    🔎 About socials:
    If I tag socials, then this should be done for ALL players (without a single exception), and not just for one person. Socials of some players can not be found (players with default nicknames, some Asian players, etc). I am convinced that it's extremely dishonest to tag contacts of few people and not to tag all the rest, so there will be no social links in description.
    But I respect the players whose matches I post. Therefore, if you are sure that videos presented "as is" are not acceptable, I will stop posting content with your participation and remove the ones posted earlier.
    If you want to tag socials by yourself, feel free to post usernames in comment section (CZcams may remove links).

      I agree with you. The commenters who say, "Asuka has no execution" either have not touched the character, or play at the lower levels (floor 7-10) - because people only believed that within the first week-month of the character's release; on the same note, people also thought this character was bad - then Gobou shocked the world and showed us that Asuka is not only a high execution character (APM is a form of execution, and Gobou's APM are insane compared to other Asuka players), but that he is also top tier. Also, for the angry posters out there, Onet *was* playing bad in this set like I had assumed - because they played Gobou during his stream this afternoon (in Japan Standard Time), played way better than in these match(es), and the score was 2:1 - Onet. Even good players have bad days, but Gobou being the better player exploited that even more during this video.

    Based on the comments I've read on various videos on this channel, one can deduce that the people in the comment section display the following behaviors:
    1. When it is a character they do not play or like: "X character is so cheap/broken/un-interactive/boring, they need to be nerfed"
    2. They base matches from this channel on how strong a character is - without taking in consideration player skill and/or a lack of match-up knowledge on the other players part, then make generalizations like they have the whole game/and or character(s) figured out.
    3. If they see a top player use a strategy, combo, option-select, they act like everyone can pull it off.
    4. If the match(es) make them upset, they brag about quitting the game some time ago. Now I am not trying to sound mean, but why are you watching a video of a game you dropped? What do you gain from this aside from making yourself angry? The way how the FGC generally works, if you have not done anything significant in the community, or are not a top player - nobody will care if you quit the game, and life will go on for the players. It seems like an attempt to gain some attention, which sounds a bit embarrassing to me...
    Regarding this set:
    いもむし野郎..? Caterpillar Guy/Rascal/Fellow..? So Gobou really IS convinced that the lack of time they've had to play GG because of GBVSR, life, etc, has made their Asuka weak like he mentioned..? I am also thinking that they are taking into consideration the results of that event a few weeks ago... Well, hopefully their Asuka turns into a beautiful butterfly by the time AWT comes around.
    Also, I am going to be honest, Onet is a very good Asia Ram player. But I don't understand why they played like this during this match... it's like they didn't care or had something to drink that day, it looks like they were playing but not really looking at the screen - they made bad reads and didn't even try to break the cubes - from what I watched, Gobou won not because of Asuka, but out of being a much better player throughout the majority of these matches; for example, there were many times when Gobou's Asuka ran out of resources, but he still outplayed his opponent (Onet) and they didn't win a single set - this is an example of player level differences. This match would have looked different if Gobou faced だいじ (arguably the best Ram player in Asia, but they do not play much due to family obligations), Takehara, or saryu. Now Asuka is top tier, I'm not denying that, but Ram is also up there - in NA, many top players say she is better than Asuka - this match-up heavily favors her - it's just that the character is not piloted by notoriously strong players in Asia - unlike Sol, Ky, I-No, Asuka, etc; and once Gobou gets started, even Asuka's worse match-ups don't matter.
    Also, for the people who act as if every Asuka player can keep you blocking as long as Gobou, and has pressure on the same level as them, here's what Gobou said about that (translation by me):
    *Gobou Stream Viewer: "You can enjoy the Asuka battle by holding down one button (they mean Gobou's opponent stays blocking)"*
    *Gobou: "Asuka is recommended for beginners and is easy to operate, and offers the same content as the top players"*
    If you didn't realize, Gobou's response was both sassy and sarcastic - he essentially said, "you think that everyone can just pick up Asuka and do what I do" - I am not trying to be disrespectful, but the people who think like this either do not play the game, or belong to floor 7-10; people who know and understand the game or character(s) do not make outlandish assumptions like this - and that's why they are at the level they are, while the lower-level players also reside where they do. I get that you hate Asuka, and that's okay, but don't act like every Asuka is as good as Gobou and creates matches as one-sided as them - when there is nobody to this day, 8 months later...

      @@hi_im_patrickHello, and thank you for the compliment.
      I hope you are enjoying this game - as it is the new players who will continue to bring fresh competition and extend this game's lifespan. Also, I'm not trying to lecture you or anything, but this game happens to bring out some of the worst in people, so please try to focus on having fun, first...
      As far as groups to join... I'm not really sure where to start, because I am only in two Discord groups, but they're entirely in Japanese, so I don't think that will be very useful to you... I do have some recommendations as far as resources and players, though:
      Depending on how well you want to do in this game is up to you, but I highly recommend that you give the Dustloop Wiki a look; it contains everything about the game mechanics, frame data, character counterplay, and more. I think every new GGST player should start there, first.
      As far as players to watch: This will vary based off of who you decide to play in this game, but I advise any new player to watch multiple players if time permits - as they will give you different points of views on character match-ups, and you will see how much fundamentals vary from player to player. Moreover, if you play Asuka, Zato, or Goldlewis, then you should definitely watch Gobou, they stream on YT from time to time, and searching for ごぼう will bring up their channel as the first result.
      Daru_I-No is an amazing I-No player, and you can ask just about anything related to I-No, match-ups, etc, in the chat, then he will respond to you, as he is trilingual (speaks Korean, Japanese, and English), and he also has a Discord channel, but I cannot guarantee that it will all be in English.
      FAB streams on YT now, and they have been playing GG for close to 20 years, I believe. They play Potemkin, and have some of the best fundamentals I have ever seen. Their stream and comment section is mostly in Japanese, though.
      ちゅらら(Churara) is a who you want to watch if you play Ky/Sin; or Dany (there are videos of their Ky on this channel).
      LordKnight is a legacy GG player, and they provide some good knowledge about the game, and MUs for Millia/Baiken - please be warned that they do not like zoners - but they keep it pretty classy for the most part.
      SQ/Squirrel147 is arguably NAs best Ram player, and she puts out videos explaining neutral, how to open the opponent up, and her own personal tier lists for GGST/GBVSR. I watched her stream one time during a tournament vs. a Sol player, and at round start, she said, "I'm walking back" - this was actually a Really good option, and it works against like 99% of the Sol players I have faced (sorry, Sol players). She also has a Discord channel, and I'm sure if you join, there will be other players who can guide you to other NA GGST Discord channels.
      And of course, this channel also has videos of a variety of strong players - so you stumbled upon a good channel.
      Sorry I couldn't provide more... but, if anyone else has any recommendations, I'm sure they would really appreciate it.

    People complain about Asuka bein good but yalls gotta realize: Asuka is both the best and worst character (probs of any fighting game). He wins ANY matchup if the player plays perfectly, but will lose just as easily to any character from one mistake or not being able to keep up his flow. Yiu literally need perfect autopilot and execution, and being able to strategize off whatever cards you get, and if you brick then you gotta take pretty random gambles when defending (Gobou usually mashes when hes defending). I wont deny Asuka is broken, but hes also complete garbage

    There really should be more incentive for Asuka to use all the test cases. Test case 3 is so much better than 1 and 2. Either the spells in each test case should be shuffled around or he should artificially be forced to switch (maybe once a test case runs out of cards it can only be refilled by switching to a different one?)
    The vacuum staff is also very annoying to play against. Maybe nerf the duration.
    The auto mana and draw combo is still stupid powerful even after the duration nerf. It would probably be good to just put them in seperate test cases (probably swapping one of them out with their counterparts in test case 2, since test case 1 is supposed to be simple). That would make them more difficult to use together and you wouldn't be able to loop it by continually drawing into both of them.

    To the people that hate Asuka, I'm not going to argue with you, not liking a character it's perfectly fine, but here's a friendly reminder saying that Asuka, while really good, Is by far the most difficult character to learn and to master, all the shit you see Gobou throw at the speed of sound are not the skills from an avarage Asuka player, no Asuka main below Celestial is able to do this even in their dreams, and would probably ending up with his Mana bar(and very likely his life bar) reaching 0 in no more than 5 minutes while trying.
    Gobou is not another Asuka main, he's Asuka at his full potential, a goated player with god-like skills able to make the most complicated character look like f*cking Rugal. Just as he makes Asuka look broken, pretty much he can make Zato look the same, who is just as difficult but not as rewarding as the Gear Maker.

    • @waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301
      @waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 Před 5 měsíci +4

      I agree with pretty everything you've stated, but as good as Gobou is with Asuka, they haven't reached the character's full potential - they're still figuring out tricks with different Test Case staffs and are re-learning some combo routes with Asuka that were lost after the adjustments/nerfs. Also, for anyone who is curious, Gobou mains Asuka because he is more fun to play than Goldlewis and Zato - they didn't realize that Asuka was better than Zato until close to the end of season 2, but Asuka was Gobou's main like 3-4 months prior to season 3. Gobou also seems to like complex characters - they mentioned that what makes Zato an interesting character is the character strength, technicalities, and player expression the character provides - with this mindset, I guess it only makes sense for them to main Asuka - as Gobou has mentioned that they are both stronger than Zato, and also more difficult to play overall - oh, and Asuka also offers player expression.

    • @M-Trigger
      @M-Trigger Před 5 měsíci +2

      Yeah, I get from where you are coming from, maybe "perfected" isn't the ideal word, but I think "optimized" falls a little bit short, since Gobou's is clearly above avarage Asuka play, so I don't really know what word to use for describing him. And now that you mention it, Test Cases 1 and especially 2 haven't been explored that much even to this day, really curious to see what Gobou's comes up with.
      Also, gald to always have you here, @waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 you really seem to know a lot about Gobou and another top players, and the information you drop about them here really helps, specially in the "Asuka is fair?" debate.

      @waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 Před 5 měsíci +3

      @@M-TriggerYeah, I do agree that it's quite tough to come up with a fitting term to describe an Asuka of Gobou's caliber. But I do think "optimized" might be the best way to refer to Gobou's Asuka - but of course, correct me if I'm wrong.
      I also want to say that I'm glad you're here as well. You provide MU knowledge - while still remaining humble; your posts about the character's and their lore is both funny and amusing; and I appreciate that you always try to break up the "fights" in the comment section - like a good Samaritan trying to break up a bar f ight - if you will. I think someone with such a positive mindset, that always tries to keep the good vibes flowing is needed - especially when there are so many angry, negative posters who spread misinformation, or may be looking to get reactions out of someone for their own amusement. So, please keep spreading the posivity!
      Also, I just watch a lot of top player streams on my days off, and I have a good memory - it's nothing special; but if I have information to share that might benefit someone (game, top player opinions, etc), or give them a better understanding of an issue, I will share it. I'm not doing this for any credit or recognition, I'm just a nerd that loves analyzing things is all - hence, why my posts tend to be on the lengthier side...

      @theonetheycallheadspace2899 This is probably going to sound really mean, and it is not my intention, but... You complained about Zato in another video and stated that the character should be nerfed again. Everyone who plays this game knows Zato got nerfed to oblivion, and it is almost impossible to win tournaments with the character, on top of this, he is like the 2nd hardest character in the game to use; therefore, you were either trolling, or trying to bait people to get a reaction out of them. That alone is enough for me, and anyone else to not take what you say with anything more than a microscopic grain of sand...

      @@waitingforzato-1i-noinguil301 you're right, I was being sarcastic about my zato opinion, I do think people heavily overstate how bad he is so I was taking a simple jab with that opinion of mine as context
      This doesn't come off as mean mate, it comes off as stupid
      I made a shitpost and as a result you will not take my actual opinions seriously
      I think ram and asuka is a shockingly even matchup (imo only slightly in rams favour) that asuka players overstate dramatically because ram can punish brainless spell spam with 236h
      And because I made a *joke* about zato, you think that should be taken with a grain of salt
      Bravo critical thinking

      @@theonetheycallheadspace2899I don't know what floor you play on, but match-ups may not matter much unless you're playing at the highest level - so character MUs will vary depending on the level of the player, and the match-up knowledge either player possesses.
      As for the rest of your post: Well, since you wanted to disguise much of it as a veil of insults, and you essentially said I was stupid. Thank you for validing my first impression of you, and allowing me to see more of your character when someone points out toxic behavior of yours - which typically causes one to disregard whatever else you may have to say - because one might believe that post of yours is also baiting/trolling. Also, if you're going to insult someone's intelligence, please ensure that your understanding of the English language is on the same level - because your post lacks punctuation, and that makes it difficult for people to read and comprehend it. Last, this is a comment section for a video game - there is no reason to throw insults at someone when there is a disagreement; but that's my way of thinking, and clearly, we are not on the same level of maturity. Consider yourself blocked, mate.

    at this point just swap some utility cards around and un-gut his neutral so that the power budget is more balanced between the 3 decks because i cant stand to see gobou exclusively cooking tf outta people while every other asuka gets smothered by ungabunga
