margie. 💚💚💚

    You might actually end up rotting the bulbs by removing the outer papery layer.

    • @TracysHomeGarden
      @TracysHomeGarden  Před 2 lety +1

      You may be right about that. The bulbs usually have a number of papery layers so peeling off a few should still be a okay; however, these bulbs didn’t seem to have as many papery layers as usual. If I had known that I may not have done so. Now, I will have to keep watering at a minimal so they don’t rot. Thanks SR. 🙏
