- One of the best games of StarCraft 2 this year. Cure vs Classic from Gamers8. Both pro gamers try to end this SC2 match as quickly as possible by being in the opponents face the entire time, but neither of them gets the job done in the early game. A chaotic game with multiple base races ensues.

Wow what an incredible game. It cannot be understated how well Classic defended those constant mine drops. Then the perfect spot and defense at 17:54 is amazing.

Cure is on fire lately. Funny how both players - Cure and Classic - did not qualified directly for the world championship at Katowice only 6 month ago (!!) but now both (especially cure) are looking like top 5 material! (to be clear, both made it to the round of 36 event at Katowice and from there to the main event).
Cure is like Zest. He can go absolute beast mode, or absolute trash mode. Inconsistency is his huge issue. I think his peak is a bit higher than peak Maru, but Cure's lows are deep gutter trash.
Classic is the surprising one. He hasn't really shined in years.
Both of them, going down to 4 scv vs 4 probes at 22:19 is instane. What a great match!

I think Cure is researching the armor because he is making a lot of maroders
Classic threw hard by abandoning the last nexus. He knew he was up against a much faster army with much higher building kill potential and could have easily guessed his opponent was out or low on command centers.
Lowko should do a review of any game labeled "Game of the Year" at year's end and crown the true winner of that category.

If i had a dollar everytime i saw a “Game of the year” video from Lowko in 2023 id probably have 9 dollars.
Man, that was a little frustrating to watch at 20:00. If Classic had sacrificed his army there he probably could have taken out the last CC, and Cure wouldn't have had any minerals to build a new one.. or at least he could've killed all the rest of the SCVs. I think he could have re-spawned enough units to defend against whatever remained of Cure's army afterward by the time Cure's army could have made it back across the map somewhere. That could've been game over for Cure right there... 38 minerals isn't enough for even a single marine.

Every time I watch a PvT Match I think to myself "Why doesn't protoss ever just get a stargate and have a squad of like 5-6 phoenixes to shut down drop play?".

I know micro is very difficult. But why do the Terran players seem to NEVER manually target their siege tanks? So much collateral damage is done by siege tanks shooting zealots, and it's so sad to see when there's a clump of stalkers ripe for the shelling.

On another note, I suggest you do an "inverted" cast. :3 (As an April's fools joke or something.) Where you take your key phrases and say the opposite when it's appropriate. For example:
Instead of saying "That's nothing to write home about." commenting "That's something he will write home about." when e.g. a micro went really well.
"He is crossing his teeth* and dotting his eyes*." devolves to "missed rounding his Os and capping his Rs" or something. XD
"He's smelling blood in the water." -> "He's smelling water in the blood." when his opponent's attack is weaker than it seemed.
"Creating as much chaos as possible." -> "Sorting as much out as possible." for beautiful sim city?
* I know it's t-s and i-s, just the first time, I heard it I was like "ok, he's gonna say 'crossing his fingers'." and got really confused how you would cross your teeth. xD

The disruptor feels to me like some really expensive minigame of bowling, built into SC2. Instead of messing with the mommaship and the Cyclops, they really should rethink that bowling minigame.
yeah the bowling minigame is only thing that keeps protoss in game
Sc2 is full of bad unit designs. Queens, ghosts, disruptors, widow mines, mothership
Lowko I have been curious, why do Protoss players proxy a gateway when they already have warp gate researched? Since it can warp in anywhere there is a power field why not just make the gateway in the main base instead?
bc units warp faster in super power fields (i.e either next to nexus or gateway)

@@superhawk6403it was changed in early LotV so a lot of people missed it. It use to be 5 secs in any power field before then, now it's 5 near a gateway or nexus and 16 otherwise

Cure didn't prioritize the Infantry Armor upgrade a second time. The first time was a mistake, the second time he had both researching (on separate eBays), so the +2 armor was still finishing after Infantry Weapons finished.
Should do a game of the month, and after 12 months, you do all the game highlights and have people vote on the best

Cure didn't choose the armoe upgrade, it was straight up a mistake. He had two engi bays and for a while had armor 1 done and waited for the armory to finish to begin researching more upgrades. He definitely thougjt he had attack 1 done at that point.
Way too many risky decisions by classic, could have easily won if he didn't abandon the bottom Nexus.

I, for one, appreciate it when you remind us to like the videos! It's easy to forget, but this was an absolute banger.
Am I the only one that thinks the fact that a Terran can wait a full 6 minutes to take their natural and still have an equal supply with a 3 base opponent is dumb? How is it that you can keep a contain for that long and not be well ahead of the enemy?

Crazy how powerful novas are. If micro is not nearly perfect, they can wipe out entire armies with ease.
I think it's fair. protoss does not have enough army fire power. They can only rely on nova and storm.
@@kristoradion Pound for pound, Toss has the most deadly death ball, ground or air. Its the most expensive, but without question the most powerful.

This game just highlights all the persistent problems with Terran for me. MULES are just too stupid. Base races always go Terran because they can free map-wide vision and free mining.
They can fly their bases or turn them into powerful static defense, they can repair them, they can get free eco boost for no supply cost AND have instant map vision anywhere. Zerg gets near total map vision that makes its already fast army even more maneuverable and, in return, Protoss caaannn... warp in overcosted Gateway units, get out a Probe 50% quicker every once in a while (as long as they don't want to be able to recall to defend their base from a drop, since God knows their army won't get back in time to save it otherwise) and have to rely on low HP structures to power all of their buildings.

Cure never tries to save his workers even though he can quite bad, and NEVER sets up good protection on his bases so really he loses a lot of games that way
yeah Like I swear he could have slapped one cannon on every base and kept so much mining time, or even just one observer to float around and follow the widow mines.
@@baron2062 yes simple stuff i mean he is a lot better than us and if u watch sommhis other games real amazing but it frustrates the hell out of me when a terran plays a zerg, as an example, then leave the third base open for a ling backstab while flying or attacking...just doesnt make any sense

So Terran with plus 1 weapon and plus 2 armor wins against protoss with plus 3 weapon and plus 2 armor and they had the same amount of army supplies. Terrans are very balanced indeed.
Classic at 23:40 with a big blunder, chasing an army in a big circle, leaving his army completely out of position to defend his new nexus and the rest of his base. He really, really, should not have done that. No point in hunting an army down when your opponent still has an orbital command and SCVs and you only have one producing nexus and like 5 probes (and no minerals to make another one).

Had a really long break from sc2 Played in hots can someone explain why the proxy gate from the Toss? Pylon should be enough to warp in units as far i can remember?
The pylon alone is technically all that's needed to warp in units, but takes a long time. The warp gate reduces the warp in time by quite a large margin.

Protoss up one base all game, up +1/+1 on upgrades, still loses to terran army. Disruptors are too gimicky, Colossi only deals bonus damage to Marines, gateway units lose to mass bio, zealot drops don't do nearly as much as Widow mine drops, can't beat terran at range battles, can't beat terran at base race, all air units inferior to terran air units (phoenix/VR/carrier vs Vikings/Battlecruisers), list goes on and on. Protoss needs help.
