Netflix Film Tips - ABBA, Agnetha & Waterloo

- This weekend, I watched a fascinating film on Netflix, and it also reminded me again, just how many Swedish classical films there are on Netflix, from which many have slight connections to ABBA. So in today’s video, there will be film tips for you to discover.

Of course, there are the two films from 1994, both Austrailian. Muriel's Wedding and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Both films are strong in the ABBA music department and are classics!
Abba the most iconic band ever❤
Agnetha has always been my favourite member of ABBA. Maybe it's not right to say it, as all four are awsome, but I've said it. To me, Angetha stands out for her voice, her style, her incredible solo career and in my opinion one of the best female pop vocalists spanning the past 60 years.
u fancy her and u want to defend her 'cos of the emotional hell she has been through. Nobody should underrate A's contribution to Abba plus her outstanding solo career pre and post Abba.
Sehe ich genauso. Agnetha sang 1967-1968 deutsche Lieder in der BRD.
Anschließend Start ihrer schwedischen Karriere. Dann kam Abba und danach hat Agnetha wieder wunderschöne Songs aufgenommen.
Ich kann wirklich sagen, das Agnetha mich mit ihrer Stimme berührt und das ist heute noch so.
Agnetha ist ein Geschenk, talentiert und Grandios.
Anything related to Agnetha im in she is the main reason I love ABBA
I have Under Solen, its a fantastic film! As you say, the scenery is stunning. A good story, and so lovely to see Linda, who is a brilliant actress
The logo is from the Swedish film company Svensk Filmindustri, they have a long history. Äppelkriget (The Apple War) is one of Hasse Alfredson and Tage Danielssons many films, all of them.worth to check out if possible. Two of our greatest heros in comedy that made films, TV, radio, revues, wrote books and so on. A big part of the Sweden that was when ABBA was active (those first years, long before Voyage that is, as one now can add). ABBA and Hasseåtage feels like the essense of the Swedish 70s. The top! ❤
Yes, and Hasse Alfredson directed P&B. Some beautiful behind-the-scenes photos are out there with Agnetha and him arm in arm.
@@bobbysbrother137 He was a lovely man! Yes, they did direct orher movies too, Tage Danielsson directed Astrid Lindgrens Ronja Rövardotter shortly before he sadly died much too soon (where one of B&B's favourites, Tommy Körberg plays a part and sings). (Lasse Hallström directed her Alla vi barn i Bullerbyn about a year later.) We are so blessed to have (had) all of these wonderful and talented people, who also connect in one way or another. So glad you put the spotlight on all of it! I love Äppelkriget! 🍎

I am astounded. The knowledge you have on ABBA. The only one I know is RASKENSTAM by Agentha. I haven't seen it fully only clips. But not only you include that but others including Bjorn and Agentha's Daughter film of which I also didn't know about. I don't know how you do it ! You are great. Anthony UK.
Hi, I may have missed it if you mentioned it before but Netflix in North America has a documentary series called “This is Pop”. There are a number of topics included with one episode being devoted to the dominance of Swedish producers and songwriters. It features Benny discussing the beginning of Sweden’s ventures into international music markets and how its influence continues to the present day. It is charming and funny as well as informative. The whole series is a definite must see for music fans.
Is Max Martin in it?
The episode is called Stockholm Syndrome, and they do talk about Max Martin. Besides Benny , they talk to Ludwig Goransson, Shellback, Ulf Ekberg from Ace of Base, and a number of others. I was totally unaware of the role of Denniz Pop and Max Martin played in developing the sound of the artists from around the world

Muriel's wedding 💍 is a classic movie with a girl who is a big Abba fan and wants a big white wedding like princess Diana. Princess Diana was a big Abba fan
Hi Bobby.. Another top notch piece of work. Under Solen reminds me of something I discovered only last night on Netflix: the Norwegian Midsummer Night which was released in April. It is just so Scandinavian. You Scandinavians have so much style and a wonderful way of living. The beautiful colours of the houses, flowers in your hair.. I recommend this mini drama series. and now i need to find a wooden cabin near a lake somewhere in June.

Nice topic! My recommendation would be the Swedish horror film 'Let the Right One In' (Låt den rätte komma in), which features Agnetha's song Försonade. Cheers!

Abba is a huge influence on a lot of things with their classic lyrics and also with the lyrics and music they evoke.

Respecto al film "Raskenstam" he visto segmentos en el canal de CZcams. Lamentablemente no he podido visualizar el film en su totalidad. Resultará fantástico si Netflix lo incorpora en su plataforma. I would love to hear a James Bond theme song composed and sung with ABBA, I know they were asked to do it one day but it was at a time they were not ready to reunite.

Here is a film tip -----------> "Just The Way You Are" (1984). It features an ABBA song, "Voulez Vous", and a Frida solo song, "I Know There's Something Going On".
He's doesn't seem to be particularly interested in Frida, sadly.

Thanks for the film tip, that definitely sounds super cool. I was surprised once when I watched the US series “Scream Queens” (season 1, I think episode 1), with Emma Roberts and Jamie Lee Curtis, and suddenly Frida’s song “I Know There’s Something Going On” kicked in.

Not ABBA related, but this surreal film has music that is composed by Benny Andersson. There was no time to use an orchestra so Benny had to quickly make the music on his Synclavier synth… Just beware that this is not an "ordinary" film, it has static scenes etc. and does not resemble to the traditional movie making.

I love the films of Roy Andersson, and certainly Benny's music in it.
@@bobbysbrother137 I meant including ABBA music in this case. But 1/4 of ABBA is outstanding enough of course... A very "special", but still superb movie!
