Here's a look at the Zerg of StarCraft 2. you'll see both new and old Zerg units. the Zerg have got even more powerful and devistating. I had more StarCraft 2 Alpha and Beta videos but Blizzard/CZcams made me take it down. Enjoy this while its still up.

Corruptors looked insane back then. The team had a lot of cool ambitious ideas, but these would've been hell for the multiplayer balance if they made it through to the final game.
Still, I wish that turning-enemy-air-units-into-your-own-turrets ability returned for the Heart of the Swarm campaign.

I kinda miss how a lot of units were notably bigger than marines and lings back than,like the thor,ultralisk and queen.

I fell in love with Starcraft again after many years away. Currently in the Protoss campaign in SC1. After the expansion, I will play Starcraft 2 for the first time. I hope it's as cool as it looks.
sc2s gameplay is good, the story is okay, the zerg campaign is pretty poorly written, i still enjoy playing it. i heard a rumor that they are gonna remake the sc1 and brood war campaign in sc2 but that has yet to happen.

Yeah, the Zerg buildings in general had a really nice aesthetic back then. Maybe a bit more fantastical than gritty sci-fi, but still.

I remember following the development of the game. If I remember correctly...
There was a change a bit after this that slimmed down a lot of zerg (ex infestor, blings)
Thors used to be able to revive themselves for a price
The mothership vortex used to kill everything that was sucked into it. It also was more expensive, had stronger attacks and had al arge beam that fired down from the underside.
Lurkers were scrapped because Blizzard thought they were too one-sided
Queens used to hav sh*ttons of hp, limit to one at a time, strong melee attacks.
In this video it looks like Queens still had the "Super Queen" morph. They got bigger, got more HP, and got Deep Tunneling (Teleport anywhere there is Creep) as well as another new ability that let them make any Zerg building into a temporary defense.
It's sad to know that so much work that the developers put into the game. We're all deleted. Like today Starcraft has almost less than half the mechanics it had because of balance changes.
But more than triple the fun!
Creep tumors doubled as detectors, and they were just an eye...So cute! Just watch it blink and look around.

@@mmmmallqui2176 That's one hell of a rumor. Given both Microsoft and Blizzard's states, my guess is this got scrapped. Maybe Microsoft is going to be ambitious and go for it. Make it multi platform to build up excitement. I'll be on the look out for more info on it.
Queens should be able to do that burrow thing but not to anywhere on creep but maybe a recall type thing to a hatchery. One can hope.

I don't understand. the quality of the graphic before it came out is way better than playing star craft today. I completely forget why.

i get the same they used to look better it isnt about the sharpness of the image its about how good it looks
I think back then they were showing off their particle and glow technology more. Furthermore, the lower-poly models and textures probably would've given the impression of more grit or something like that. Lastly, the design philosophy of the models changed somewhat in later development.
In my opinion I don't think the alpha or beta versions of the game look better than what we have now, because some of the models were noticeably low-poly and there are more details and extra stuff now, especially after Heart of the Swarm. But the graphics still had a nice charm back then, and I can see why people think it looked better.
One aspect of the graphics now that bothers me is how brown the Zerg can be. One example is the Ultralisk - in the video we can see that their kaiser blades are grey, but in the final release they are another shade of brown. I think they looked more blade-like and...more interesting...when they were grey.
They usually have higher quality in demos, but need to throttle them down for production - unless they want to limit their player base to only users who have top-end PCs, which cuts down on sales.
Graphics just have a more realistic style in that alpha version. Blizz at some point decided to put in cartoony graphics in all their games, probably to make them less serious and as such more appealing to a wider audience. Same happened to d3 and to some extent also to WoW

Corruptors used to take over enemy ships and turn them into immobilized cannon tower. I wish that idea stayed.
all units for zerg looked awesome the only thing that looked weird was the baneling, thats the only unit that needed changing.

Its pretty nice to see those zerglings run at the begining of the video, but in an actual game they would all be just in a big ball and it would never look this awesome.
because of all those underground and infection abillities the zerg is the most versatile race imo...

Yeah, these Zerg definitely got an upgrade. Kinda awesome. I'm sure they have their weaknesses as Starcraft is so wonderful in creating some sort of equality (like Zerg usually have weakest defenses, one way or another). This game is gonna be pretty epic and I am most excited for the User Map Settings.. They were the best on Starcraft and I can only imagine the amazing creations some people are gonna make

@MagicShadow9 Infestors. Sadly they don't infect buildings anymore and instead, overseers (upgrade from overlord) create infected marines
@EmperorKarino tahts soooo true even though protoss is suppose to be the strongest because its slowest the terran is stronger and the zerg is suppose to be the weakest but the fastest :P
@chaosrave These units are still in the game. their in the campain, and in all probablility, we will get to play these units in the expansions. but ya, i agree - they took out all the best units and animations. these skins look way cooler then the current ones

those little red flyer guys would certainly be a frustrating issue in battle. seeing how they infest the other flying vehicles.

So they can burrow and infiltrate base and infest structures to turn units against each other :O ! BEAUTIFUL !
unfortunately the infestors in StarCraft 2 are not as good as the ones in this trailer.

from waht ive seen, it looks like the kinda dumbed the game down a bit, like.. they made it so that there isnt as much micro its just unit v unit combat..
not even the combined terran-protoss forces can stop the zerg Swarm!

@EmperorKarino its funny you say that b/c it seems all these vids on YT I've seen are of Protoss winning, maybe its just the vids I've seen of noobs playing against good Protoss but I thought it looked like Protoss was strongest. But in reality its the player not the race, anyone can win with anything just depends on the skill.
sure, but protoss have a lot more going for them than the other races. Its not a big secret that Blizzard prefers the Orcs in Warcraft, and the Protoss in Starcraft.
OH NO....are Terran and Protoss able to defend themself against Zerg or Zerg will conquer Terran and Protoss? It is up to you all, StarCraft players~!!! >=)

this is starcraft 2, it is free to play , and you can find it on the battlenet app by blizzard entertainment, a quick google search should take you were to go.
I know this game because i'm rank master now but i don't see these thing in the game

Stormgate is being made from scratch. Many things in StarCraft have been around since the first StarCraft. Visuals, mechanics, atmosphere. And all of this was being done by a fairly rich company. And with a fairly rich background of StarCraft itself as a product
I remember what the StarCraft alpha looked like, and it looked much worse than this presentation. The mechanical skeleton of the strategy is done, and done quite well. I am ready to give it time for development. One of the principles of testing is that the sooner it starts, the cheaper it is to rework the product.

@@DivineCatStoriesWhile I am not a Stormgate hater and I do see some good in the game, I highly doubt it will ever be able to reach the level of SC1/SC2 to be considered a real succesor. From the characters, to the artstyle to the mission designs, Stormgate feels thoroughly so-so ish. And speaking of graphics, i doubt those will change much. Even SC2, whose development started in 2005, was graphically quite close to the final game by late 2007.
Also SC2 was a big budget game, but so is Stormgate. Stormgate had a budget of $40 million, which is wayyy above indie-level budget.

Zerg has no big air unit in 2, corruptors should have worked like that in the final version of 2. they move and attack so slow, terran and protoss have the advantage when it comes to air.
Bitch please, pro BroodWar games were about 30 to 50 minits long, now Starcraft 2 pro games barely reach 16 minutes!

Im a SC 2 Player, and most of my games end with me and my enemy at 160+ MINIUM. Only If one of us makes a mistake the fight ends quickly, but only sometimes, most of the time I have some serious epic battles.

the graphics in the game look nothing like this! I really like how big banelings were and the queen..The queen was pretty badass now she sucks...also the queen could burrow and pop out into another base!!? The zerg could infest entire terran barracks and build infested terrans...corrupters could infest air units and make tehm fight against each other..zerg need more cool abilities like these.. wow these are some cool features they left out the actual game...
