    This logic works everywhere but Fl. These bass don't give two F's what you toss in front of them, just toss it in front of them

      December to February I always toss a good old Black Blue swim jig with a black blue craw trailer, I caught my 8LB pb

    I actually go the other way. Full skirted, 1 to 1.5 oz jig with a 4' or 5" trailer as the water drops from 45 down to a frozen surface. Sure, I use smaller stuff, too. But the big jig usually catches the pig of the day.

      I like the idea of fishing both extremes during the winter. Huge profile jig or ultra finesse tiny jig. Sometimes all it takes is something different.

      Up here in Maryland when this water drops what are the temperature drops for a week like it did up here in the last month. The fish got scared and retreat to the back almost 72 days early.😮 our weather changes too much up here so for us we do keep a big one tied on for us. We only need 3/4 most of the reservoirs are only 30 feet deep., and most of the fish and tournaments are one and caught on Finesse presentations this year. The biggest bag was 32 pounds., and the agent E, by Edwin, Evers and Berkeley, has won two of the tournaments and biggest fish two months running now we have two more tournaments and then the top three in every tournament has a big hitters two days event on Prettyboy in Reservoir’s lake in Prettyboy, Maryland, but I got on my buddies in Florida in. I catch some big darn peacock bass big bash.

      @@kennyg3192 I’m in Maryland too but don’t have a boat. I used to do pretty good on the Potomac down around the Wilson bridge and a couple other places. I would catch 3 pounders like nothing and my pb there was over 6. That was 30 years ago and I can’t get around like that anymore. The lake up here at Cunningham Falls has some big ones in the 8lb range and possibly a little bigger. They feed on the trout that are stocked there every year and get big. A 5-6” swim bait in rainbow trout colors can be effective at times.

    Cut off most of those weedless strands and improve hookups. I also take the double hooks out of floating frogs and put one wire weedless hook down. Hookups x 3.

  • @dannyyork1142
    @dannyyork1142 Před 9 měsíci

    They don't have too, but I bet if u throw a big craw dad, or smaller 1, which one would he eat? So if I got at dinner table. .. a t-bone steak, or a skimpy pork chop, I'm eating t bone. Crawl are full of protein, bass might not know that much, but they know a big craw will feel them up. Then on other hand I might eat both!!!!! Steak 1st though. But real thing is, size that's in them rocks. This comes from bank fishing and wadding through creeks for 50 plus years. Pay attention to this .... alot times the size of craw sometimes are clise to same size, like say spring when they where hatched in or on a set rocks. Not saying you won't zee a big one, but alot times craws are close to same size. Keep alert, keep your eyes open.

    I was always told to go bigger in winter because they move less and don’t want to do a bunch of hunting for small meals. Interesting to hear the opposite, it makes sense.

  • @FishingParrot
    @FishingParrot Před rokem +1

    It's exactly the opposite. They eat big and less during winter time like snakes. Chasing small baitfish would cost too much energy.

    • @S.R.Backwoods1
      @S.R.Backwoods1 Před 11 měsíci

      They don’t eat as much or chase bait much, but if a burst bug black and blue jig with a small craw trailer hops or inches in front of a bass, or falls or swims in front of its face, that bass will take advantage of the opportunity for an easy meal. They are slower and more opportunistic the colder the water gets. In addition, as their metabolism slows the colder the water gets, bass require less food.

    I used to,think I had to downsize jigs in the winter, until I found out people slow drank Huddlestons on the bottom during cold months. A jig isn’t anything compared to a hud.

    • @andrewboyce7268
      @andrewboyce7268 Před rokem

      I assume its always in the south or warmer states. Hard to make a lot of fishing content with ice on the water for 2 or 3 months.

    • @sotaboy8040
      @sotaboy8040 Před rokem

      @@andrewboyce7268 it's easy to target species through the ice. Hell, I've gone after channel cats through the ice. But as far as bad go it doesn't matter the size of bait. You can catch them on each worms or 10" shiners. Just gotta put it in front of them how they want it.
