how many of us has watched this video more the 10 times. I lost count
10 times in a row? Yes lol
I play it often on Pandora... okay, every day :)
@delall - And I imagined I could sing it better under the shower, with three quarters of the lyrics missing and where are my contact lenses and glasses xxx ;) (And the dogs need to go for a pee ...)
I have no idea how many times I have watched this video but I can guarantee you that it is way, way, way beyond ten. And I still get chills every time I see it.
4 times all the way through but tbh I just learned about it yesterday
Let's be honest. Nobody can sing like Ann Wilson.
Ann nailed the whole thing. I wish Nancy woulda been on electric.
Zeplin is still better. Though Plant is showing his age
@@MysticKnight38no one was comparing.
She is one singing sister. I have always loved Heart.
Nobody, nobody
Whoever came up with the arrangement is a musical genius. Every single participant is this performance should be extremely proud.
I wonder whose arrangement it is.
Absolutely brilliant! I'm still shaking my head at this rendition of the ultimate rock song ever!
Rob Mathes. Stop the video at 3:30. Rob Mathes is on guitar on the left, Ann in the middle and Shane Fontayne, who did the solo, on the right. Rob is a well respected arranger. Has done a lot of things you have heard. The guy IS a musical genius....and he is the one that put the house band together.
@@sophiadilberakis5019Thanks for that breakdown!
Yes, Genius 💕🎭💕
I think this is the first time Led Zeppelin was feeling what people felt listening to them all their lives
@Erg Gjo - I couldn't have said it better myself....was thinking the SAME thing!
True
Wow. That is an amazing point!!!!!
I think you’re right
Well stated. Excellent observation.
When you can make Led Zepplin cry by playing Led Zepplin, you win.
LMAO! 🤣
I think when he saw the Bowler hats on the choir - in respect to Bonham - it was too much. They were best friends.
I cried, first time watching. Wow!
The reason Robert Plant teared up was because Bonzo's son was playing the drums and being there to be part of the honor towards his dad and band mates
Especially when they don't even like the song, lmao!
Suppose I should say Robert doesn't care for the song. His favorite is Kashmir.
Still Watching This in 2024 So powerful and Moving !! 😢
Agreed!!!
It’s 2024 and this cover still makes me cry happy tears. Everyone outdid themselves on this 😍😍😍
Yes!
When Jason Bonham on drums salutes his father's bandmates at the end. . .rivers!
This does everything art, regardless of form, is supposed to do. If this doesn't move you, check the lost and found for your soul.

Robert Plant: You fool. No man can cover this song.
Ann Wilson: I am no man.
Ann Wilson: I have watched this 10xs (at least) since you performed it...and indeed, you are no man, you are amazing and so talented....Do you happen to know who did the arranging for the choral parts/orch.? I'm doing this in my final concert of my 40 years in teaching w/ my HS. students and the choir arr. is , well rather...blahhhhh....Don't know if this will find it's way to you but thought it worth a try, most sincerely, Wendy Shepherd , Choral Director, Wilson HS, Tacoma, WA

No man am I.
Fantastic reference. Zeppelin love Tolkien so I am sure they would also appreciate it
This comment pleases me.
I thought that no one, and I mean absolutely no one, could cover this song properly until I heard Ann Wilson sing it. This sent shivers down my spine and into the depths of my soul. The sheer power, passion and majestry of her voice as she hits every single note perfectly blew me away. What I wouldn't give to have been there in person.
I love ❤ her voice
I've watched this video countless times and each time I get goose bumps and a big cry ball in my throat. The Wilson sisters are epic!
Have you heard her rendition of "No Quarter"? Its is also AMAZING. She is absolutelly one of the best rock female singers of all time.
@@cronistamundano8189 I recommend you see and hear "An All-Star Tribute to Brian Wilson" at Radio City Music Hall (2001). Sir George Martin introduced the show-stopper: "Good Vibrations". As Martin said, "G.V." is notoriously difficult to do live, "but this band can do it." This Band = Ann & Nancy Wilson fronting choristers (Harlem Boys Choir), instrumentalists/harmonies (Wondermints + Taylor Mills = The Brian Wilson Band), and an operatic baritone (Jubilant Sykes) for the Mike Love parts. It is not as transcendent as their "Stairway to Heaven", but it is truly impressive. The Wilson Sisters gave great tribute to the Wilson Brothers (Brian and deceased brothers, Dennis and Carl).
Could of not said it any better
How do you pay tribute to the greatest rock band ever? You do this. The musical arrangement and orchestration was pure genius. The power of Ann and Nancy Wilson put it literally over the top. And the band’s reaction was priceless.
I'm going to be 65 next month and hope that I live long enough to see ❤️ in August in Lincoln, Nebraska. It would be my 4th time. ❤❤
I felt for the guitar player having to play Jimmy Pages most famous solo to Jimmy page... wouldn't be me! It was fantastic
Exactly! You bring in the best of the best and you f'ing rock it- OMG~!
I’ve watched many of the Kennedy Honors, I have to say this is one of the better performances. They did a great job!
My favorite version and I'm 65.❤❤
Robert looks p'd! Maybe she sang it better!?
2024 and still watching this epic performance. Breathtaking on every level.
Me too. 72 yrs old
Ok, it’s 2023, I have watched this video 100 times easily and I still get goose bumps and tear up listening to this amazing work of art! Am I the only one? This is the performance to end all performances, it can’t get any better!

I'm in agreement with you on this video. Magical moment!👍😎
This version just gets me in the feels - I can't resist watching it over and over.
Jimmy Page looks like the teacher who is pleased with his students.
Daisy, I thought the same thing. He just looked like he was really having a great time.
Can you imagine playing Jimmy Page's guitar solo in front of Jimmy Page?
@@rustyshackleford836 was thinking the same thing. He's likely a massively experienced session musician, but still...

He looks like he’s grown into an incredibly wise Asian teacher. Hehe
I cannot remember just how many times I've watched this, but it STILL gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes! Jason Bonham reprising his father's performance on the drums; the beaming smile on Robert Plant's face; the superb vocals of Ann Wilson; the choir, complete with Bowler hats; Barack Obama moving to the beat. This simply HAS to be THE BEST cover version of probably THE greatest rock 'n roll song of all time!!
Your comment is SO eloquent! Could not have said it better myself. ❤
I know. Ann is amazing. Look at all those people's faces on the crowd and you know they have just heard some of the best in music back in the day when music was real music.
Nope...greatest R&R song of all time is Johnny B Goode until rock fades away. Those Englishmen learned their lessons well from Chuck Berry.
The best tribute cover I have ever heard in my life. Heart and everyone else involved here absolutely aced it. To do this in front of the original artist is daunting to say the least. This song was given new life. Brilliant!
Beautifully said❤
You blew it with your "This song was given new life." Stairway never died!
Ann Wilson is the only powerhouse that could cover this AND belt above two entire choirs. GOAT
Did u catch all the mens reactions at the 2nd choir reveal. They probably knew she was gonna tear it up.
I literally feel every bit of this.
@Sarah H I absolutely agree, amazing!
Ann is good jack from great white sounds more like plant then plant does
Powerhouse is absolutely the right word
Mad props to the guitarist. He nailed that solo in front of Jimmy Page. No pressure.
Who is he?
Shane Fontayne ☺️
He looks like Sheldon Cooper. LOL
My first thoughts were Sheldon “. That’s hilarious
He should’ve played it on a fender telecaster like Jimmy Page did on the original track.
Nobody mentions the lead guitarist ~ Shane Fontayne ~ who did a brilliant solo & Jimmy Page thought so too! 🤩
A CZcams short and my love of Led Zeppelin and especially Heart brought me here in 2024.
Yes, watching a CZcams short brought me here as well.
Robert Plant asked Jason to sit in the box with them to honor his father, JB said he couldn't because he had a gig that night. Plant was persistent but JB still said thank you but he couldn't. What a shock to them all when the lights came up and there he was, on stage honoring them and his father...
cool story
So Jason is the one up there playing Jimmy's solo?! I couldn't figure out who he was!
He didn't lie...what a gig!!❤

Ann Wilson belted this out at 62 to perfection like she was still 22. No other female vocalist has qualities that could match with Robert Plant in such an iconic tribute. Bravissimo primadonna!!
Plant couldn't hit it at 50. That's how great a vocalist Ann Wilson is.
They flew in from a concert in Florida just hours before and had no rehearsal! They are awesome.
@@rickdaystar477 Really! That makes it even more phenomenal and illustrates what consummate musicians they are. I suppose the rest of the musical cast had rehearsed? Does anyone know? I mean if it was all spontaneous then it's shere magic.
@@michaelkirkby6306 I saw the sisters interviewed on a Sunday morning show and that performance was discussed. It seems there was preparation prior with the musicians and choir but because of a commitment the ladies flew in from Miami to Washington just a few hours before the Kennedy Center event..they had done that song many times before but not with that arrangement. They had been up for hours between the Miami concert and the Kennedy Center show. Absolute professionals!

No frenetic dancers and complex choreography.

Ann Wilson is most likely the most underrated rock vocalist of all time.

True talent unlike today's singers.
Not sure anyone underestimates her talent or vocals, in her prime she was unmatched and everyone knew it.
I beg to differ.... She's the Greatest Female Rock Vocalist of all Time!!!
I remember hearing Dog and Butterfly when I was younger for the first time. I was absolutely blown away with her vocals on the B side.. Lush and extremely warm yet subtlety distant and heartbreaking. Heart is one of the greatest bands of all time.
OMG the back up singers wearing Bonzos derby along with his son. The look on the Bands faces and expressions were absolutely breath taking. Don't know why but this put a lump in my throat, anyone else?
They do a mean Led Zep, I've got a DVD where they do a couple of songs and they are just great. I see we share some of the same taste in music. I listen to it regularly when I want to remind myself of how good life is!
SO was mine
This will go down in history as one of the greatest performances in rock. Ann Wilson had complete control of that stage and of her instrument. The addition of the chorus was a fantastic surprise element. There was not a "miss" in this whole thing. I've watched it at least a dozen times since the original performance and it never ceases to give me goosebumps. The fact that she could sing this at 62, after years of touring and recording, and still nail every note while making it look easy speaks volumes about her vocal prowess. She's nearly unmatchable in music - regardless of age.
In September 2022 she sang 3 LZ songs Including Stairway to Heaven with the Jim Irsay Band in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, and she’s still got it. Look for the videos on CZcams.
I agree she is awesome

I can't stop watching this. It's unbelievable. Jimmy's joy Robert's tears, Jason channeling his father, the choir wearing the boler hats, Nancy's signature rocking out moves...and Ann's voice filtered through heaven.....What a tribute to the greatest rock band ever.

I thought Robert was in tears and Jimmy was grooving!
It's actually funny that you said that, because it's pretty much Word for word what I was just telling someone less than 5 minutes ago. I get goose bumps and tears every time I watch this. Which is all the time. There are no words for how much I love this video.
Jimmy Page clearly is enjoying but Robert Plant is in tears….

Ann blew this out of the park
She sure did and Shane Fontayne owned the solo. Jimmy Page knew it and you could see the joy in his face.
They took the best rock song ever written and played it better than its ever been done before.
Ann Wilson's vocals are ridiculous. She is the Queen of Rock
The only one who could've stood in if Ann was unable is Pat Benatar.
Ann Wilson and Stevie Nicks!!
No offense but Ann Wilson is way better than Stevie Nick's or Pat Benatar..Neither had the the extreme range or depth of richness when they were young, let alone now..I love them
Both, but Stevie and Pat were and still are much more 1 dimensional singers...There is no one on Earth
With the incredible pipes of Ann Wilson and there never has been.
No argument there
Janis Joplin and Emmalou Harris are the real queens of rock!
I hope you realize what you're seeing. Playing the epitome of rock anthems in front of not only the industry but also the rock gods who wrote it and knocking it out of the park. When you make Zeppelin cry you have done your job. Plant watching his life flash before his eyes, Page wanting to jump out of the box and join them onstage and JPJ enjoying himself took me to a place long ago. YES! I always tell people that if they need a joy transfusion, just to watch Jimmy and Jonesy listening to this tribute. Their joy would raise the dead.
@@cherylhulting1301 When I have a bit of a problem with the world, I always listen to this.
ANN WILSON...🙏🙏🙏
I think when that chorus came up, that was where he lost it and couldn't contain his excitment anymore. You could see he was thinking, "Dang, why didn't I think of that? This is GREAT!"
Imagine being that guitarist....playing for Jimmy.... probably shit his pants...lol
How many people cry/get teary eyed when they watch this?? Gosh it's such an impeccable, emotional performance!! 🙏🙏👏👏👏
I just did. Again. For the umpteenth time.
Me too. When I need to feel something wonderful, I sit down and watch this. It's an amazing experience. Imagine what it was like for the live audience
I cannot watch it without getting teary-eyed and goosebumps. Impossible! Perhaps the greatest rock song ever written! So happy I was in my 20s in the70s, with all that fantastic music!
gets me every time. Jason Bonham on the drums is just.....emotional
This young boomer just did..... Again.
Every time I listen to that Heart "Stairway to Heaven" tribute to Led Zeppelin, my heart ends up in my throat. What an incredible performance by Ann and Nancy Wilson.
Lost track of how many times I watch this, getting overwhelmed w emotion each time! I would have done anything to have been at this event to experience this masterpiece live!
My Father and I watched this and although he had advanced Alzheimer's it made him smile. One of the most moving performances ever.
That's wonderful. For those afflicted with this cruel disease, familiar music can break through and touch the emotions of those who suffer from it. I saw that with my mom before she passed away. So happy your father could smile and feel a connection. Bless you!
Wow that is the power of music making it’s mark. My folks passed a few years ago but and father had Az too but certain songs brought that memorable smile back to life again. So glad this awesome performance brightens his days. Treasure them. Sincerely
Joel that makes me very happy to hear. God 🙏 bless you and your father.
Good music transcends time, memory, age, it breaks through and touches us on a level even such a disease cannot stop. It's in our very souls. Bless you and your father.
@@garylove5475 who is not immune to death? We know the answer and so we love these wonderful Memories.. That's.what we have... for me, that's enough.
If this doesn’t do something to you emotionally, you have no soul..
100% agreed!
goosebumps and tears. Every. Single. Time.
To those that were there in those times., your seeing what happened in your life, it looked like that's what Plant was thinking. As great as they were/are , its only fitting to have a .masterpiece of a performance as their tribute, the people that came up and played some of Zeppelin songs all did a good job as well and starting with Jack Blacks introductions "better than the Beatles, better than the Stones. Best band ever to that grand finale, you could see and feel the respect everyone had for Led Zeppelin. Yes, I have soul and I know you do as well by your comment . Much respect yo you and in their time they were the baddest motherf-ckers on the planet best band ever....

You tell it !!! Well said !!! :)
Heart talked about how they had only 1 rehearsal. Of all the covers of this song over the years, no one ...NO ONE...has brought it to light like Heart did. I shed tears every time I watch this video. It's so emotional seeing Plant tearing up and Page practically jumping out of his seat from excitement. Mesmerizing performance.
I heard that Ann was 62 when she sang this tribute. I saw Heart Live in the 70's and Ann sounds just like that young gal from days of yore. Fantastic performance from the whole company. Yes, I've watched this many, many times. I love it! ❤❤❤💋💋💋
You know you've reached the top of your game when you can perform "Stairway To Heaven" in front of Led Zeppelin and get a standing ovation from them.
Apsolutly! My Thought Exactly! 👍
Yes.. ann really slay the song.. but part of the reason for the legends giving the ovation is because the drummer is john bonham's son.. it's a surprise performance by him that the other members didn't know until this performance.
@@ridzuansufian3823 - Everybody here is fully aware of that. But the ovation was for everyone on stage. They all played a part in make Led Zeppelin stand up and applaud.
And make Robert Plant tears drop
beautifully said, HRM.
The most beautiful thing about the whole deal is how she never tries to make it about herself, but she's always concentrating on being a messenger of the original song. But - in the process - the perfect delivery, the raw emotion, and her talent makes it hard to ignore how very few people can top this performance.
Everyone should at least experience once this song. When the chorus comes in it's hard not to feel goosebumps all over.
Honestly she sang it better IMO. It's subjective of course but the original lacked in timing and tone in certain places while Ann's lacked in the same emotional almost-crying lines. She not only 'corrected' some of the delivery but also did stay true to some of the small little details in the inflections and timing. Everything about this rendition is probably better than anything Led Zeppelin could have done live mainly because of how well Ann can belt out notes lol it's crazy. They are sort of harmonizing tracks like a chorus in the studio version, Plant runs out of breath live, and Ann at over 60 years old seems to dominate that vocally. It's not to put down Led Zeppelin to any degree but I look at it like taking a worldwide classic song and finding a way to dream team it into sounding better than ever before.
Absolutely! You can't outdo Led Zeppelin, she didn't try to, it was a beautiful tribute & masterfully performed! I Love This
Totally agree
You hit it on the head. She as jamming with her sister, letting the guitarist rage, and let the choir and background singers shine. What a pro. What a performer. What a voice.
She never takes credit for bringing Robert Plant to tears.
"It’s just a magnificent performance to watch and it kills me every time. It kills me in two or three different ways. It’s just like, Oh my God," Plant explained to Vulture.
Nothing more beautiful or pleasurable to the soul than this performance!
It is beyond description!
I'm so thankful Robert Plant and Jimmy Paige lived to experience this! They are master's as well!
It only took 3 guitarists, a string section, horn section and full chior to do this song justice ... absolutely amazing
I will be forever jealous of those who got to experience this live
me too !!
I am big fan from japan
@@user-jg6iu9dc8q awesome!! Japan is beautiful 🇯🇵
Saw KZ live at Knebworth in the 1970’s….. awesome….. but this is probably the best version of Stairway I’ve heard! Ann and Nancy add something magical to it!
Agreed!!!
Beautiful
I think the addition of the choir really wowed the boys. All 3 looked so impressed! And Robert looked teary as the song built to it's climax. Just a spectacular rendition, and quite possibly the best tribute Zeppelin could have witnessed. If only Bonzo were here to see his boy Jason pounding those skins, with the same fervor Bonzo was famous for. An epic cover, of an epic song, performed by two epic women, in tribute to a truly epic band.🥰
I saw Heart live in the 80's, they sounded amazing. I'm so glad I did. ❤
I saw Zeppelin in the 80's, it was amazing. I will never forget. Black Sabbath was the opener. Capitol Centre Landover Maryland.
Had the honor of meeting Jason last night after a concert in Indianapolis, and I can say without a doubt, one of the funniest most genuine guys out there, total salt of the earth like his pops. As you said, this is probably as good a tribute as humanly possible!
I agree with everything you just said..... WoW!!!! Just WoW!!!!
You summed it up perfectly!
When I die I want this played at my funeral. Because I want my funeral to be a celebration and this song rocks
I’m responsible for at least 1m of these views
Right behind you!
Me too!
Can we please get a lot of love for Jason Bonham?!?!
Imagine being on the same drums and being up the there playing probably one of the most infamous songs ever written in rock-and-roll by your late father and his band, but to do it in front of said band. The emotion he must have felt and emotion Robert and Jimmy must have felt seeing a Bonham sitting behind that kit again.....that had me all teared up.
When he looks up at the group at the end, it brought a tear to my eye. You know he was thinking of his dad.
Infamous?
I teared up
Jason played drums for Led Zeppelin, filling in for his dad, during Zep's final reunion concert "Celebration Day" in 2007 (videos are on CZcams). Supposedly they all practiced together for six months to get ready for the concert. So he was no stranger to playing with or in front of the band. He currently tours with his own Led Zeppelin tribute band - I've seen him in concert several times, and he's great.
I'm sure he feels lucky for the father he had or he'd be stacking shelves instead.
Ann Wilson’s vocals are one of the best in the industry. Very few of today’s female pop stars have even half the vocal talent of this amazing woman. Love this version. This is why I rather listen to the classics instead of what’s out there today. Vocals like this is what’s missing. Pure talent.
I totally agree, but I am a little older too.😅
But the choir was an amazing touch!
I tell people rock and roll is the legasy we baby boomers leave to future generations.
Taylor Swift's personal hygiene issues are what will be her generation's legasy.
Exactly
@@kimshaw6857 Pretty damn sad, really. Another tribute I just watched was with the late Tom Petty, the late Prince, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison, Steve Winwood play "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the 2004 RRHOF induction for George.
Masterful cover of Stairway to Heaven by Ann and Nancy Wilson! When you see Jimmy's joy and bring Robert to tears, you know it's good.
Tears me up. Also seeing Bonham playing for his dad gets you in the feels. Felt like a religious experience.
Jimmy Page has commented on how he tired of playing and hearing Stairway to Heaven, but seeing his reaction to the choir reveal at the climax is awesome. It was like he saw it new for the first time in a long time. One of the best live performances ever. I'm glad it was captured for our enjoyment.
Yes! I’m so thankful we get to see it.
The best part of this amazing performance is you get to see Zep realize how great their song was, and of course, how great they were
Michael Cutcher were? They still are great! And the song is top 5 in my opinion
I can remember a time where every band had a cover of "Stairway". I guess at that point, hearing your song sang over and over by people who just wanted to do a cover...yeah that would make me sick of my own song regardless of what that song was. But honestly...this isn't a cover, I don't know what it is, but its not a cover and I think Page saw and felt that like everyone else there.
Tanner Wimer Absolutely. What are your other four?
I cry my eyes out every time I watch this. This is one of the best live musical performances of all time. Hands down.
Just watched it again myself. Amazing.
Crying right now! Man! This band and this song!!!!!
Thee best. By far, no contention,
Me too, this performance puts tears in my eyes every time. Wow, imagine how the band felt sitting watching this tribute to them.
I watch it everyday and get the chills every time. Perfection
Having Jason on the drums was absolutely perfect.
This is by far..the best cover of Led Zeppelin.
And to perform for Led Zeppelin with such a tremendous tribute.
Everyone did such a fantastic job...with the Wilson sisters leading... absolutely stupendous
One of the best musical performances of all time 100%
Yes it is !!
It's amazing. But the bar is very high in that category.
If you aint seen it check out the video of Green Day at Hyde park, Crowd singing before the start.
It ain't a performance, but 1 spectacular video.
