    I agree with most of what you are saying to be honest
    I do believe and have since Edwards came back, that we are reorganising the club. Just as you said we will have a head coach. We will have players and a particular "ethos". If the Manager/Head coach fails, then they seek another person who fits the style they want.
    Look at the old way of doing things. You bring in a manager and they want to change players to fit their style. Thats fine. But the problem is if you are Chelsea, you spend a billion quid only for a manager to fail. You sack the manager and now you have to get rid of all of these players and bring in more players. Its costly and means that you have "transition" years between managers. So while the club is "transitioning" our more senior players are wasting their careers. This can lead to more senior players not wanting to stick around.
    Now jump back to the "new style new structure" that I mentioned. We sign a manager/head coach who could be anyone. IF they work out, thats class. If they dont work out, we sign a new manager/head coach. BUT they dont have to "rebuild" or sign brand new players to fit their style.
    So while "Franchising" the club doesnt sound great, it can save us from "transition" periods. Look at the people we targeted. Alonso is believed to be a head coach, doesnt really bother with the background stuff or structure stuff. While Amorim likes the final say he is again a "head coach". BUT look at the thing that defines them. While they have limited experience, they do have experience in coming into struggling clubs and getting almost "over night" results.
    I know NOTHING about Slot. But I did see some clips of his football style which does kinda look exciting to be honest. Pass and move the Liverpool groove.......
    My two cents is that this new "style" or "structure" is a good thing.

    My one worry with the appointments behind the scenes, etc is that we are picking people who haven't been 'proven'. The fact of the matter is we are LFC we are not a proving ground, we should be getting the best people possible. IF we do get Slot I will support him, but I don't believe for a second he was the favourite, it was Alonso (then he said no), then Amorim (and we are playing games with him) and then Slot I suspect if Amorim falls through

  • @cyfmu
    @cyfmu Před měsícem +2

    Our very good friend DKB got this also right as François Plateau reported that data shows that Rúben Amorim’s Sporting CP aligns more closely with Klopp’s Liverpool in key metrics than Arne Slot’s Feyenoord. Liverpool acknowledges this but fears that Amorim might demand greater influence over transfer dealings compared to Slot. Slot is characterized as a coach who focuses on coaching the team he has available, while Amorim is seen as a manager who might want more say in transfer activities. Hughes and Edwards are expected to retain more control over transfers in Liverpool’s new setup.

One thing I do respectfully disagree with u though is that this isn’t a sign of bad things to come. I think it’s inevitable we won’t even be top 4 next year, this manager will have no pull for new players and won’t inspire any existing players. Might be playing devil’s advocate here, but I actually like the idea of a head coach being able to focus their thoughts on the football. Jurgen has mentioned a few times now that it’s aspects of the job outside of the coaching that he’s grown tired of. If you wanted to give the owners some benefit of doubt, you could suggest maybe they regret overworking Jurgen and want to allow the next man to focus his attention more on the game. Love the work Dunc, appreciated your steadying of the ship yesterday after everyone’s heads fell off the day before. Earned yourself a pint 👍

    That's bit harsh calling Slot a yes man, before setting foot in the club. A head coach job is to deliver on the pitch than off it, something we have all complained on here doing our chats on live streams about Klopp & Lijners in past 12/18 months now with all this power they have than worrying about doing their own jobs in training ground. Plus before Klopp & Lijners got this power, we were best club on & off pitch at that time. So I'm excited for future with us potentially Slot as head coach and Hughes, Edwards & co deliver off it. Anyway to anyone reading this crying about we didn't get Amorim ask yourself this question did you even knew Ruben Amorim a month & half ago and knew all about his management skills be honest with yourself, because I didn't. My thing is our drop in form coincides with Edwards announcement at the club. Something tells me that senior players probably found out that there wont be any contract renewals hence they are playing like they dont care anymore. Also people need to understand how Yankee PR works but it seems like most LFC just dont get it. When FSG doesnt agree to player/manager terms, they then pay journalists to put out negative stories regarding said players/managers, resulting in fans distancing themselves from said players/managers. This has happened time and time again over their tenure at the club eg. Torres, Mascherano, Gini, Mane etc and now again with Amorin. LFC supporters need to catch a wake up and stop being brainwashed by their tactics.

    Slot was Edwards preferred target and AC Milan, Barcelona, Spurs and Chelsea have all tried to sign and have looked at Slot, he is very good with academy players and plays like Klopp. Slot also calls players out and is ruthless when it comes to getting rid of players which suits Edwards style as well.

    Sounds like they definitely want someone that won't go against the grain. If it is Slot and it is that kind of structure I'll respect him for taking on the challenges that will come to him. Not a fan of that kind of set up but then again Klopp basically got told he was wrong and we're buying salah and you'll be happy. Seen it work and seen it be disastrous what I don't want to see is like Rogers "is that a transfer committee signing or a Rogers signing" " he's not playing he's obviously a committee signing" "he's awful but he's playing every week so must be a rogers signing" did my fucking head in

    I only came see football, but a wise LFC board director have always an example about the experience of bringing a Dutch coach from his neighbor Man United unless the board director of the club assume that LFC is not going to win the Premier League during more 5 years, and fighting only with being in the top 5 and go to the group phases of Champions League, and that's all, perhaps some FA cup in the middle, but if this is the option of the board director football manager, that guy Edwards must say that directly to the fans about LFC not fighting for win the Premier League during the time this coach needs to adapt and get experience, so is a very risky solution for a club habit to win titles.
    In my opinion in this case the Edwards ego could afect badly the major sport objectives of the club.
    In that option if I was a Liverpool fan I will give a shit if that guy Edwards have full control of the football department or not, as a fan of a top club I expected always that the club fight for titles if the coach have more power or not is not relevant.
    So if this news is true about this Dutch coach Im sorry you friend but LFC is not able to do the job that is expected, winning titles.
    In my experience to see many years of football, generally with mediums and small teams the coaches don't have power to management the team, in bigger team that fighting always for titles, the coach have liberty to management, there two exceptions, Bayern Munich but they don't have much competence in Bundesleague so they don't need to give much power to the coach, and the other exception is the FC Barcelona, nothing to to about football but with politics, this team always was a symbol of the independence of Catalunya and of course it was always a politc instrument and that's why the club must control all and don't give much power to the coach.
    I think LFC is not an exception so.

    We were all happy when Edwards came back, but the idea we'd appoint a manager with a big ego and given full control, was never going to happen. I do wonder if Klopp gaining more power didn't do his energy levels and mental health any good either. The idea of one man carrying a club as big as Liverpool on his shoulders really isn't viable anymore. Just look how it affected Houllier, Rafa and now Jurgen.

  • @Scott_grieve
    @Scott_grieve Před měsícem +1

    Imo it’s how it should be. Manager should be a coach not an all encompassing role. It’s why klopp is so burnt out. They need to be left to tactics. Of course they should have final say but all the scouting and analysing of players should be down to the sporting director and staff.
    A lot of elite managers have horrid talent ID and would waste money.
    Needs to be a long term vision, manager to the very top need to share that if we want success.
    Klopp is world class, but since we won the title we’ve been largely poor due to loyalty to dross by giving out contracts to hendo and Milner. We need to make sure that doesn’t happen again. All my opinion of course.

    • @Scott_grieve
      @Scott_grieve Před měsícem

      To add to this, there needs to be a structure so a manager is cherry on top. An elite structure and good manager is better than poor/average structure and world class manager. We need it so we can continue to have success with new managers
