For the price which engine would better engine for engine swaps. A 13b rotary (or 12a, 20b, etc.) or a K-20 or k-24 K-Series?

Hi! If this question got answered already, sorry 4 bringin' it up again! I noticed most of the Mazda Rotary Pickups are getting off the line pretty damn good here, with not too much squirrel/sidewinder snake action goin' on like their Rx3 close cousins. Is this because the Mazda's Truck engine is slower or a better engineered chassis (which the Rx3s could take note of)? Or was it simply superb Driver Talent? Back in 1978, I kept my stock Rx3SP inside the lanes while holding off stock (at they acted like that) 302 Boss Mustangs out in the San Fernando Valley.

Thanks for the info Joe! At age 60, I've slowed down a bit and am thinking of getting a Ford Transit Connect with a "maxed out" stock engine and an up top Ladder Rack. I do Art Jobs in & around L.A. and Hollywood, and I deal with small cramped parking spaces everywhere. But Listening to these Rotary Engines & seeing the Rx3's pop wheelies, sure take me back to 1978 in a heartbeat!

what horsepower you think these rotaries are at guys?

At least 800 bhp to around 1000+ bhp. Doesn't seems like much but theese cars are very low weight and has the same power/weight ratio as the cars on Street Outlaws, which has 2500-4000 bhp.
@@Stonkish street outlaw guys scared to race the puerto rican rotary gods though. They don't want em near them lol.
How do rotary engine perform on the long run? Can they handle 200k miles?
I'm sure some can but for the majority no, especially the ones seen here
+NICOLAS BAILLARGEON I would hazard a guess that any drag racing team at these sorts of power levels and ET's, regardless of being rotary, 4cyl, 6cyl, 8cyl etc most probably tear down an engine after a meet like this purely to inspect the health of the components.

It's an insurance brand. Like State Farm or Nationwide in the states. They sponsored mighty car mods for a long time (maybe still do?).

Rotary engines are great fun, but if you've owned one you'd know the issues. Like any engine, look after it, it will look after you. Fuel efficiency is none existent, drinks oil, spares are fucking overpriced. Especially apex seals and spark plugs.
I thought Australia would have redesigned the rotary engine by now seeing how great they are tuning them. Some company with big bucks should definitely do this. Maybe upscale the engine with 15-20%. Fix the oil feed, fuel efficiency, design longer lasting apex seals, fix the overheating issue, fix the flooding blah blah, you get the picture. It's sad. I love rotary but opted for a Toyota 1JZ GTE VVT-i ---- I'm a traitor, probably deserve to be shot in public but yea.
+Verum Quaerere Seek Truth spares are cheap as chips and these motors don't drink the engine oil you just premix 2 stroke into the fuel. spark plugs will cost the same as a 4 cylinder.... there are only 4 of them on a 13b. you may be thinking of 20/26b's they are pricey as but the power is intense.

I think you should add in your comment, SPARES ARE CHEAP AS CHIPS 'where I am from' seeing that here in RSA the spares are madly priced. A spark plug for the rotary is R850-00 (ZAR) 75.14 in Australian Dollars x 2 trailing
the leading are R1250-00 (ZAR) 110,49 in Australian Dollars x 2 leading....

Have u seen the PAC brothers Rotary at the drags
mmmm....3 rotors running in alcohol or high performance fuel and turbo making 7secs. it's slow...no chance, I know there should be a combination for those engines that a 3 rotor can make middle 5secs, rotaries are high torque, so look into that, I dont have money for trying but a good sponsor could do it.....Good Luck, Muchachos...👽👍
i have seen things 7 secs? What are you on? Most 20Bs are in the 6 range not 7 and even most of the 13b are in the 6 range as well
